How people give this a thumbs down is beyond me, the time this guy has taken to produce such a marvel in miniature model railway is amazing. Brilliant, thank you.
HI Peter , well some seem to get enjoyment out of it , I just dont bother , could be jealousy and just Morons , but glad you enjoyed , been a few changes since this video , but all still running good ...cheers dave
Dave your hard work is a credit to the railway modelling world. A superb layout I thoroughly enjoyed your tour and looking at the number of views the video has had so did a lot of other people. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Dave! Your progress is amazing; the detail that you have included is beautiful!! I am impressed with the small vegetation growing from the cracks in the arched wall and from the various small landscape vignette’s you have included throughout. The over-all effect is wonderfully life-like. A job very, very well done sir!! Dave
Thank you dave for your kind comment , always liked doing the scenics , live in a dream world I suppose where all is green and good ...but its my little world up there and have enjoyed doing this layout .....Cheers Dave
Excellent re-use of your existing scenic items and buildings. It is all those little details that help. I like the fire station as an excuse to display some engines. Looking forward to the track view.
As a young boy I could only dream of having such a great layout. As an adult in living in an apartment, I still dream of such a layout. It looks great and must be a real labour of love. Thanks for posting the video.
Thank you very much for your kind comment , as you say a labour of Love ...I started this 7 years ago , and like you could remember model railways as a boy , so when I retired decided to build a layout in my loft , kind of got carried away , but it helps pass the long winters we have , I can escape to my loft and use my imagination on how things used to be on the railways ....I am including a lead to the layout which is more or less as it is now ..>>>> ruclips.net/video/BoKxx4NV80Y/видео.html ...Cheers Dave
+David Howarth I'm going to go through all your videos when the mrs is at work and relax with a cuppa so I'll see all the changes. Again thank you so much for sharing and so much pleasure to me :)
Hi al ..uyes not sure why its same on my RUclips now when i check in this video comes up, looking back though think it was a lot better then , but the upkeep took a lot more time ..cheers Dave

+David Howarth. No space here mate. When I lived in Northampton my loft was kitted out for my layout., plus I`m a musician so any spare space is taken up by my instruments, and I have loads of pet cockatiels to look after. And yes it was 23c today. John .
+John McCann 23 d. phew ..it was +2d . this morning ...felt colder ....O well I shall have to wait for holidays to get to that temp , we went to Tenerife in early November and it got to 27d ..that sure felt warm for us living up here in the North of the UK ....enjoy you retirement in the sun ...Dave

