I have had the honor to be tested by Master Rhee for my 2nd dan and participate in a few of Master Jhoon Rhee's functions. He has always had a more indirect part of my life. God Bless

Today's young martial artists could learn a lot from this; had Jhoon Rhee been a top competitive fighter would he have been remembered with such love & affection? Perhaps not, he's mourned & remembered well because he was a good person, human, I'm sure, but he tried to be a good example for others to follow. RIP, Grandmaster Rhee.

Even when your clean living athlete you still can die prematurely like master Rhee.
I'd loved him to live to 100. RIP.

Grandmaster Rhee gave me my black belt personally. In the time I knew him, the best advice he ever gave me was... "Don't get married until you are successful, successful men get prettier girls."

Funny you said that, I remember him as just as quick with his humor as he was physically. He tested me for my 2nd dan in 1992, what year did you test for blk?

I met him when I was a child, while at a matial arts tournament for a different style martial arts, I did realize it till after he did when I saw what he looked like after he died. During this time I had been taking Taekwondo under his teachings. I couldn't believe I didn't realize that but I was never good at putting names and faces together. I just recently received my black belt June sixth at 40.

With all due respect GM did not teach Bruce lee how to kick. Lee and Rhee met at a tournament in 1964.
Watch the extended version on RUclips. His kicks were incredible.
While they may have worked out.
Lee's very great even before GM Ghee.
BTW do you really think he taught Ali anything about punching that he didn't already know?

Actually they taught each other. After they met at the tournament, they were very fond of each other so Lee taught Karate and Jeet Kun Do to Rhee and Rhee taught Taekwondo.
He also taught Muhammad Ali Acupunch where he won the Munich championship defending game by KO using it and made a comment to the media
Here's the video of Lee's speech at UN at age 77, he breaks 3 boards with acu-punch and tells the story of how he taught Ali and Lee. This is pretty interesting vid as Albert Einstein's grandson holds the boards for him. Take a look if you are interested (ruclips.net/video/o2YF5NVtTCQ/видео.html)
