    The brand new Lumix 100mm F2.8 Macro lens is here, and it's packing a lot more heat than I think people realise.
    Panasonic have managed to make a 1:1 Macro Lens that's the same size and weight as the other f1.8 primes... that's insane!
    Normally macro lenses tend to be a lot bigger and heavier, but thanks to new advancements with their Dual Linear Phase Focus Motor, Lumix have managed to keep the size and weight down.
    The Lumix 100mm F2.8 Macro is an awesome lens for both photo and video, and not just for macro either!

    How is the focus breathing going from macro to infinity? It would be a cool test to see considering macro lenses have more focus breathing (I think), but LUMIX are so good at suppressing it in their other primes.

    It's amazing there are now 6 lenses in that collection (including the 18mm), from a brand who must share a fraction of the market vs Sony and Canon. Glad they are still supporting their system and users. The S5 is soooo cheap right now, brand new. Don't see much reason to spend more on the S5 II or X. More money saved for lenses like this.

    A bit off subject here, but I 've noticed the S5MK2 AF-C(video) mode behave weird at appertures F8.0 and above even when exposed +0EV. I tested with s24-105, sigma 45mm and the kit lense and it seems to be an in camera bug sense I can reproduce it with all the lenses. It seems to be that phase detect-af turns off or something. Have you noticed this or is it just my copy? Thought I'd share it with you sense you have more exposure regarding Lumix cameras.

    Isn't it better to buy a 85mm 1.8 and use it with a macro tube? The difference between 85 and 100 isn't huge and you get a lens that's better in low light.
    Maybe the 70-200/2.8 with a macro tube is also a good idea?

    I have a quick question about your lut pack you mentioned in the last video. What color profile do you use for your photos? Personally I shoot with log to get the widest dynamic range, but when I open my photos in lightroom classic they are underexposed whereas they were superb on my lumix s5. I read on the internet that this could be due to the color profile. Have you ever encountered this problem? So I was wondering which color profile do you use for your lut ?

    • @RobinParmar
      @RobinParmar 6 месяцев назад +1

      Huh? There are now exactly 100 lenses for L-mount. Everyone is "allowed" to make them. And how is a macro "junk"?

    • @anasrida3454
      @anasrida3454 6 месяцев назад

      @RobinParmar i wouldn't call it junk, but it is a little underwhelming. Other manufacturers are starting to release 1.25x and 2x macro lenses (in fact it's panasonic that slap the word "macro" on their 0.5x magnification zooms like the 24-105 and 70-300).
      We still need to see how sharp it is and how flat the focus field is, which is the most important for macro. In fact, this is what should have been discussed in the video instead of the focus motor given that macro is usually shot with manual focus. I guess in the future we'll get some comparisons and that will tell if the somewhat high price is justified.

    • @RobinParmar
      @RobinParmar 6 месяцев назад

      @@anasrida3454 Agreed that a flat field plus good resolution and acutance are the most important characteristics. This contemporary fixation on auto-focus is annoying. Since I already own three manual macro lenses, this one needs to earn its place.