Super tour of the layout Dave! You certainly have put a lot of work into it! Loving all the signals and lights! Very clever tip for log loads! Was wondering how you made them! All your building look amazing with all the lights and people in side! They guy keeps on popping up every where! LOL! Super running clips! Tried to filmed the weathering commissions I did in action today, but all did not go well so I might give it a miss sadly. Keep up the great work as always!
Hi Dave: I am an 80 year young and just starting in Model RR.Have N gauge 30" x 59" lay out and I give you the credit for getting me started you do an awsome job with the video' s, keep up the great work. Don Koenig
Hi Donald , sorry I gave wrong measurements there ...should have been just 5"from lower to upper level , have just been and done a full measurement check so will post on this next video ..but they are here for you to see ....30 ft. Long ....7ft. wide, H.from floor to first level 3ft.6"....and 2ft.10 " right had side to center with 2ft.11" on the other side and the lower to upper level is 5"..so as I say sorry for giving you wrong dimensions ...And well at 80 to start is never too late , I know N gauge will be more difficult to model , but all the very best to you with this project .....Dave
This Sir is a damn fine work of art. I've come here because me and my Dad have decided to join forces and build a model railway. He's been in and out for years n' years and as a child it obviously rubbed off on me. I'm 32 now and I can't wait to get started.
Glad you found this and its given you inspiration to get started with your Dad , its a hobby you will enjoy , and helps pass the time especailly in winter time ..cheers dave
David I did watch earlier tv of your layout which I was amazed with it. I just could not think that it could be improved upon, but you have proved me wrong. What an amazing man you are, thank you very much. Harry Day, Edinburgh.
WOW! I'm not into trains but happened to stumble on your video. To say I'm impressed is an understatement. I admire people who can build what you have achieved. Well done!
Thank you very much Christopher for your kind comment , its a hobby I started 7 years ago when I retired and it sort of overtook me I got carried away but enjoyed doing this .....Cheers Dave
Hello, I just came upon your channel and your layout is very impressive, a fine piece of work. I particularly like the rows of houses and other buildings with the brick facades and the scratchbuilt bridge. I look forward to seeing the rest of your videos as inspiration as I begin my own railroad long overdue. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful layout!
Hi Peter , thank you very much for your comment , good luck with building your railroad , its a great hobby and something that I have enjoyed now for the last 10 years , few changes have happened along the way ...but keeps the old grey matter going ..Thanks again and here is my latest showing how I have overcome a problem getting under my layout ...as now getting very arthritic and finding a problem using the access ruclips.net/video/v8BfqLmuHS8/видео.html Cheers Dave
I have been away from the computer for a bit. I have to say you have done an amazing job. The layout is fantastic. The lighting looks great. You have been a very busy man, my friend. You also managed to fit in a few weekends and side trips. Your weekend getaway looked like a perfect spot. You can't beat the old time rock and roll. There must have been a heck of a storm for the water to be that rough. The break water was taking a good beating. Your little buddy must of got his butt kicked. I can see why there was nobody there at that time. Your visit to Scarborough looked like it was a pleasant time. It looks like a nice place. I liked the little protected harbor. I have to get caught up on all my mails and messages. Sorry it took so long to respond. As always it's always a visit to pay a visit to you and Deb.
Hi Bob , welcome back ..thanks for the compliment ... that weekend away at Harrogate was great , nice Hotel and food with great entertainment it was my birthday so had to celebrate (and I did ) the layout if I dare say it is now done ?but as you know I shall be no doubt changing somethings but yes fairly pleased with how it came out myself ...Think now its time took me off on one of those coach tours to give the railway a rest !! ....Cheers Dave
"...my wife Deb, also known as The Stig...for her gentle driving shall we say..." had me in stitches. Creative skills and a Sense of humour!! Brilliant
WEll I think that most Debs must have a desire for fast driving , mine certainly has ....just starting to slow down now as we get older .....glad you found the video entertaining ..cheers Dave
Well done Dave. A really great layout and you can be very proud and satisfied with all the hard work you have done to make this a remarkable piece of [engineering]. There really is something very magical about steam and displays such as your are the only way of showing the younger generation what they have missed.Once again Dave Well Done
Thank you very much Peter , there has been a few heartaches doing this one , but got there in the end , maybe it will help a few would be modellers realise what can be achieved with a layout ..and no need to get carried away like I did LOL ..but even a few changes have been made since this was taken , just uploaded a xmas video showing the layout as it is now ruclips.net/video/VqCGhQXflV0/видео.html hope you can enjoy this one ...Cheers dave
just spotted this video david, your a bloody genius . Ive not seen as good at many public displays. I just love it. Makes me want to start all over again. Regards Duncan.
Hi Duncan , well thank you very much for your very kind comment , been loads of changes since this , and just doing a big re design just now , be brave an start over again , I do it regularly ...Cheers Dave
Dave, you give so much inspiration. Been following you for quite a while and can't wait to get mine started. I was just thinking whilst watching , that a track level trip round the layout would be good and at the end, you mentioned it. It's a big thank you from me and a very well done. Barry.
Thats a kind thing to say Barry , and glad it has helped to get you in the mood to get stuck in , yes I shall try and get a video out soon with a track level video , got to find that minicam and make sure it still works ...Cheers Dave
Fantastic layout Dave, thanks for your advice re lighting. I have bought a regulated power supply and will wire my LED lights with 3 volt supply. I love the raised section of the line at the back too.
Hi Andy , yes Herbie still got his friend there sat with him ...Herring Gull was doing a good performance there , and always a few diesels about on my layout ...Thanks for commenting ...Greetings Dave
Layout looks amazing all the scenery looks great like the pub and burger bar and the two layers with trains running adds to the layout well done. Cheers
hi dave unbelievable that its finished it really looks good lots of fine detail looks busy but not overcrowded nice running session see your little mate is still around....keith.
Thanks Keith , just wondered if I had put too much on there , but it is about right , trouble is I had twice as much from the last layout and trying to place it was a problem , so some have been binned solved that problem .. my little helper still hanging in there , keep threatening him when I get a pot of tea ..make a nice dunk in the tea ......Cheers Dave
Hi Dave, I think you have the best model railway layout of UK. Excellent Video from the model scenery. Here everything is just right down to the smallest detail. My congratulations on this successful model railway layout. Greetings Günter
That is a very kind comment from you Gunter ..there are a lot of good ones though ..but we do have a bit of fun with this hobby ....Thanks again ..and Greetings Dave
Thank you very much Steve , it did come out not too bad to say no plan as such , kept me busy during the winter , looking forward to work on the garden and my fish now ....cheers dave
Brilliant - great use of loft space. We're just starting ours as a retirement project, but I can't see it ever growing to the scale of yours. Some nice ideas there - well done and thanks for sharing it!
Tha k you very much Steve , it has helped the winter pass , and with having everything at hand it was easier this time to get the layout up and running ..garden and fish time soon and not forgetting NYMR ...cheers dave
Glad you enjoyed it Nick , old one this though been a few re builds since then ....been bit idle these days , time i got up there an run a few again ..cheers Dave
I love your lay-out, Very nice detail with all the lights and sounds. I have just invested in my first Model rail set up and I would Love to do a mock up of the line from Plockton scotland to the Kyle of Lochalsh, as I traveled this line when I was in Scotland in 1990. Your lay-out has given me many ideas. I like your use of lighting for the billboards and buildings. Thank you for a wonderful video.
+Drew Byars Thank you very much , I am sure you will enjoy your new model railway set , it takes a while to build a layout up with all the scenics , but there are plenty of tutorials out there , so take it steady and enjoy ...all the best ..cheers Dave
Excellent Tour. Most enjoyed. I think a layout tour lets the viewer see all aspects of a layout which is good because in a normal update people will only see the changes. Thanks for the upload. Great Work
Thank you for commenting , yes I thought it would show better having a all round picture of the layout ....its just a problem trying to hold the camera and turn at the same time , should get a good tripod I know ..thanks again ..Dave
In someways this reminds me of Pennsylvania. A couple CSX SD-40 engines would fit right in particularly at the town scene. This is such a nice sharing. Thank you.
eottoe2001 Glad you enjoyed , this is a old one , I have just downloaded my latest layout which is nearly completed ... have a good Christmas ... cheers Dave
That's a wonderful layout..Why you should have so many dislikes is beyond me. But ignore them, you've done a cracking job and how nice to share your money saving tips too. very useful to those who have just started this hobby. Best of luck !
Robert D Black Thank you very much , funny this has just been dismantled , and I have started a new layout , so hoping it will turn out even better , and easier to reach all area’s , it’s what we do every so often , build one then start all over again ... cheers Dave
Absolutely fantastic!. I am new to modelling and can't even begin to imagine how you started to put all this together. Ah well a step at a time I guess! Al
amazing stuff Dave Love the Steam Train layouts just makes me remember being a kid sitting on the swing with my pap at 4 looking at the model train magazines. Man i wish i could get into this
Thank you Brett , it was only 7 years ago that I first took an interest in this Hobby and now I am 71 , so you got chance to start yet ....thanks for commenting ...Cheers Dave
Great layout Dave, you have done a fantastic job on it and in a short amount of time, looking forward to the cab ride on the layout.. Great Job enjoyed watching..
Thank you very much Phill, good luck with the shed and building your model railway , may be an idea to insulate the shed before you start , as a lot have suffered damp in there sheds which does not do a model railway any good...Cheers dave
Brilliant. Always wanted to do this, just started looking into this 'model' railway world - another sharp learning curve (going to do a 1944 theme). Yours is fantastic. The background is particularly good.
Thank you very much John for your Kind comment , look forward to seeing your layout with the 40`s theme , its a great hobby, and keeps us busy in the winter time ...Cheers Dave
hahaha looks fantastic. Just managed to get a deltic for my gala royal scots grey planning is stressful as it is the cancer train this weekend too free travel behind 47715 'Poseidon' and you can win a cab ride on it
I just found an old model railway in my loft from the old owner, an old lady who had a husband who owned it , both are sadly long dead but I found it I decided to clear out all the dust and I would get it working again and expand it, now it's a huge model railway with a city and a metropolitan line style underground line, I'm so proud of the old owner and myself and I going to do more work on the main terminus
WEll done on your part , nothing like restoring a old layout and getting everything working again , I shall have to take a view of one of your videos , have you got some of the layout ? ..Cheers dave
fantastically narrated video and layout its a real credit to you a lot of hard work and hours has gone into this excellent example of how to produce an A1 hornby work of art real belting dave

