This is a 101 course on how to use paddle shifters. Easy step by step tutorial. The concept is going to be virtually the same on every recent modern car with a manual mode (paddle shifters).

I love using the paddles in my GT AWD, it’s just so much more fun. The upshifts could be a little faster but the downshifts are almost immediate
Yeah it’s fair, wish it was a DCT, but it is certainly way faster than the Lexus 350F sport was. That thing was almost a joke to use PS with lol.
@@twn2rbo lol yeah that transmission is extremely slow, i was actually considering a camry trd before I drove the stinger, the transmission was the deal breaker for me

Btw got/installed my tcu lozic tune. My god its one of the things the Stinger was missing. Shifts are effortless and in the power band for optimum speed. Off the line my head was pushed back more on full throttle LOL. Get it!
Brooo I’m jealous! You beat me to it. I almost certain I will also be going with Lozic. What specs did you request on your Lozic order? Is it a mild tune?
@@twn2rbo I got the pressure 3 and -8%. The fastest setting. 2 is more mellow and smooth for comfort. 3 is where you want to be imo

is it safe when you're using the paddle shifters in manual mode to let it downshift on its own?

Actually I don’t, I could prob make one as soon as I get a chance, but you may have one by then as I’m backed up. But, I got the mount from Blendmount and they had an option for the wire tap kit for the Stinger. I want to say it was RJ11. It was a little tricking to get it to work. The smallest pins they provided still did not want to tap in that hole. I ended up shaving the pin down slightly until I got it to work. Just have patience with it

@@BigD4562 Uniden R3. I did days of research and this is by far the best bang for the buck IMO. The range is more than you need. I’ve been warned 2 miles in advance on the straight interstates. Please check your local laws prior to purchase. I would have to look at the map again, but I know 2 states they are banned.
Believe it or not, my Scorpion is my FIRST automatic car! Been driving manual all my life. These paddle shifters are fun but my left foot is so bored. Just ain't the same! Lol.

@@twn2rbo what's hilarious is that it was between the 2021 civic type r or the stinger. My wife who's much shorter and alot scarier quickly slapped the twenty nothing year old outta me and that was the end of that conversation. Came home with the Stinger. 😂

When in the full manual mode, doesn't it downshift for you if you're let's say in 4th gear and around 2k rpms, and hammer the gas without downshifting yourself let's say to second?
You mentioned it bogs down but I could've sworn it downshifts for you if you're in the wrong gear for the power you're asking of it. Or does your tuner eliminate that?

That’s a good question, I can’t recall that happening to me in full manual mode, but it would if I was in auto and say I downshifted answer wasn’t going that fast in 2nd gear then it would kick down to 1st. However, with my TCU tune it 100% will not do that, I can be at 2k rpm in manual mode and it will go up from there and bounce off rev limiter before I have to shift
I have a 2018 RWD and it does do it for you, it is part of that safty feature he was talking about

You can, if you have my model with the T shifter. The new models with the electronic shifters do not allow you to. Mine is more mechanical which I personally like. I always use both the paddles and the handle to shift as it makes me feel more connected to the car, plus with the burble tune I can control the pops better 😁

Oh you can for sure, I’ve seen it. I just want to confirm that the rear diff in the AWD is the same one on the RWD, esp since I’ll be sending more power to it. I’m sure it is, and once I can confirm, I will post a vid of it

In paddle mode do you ever let it downshift on it’s own?
Yeah, I really only down shift to 2nd as I’m braking for the sound it makes. But to answer your question yeah, esp when traffic is heavy.
I just got the GT1 AWD and the launch control is very conservative. You said you get a better launch by not using it?
It’s hit or miss, but you are right it is conservative and cuts almost all boost off at launch. It’s kinda fun to use but for a real launch, the TCU needs to be tuned or you have to hold that parking brake up and build a little boost and then let go and floor it like I did in a couple of other videos. That’s how I got 0-60 in 3.9 sec

Where did you get your E steering wheel badge?
I picked that up from the K8 Stinger Store, I ordered the hood one from Kia South Korea but the sell them all. Wheel caps also

I wish my stinger GT2 did that. It goes in automatic every time I stop no matter what
I wonder if it needs to be in sport mode? I’m always in sport mode so I didn’t really think of that. Even with the shifter placed over to the left in manual mode it does?
@@twn2rbo GT2s have the electronic shifters so we dont have a manual mode to shift to, its strictly from the paddles. Also Sport mode with traction control snd stability off will remove most restrictions, including letting you hit redline and letting it bog down( as opposed to the car shifting a bit early with TC and S on) if i recall it keeps it in manual mode even at a stop but its been raining heavy so dont have any chance to test it
@@HUMANSALAd666 I can only imagine RWD, my IS350 F sport was and I miss getting sideways and stuff.
@@twn2rbo Aus models only get the RWD version, wish we had AWD here it would really help when it decides to start flash flooding one month before summer haha. You can always try pull the fuse for AWD, seems like its basically the same thing
@@HUMANSALAd666 I will if I can confirm the rear diff is the same one on the RWD. I got under there and it doesn’t look like it would take 420 whp
Do you have your fastest 0-60 on video?
I haven’t brought the dragy out since the last one. So far the best dragy is 4.3, I’ve never done a ebrake or brake snip launch. We will get it down to 3.7 - 3.8 with ease one I get the TCU tuned
I don’t have my draggy yet and also I’m not tuned. But I have heard people say they get better from not using LC. My personal experience/feeling was that LC was the fastest in my car. So I was curious to watch you you did it! Like exactly how you lunched and when you shifted etc! Thanks for the content. You make having a Stinger even more fun.

What RPM do you downshift though
Around 2,700 just depends I try to keep it around 3500 max on the downshift

GT2 once you used the paddle shifters it takes you to manual mode
I think that’s the same across the stinger platform, until you stop the car then it goes back to regular.
@@twn2rbo that's true or if you hold down the upshift fords couple of seconds to goes back to normal.

Not sure what episode this was. But yeah at one point I did a comparison on the diverter valve mod to the BOVs.s the version one ADD1 was good, but the last ones they sent me caused problems
Ha ha, to simulate the manual shift, you take leg off the gas and then do the paddle shift.
Gone are those days where you are not even considered as a driver if you do not know how to drive a proper manual.
Miss my days of driving manual( another level of driving experience).
My first car was a manual and I’ve drove a lot of them, def the most driver connected experience

I would highly recommend that you do not do that, If Kia Finds out you were solely shifting all the time, every time, that brings in a whole mess of who's to blame for Transmission failure, And believe me, your Stinger's Computer records EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING from day one to current, EVERYTHING is documented and recorded.
