We upgraded this crazy go kart with the new Predator 212cc GHOST Kart Racing Engine from Harbor Freight and it is awesome! We also got the racing engine accessory kit and it saved us a lot of time sourcing parts for this go kart build. This is a bad go kart so of course we had the worst go kart crash ever.

Those tires look great! It would look even better if they were put on in the right direction 😂
But on tarmac it will direct the water to the center thus causing it to hydroplane which just may give it more top speed. Not to be confused with terminal velocity, where it will get up to 121mph off a cliff.

He dry fit the clutch on backwards at first also. I was wondering what the idea there was, or maybe just messing with us.
As soon as I saw the wheel diameter I had a feeling that the gearing would be off somewhat but I knew you'd soon work it out!

look at the size of the axle sprocket lol with those tires....it needs a torque converter and smaller normal sprocket
It wasn't a good gokart for an adult to race around in but it was pretty cool being made of scrap parts.

Great job!! Been looking forward to seeing the rat rod go cart reappear! Just slap a torque converter on it and you’re done! Then you have a CVT to provide ALL the gear ratios!

Not just this time, but I seen many other videos like this, and tires like that. THEY ARE ALWAYS ON BACKWARDS. Seriously common sense tells you what way the tread SHOULD BE FACING.
They probably do it on purpose for us to be triggered over.

No triangulation of the new rear frame section is a...bold choice.
yard kart guy here, just to let you guys know your rear tires were put on backwards the whole time. I have 4 yard karts that have centrifugal clutch like the one used on your hot rod kart so some advice i would give is: if the engine is running and actually spinning the inside of the clutch but the outside of the clutch is not moving then let of the gas and shut off the engine. if you keep spinning the clutch like that it will get VERY hat VERY quick and warp the clutch, once its warped its as good as garbage. a lot of the time that will happen going up hills. best way to get up a hill with a centrifugal clutch is just to get a good run at it. welding on the clutch may have already warped it anyway.
another tip is that when building a mounting plate for the engine, put the clutch on the engine so that you can line up the drive gear on the clutch with the sprocket on the axle. then when drilling out the holes in the mounting plate slot them in the way that the engine can slide forward and backward when the nuts are loose. this allows you to tighten the chain by sliding the engine forward and then tightening it down.
when you don't need to have the all the ports on the engine open i would recommend that you either but on what ever is supposed to be on there like a header or just put some tape over it just so that dust and metal shavings don't get in your engine.

Aside from the tank location adjustment and gearing which were already mentioned, the only thing I can think of is maybe triangulate the rear of the frame so it doesn't fold at the point where it was widened out. But still, for revision 1 of a build that is closer to what i could do than something Ethan/Edwin would put their name to, it's freaking awesome.

Buy the following from Go Power Sports or any other reputable kart parts dealer: 30 Series Torque Converter Kit w/ #40/420 idler pinion, #40/420 split sprocket (54-tooth plus with those rear tires you are using), and a hydraulic rear disc brake kit. Yeah, you'll have to redesign the rear to accommodate a jackshaft, but the performance gains are well worth the work. I believe that engine comes equipped with a pulse pump. If not, you might want to install one. As rough as the terrain is around there, you might want to let some air out of those rear tires. Looking forward to the full send!

You need a Comet clutch like in a snowmobile!!
There's a brass bushing inside those clutches that you got to remove while you weld on it or you can damage the clutch seriously

Aren't the rear wheels on backwards? Those v-shaped treads should be cutting into the dirt so it gets pushed out to either side as it turns.

Use a large plastic rain barrel to build tubbed out rear wheel fenders to avoid mud and stones. When I seen this thing I was all "RATROD LETS GO!!!". I think you could have also got some sick suspension if you ran a swing arm from mid frame under the seats to the back throwing shocks on a post behind the seat. Really stance it for the hill climbs and jumps.

Just a disclaimer Kamikoto uses 420J2 steel meaning it's no better than your cheap as shit walmart brand kitchen knife, if you want more info on this you should watch Shadiversity's video on this matter.

Grind hard rules seem to have always been to build test fix problems test again THEN worry about paint. Proof of concept is important my friend! Glad your having fun with go karts though!
Torque converter would probably do what y'all want out of it, get the juggernaut 30 series , I bet you won't be disappointed
Agree. Without a torque converter it won't move under its own power with that gearing and that size of a wheel. Pushing or down hill yes, it'll start going
This thing is cool! Add a reverse box and u have the rpm & room fit a juggernaut tq conv and let her rip! Oh yeah add those wheel bolts too lol

The Go kart looks great with those "Tractor Pull" designed rear wheels!!! Keep up this guys!! But change the tire direction!!
The CLUTCH may of been ruined do to the welding. (That style centrifugal clutch has the gear on the outside the away from the motor.) The TIRE tread pattern is also directional and on backwards.

Ditch the bonnet scoop, new bonnet with rows of old school cooling vents. White wall tyres and definitely chrome plate that radiator statue

Perhaps, the body could be reshaped & recontoured just a bit, to take some of the corners & sharp edges out and replace them with curves - like on the hood scoop. Then you could repaint the whole thing & give it a proper ZZ-Top lightning bolt on the side. Maybe, reshape the front grille, to make it look a bit more Fordy.

I hate that they cut a hole in it for the exhaust. You have a bender so bend the pipe to miss the body but it’s too late now. Ditch the clutch for a 40 series torque converter for added speed and torque