Why would 59 people dislike this?? It's a great layout. Probably jealousy.
Hi Laurie ..well could be ..but some jokers seem to like doing that ..thanks for commenting ..cheers dAve
Theres always haters...
It's total ignorance. They have no idea what goes into a layout like this and therefore don't appreciate it.
I'm jealous too but so greatful that people like this upload cos I can't afford anything like this so I'd never get the pleasure of looking at it. It's incredible

I love these displays as a kid I could sit and watch these trains go by for hours...
Paul Frazer Glad you enjoyed .. been a few changes since this ... Cheers Dave
An awesome layout Dave. I particularly like your illuminated advertising hoardings. An incredible effort in such a comparably short time. Well done.
Thank you very much Geoff , those advertising Hoardings do add that bit , when I first saw them I thought must put a few on my layout .....Cheers Dave
Looks great. Smooth running as usual. Glad to see the duplicate suspension bridge. And so quickly, it seems. Thanks.
You found the completed one , yes and few changes been made since this was done....Cheers dave

Colin Prosser Hi Colin , few changes since this was taken , but it’s a great hobby .. Cheers Dave

That's a great model railroad you've got there. I love the long runs you've got and especially like your scenery and villages.

Very well done Dave = enjoyed it and near fell off the chair with laughter at the pop-up at 7.30 and enjoyed the layout even more.
Thank you glad you enjoyed it , ginger bread man seems to have made a new home in my loft these days lol....Cheers Dave
In someways this reminds me of Pennsylvania. A couple CSX SD-40 engines would fit right in particularly at the town scene. This is such a nice sharing. Thank you.
eottoe2001 Glad you enjoyed , this is a old one , I have just downloaded my latest layout which is nearly completed ... have a good Christmas ... cheers Dave
Looking good Dave, excellent layout of a fair size aswell. Hopefully this one will be many years of happy modelling.

looks brilliant Dave bet you glad you don't have to pack it away at the weekends lol hopefull will get my shed when the weather improves
Thank you very much Phill, good luck with the shed and building your model railway , may be an idea to insulate the shed before you start , as a lot have suffered damp in there sheds which does not do a model railway any good...Cheers dave

Excellent work Dave.Making a start on a layout in the garage for my set. Cheers for now.
