Very underated actor is Peter. He played Leonard with just the right balance of pathos /comedy but ensuring the character was respected even when being humoured. Very difficult to achieve
I'll tell you that for nowt, son!
True, the acting skills he puts into his characters is genius in its self! Yep the guys an all round comedy genius 👌
I guess we have all met a Leonard at least once in our lives. He nails it.
Leonard was a real person! Peter knew him when working the petrol station!! Proper nice
Peter Kay just oozes comedic talent he's a legend.
Except his stand up......thats utter crap. His characters are spot on
@@coops9871 his stand up is crap? Come on man, it’s not. Nish Kumar is crap. Basically every comedian today is crap. Live at the Apollo is dog shit nowadays. Peter is funny man.
I wish he would do more stuff like this, max and paddy etc.
"I tell a lie... And close one eye" 😂😂😂
"Eddie, u got any poppers" 😂😂😂
i'll have these and a twix
"Try dem there, pure gold, blow yer tits off!"
Still my favourite thing Peter Kay ever did. Probably because after listening to the commentary on 'That Peter Kay thing' where he went to the funeral of the real Leonard and talks about him - you can't help being touched by this tribute. I need to read the PK bio that people discuss here to learn more.
It takes great talent to make something comic out of something that is actually quiet sad. This was respectful comedy at its best and probably why it is so enduring
This is one of the greatest works of British comedy of all time. Beautifully, tenderly observed, it's just incredible. I grew up in a northern town not far from Bolton and even now people are very much like this. Leonard should be a morose and tragic character, but his lightness and small joys outshine his circumstances. Peter Kay's finest work.
I miss Peter Kay. The world needs a laugh 😢
That wasn't Turkey George...it was Ronnie Pickering.
@Tucker Ronnie pickering on u tube 😂
Who ??
😉🤣
This is one of my favourite Peter Kay characters. He should have made a full series out of it.
7:03 Doreen GASH, Bolton's best lollipop lady 1999. 🤣
She is peters real life mum
Love his auntie. Everyone has an auntie like that.
Den Perry behind the counter. This is so good. Kay is very underrated as an actor and a writer... Beautiful stuff
After reading his autobiography Peter actually knew a real person called Leanod who was just like this
She were in labour for 36 hours,And then nurse noticed,, they just hadn't taken her tights off! WTF! 😂🤣😅 😆 👍
Peter Kay living legend
"Jab sister jab"
The bit about NASA was excellent...
So good to see Peter Kay's early work again.
Loved this series, especially the introduction episode for Phoenix Nights.
Genius
Me and my son still used
the croak it joke on a regular basis. Peter Kay is brilliant 👌👏👏🤣😂🤣😂
**got any poppers** 🙈🙈😂😂
"WILL YE SHIFT!!!"
"Try them there. Pure Gold. Blow ya tits off."
Peter Kay is a gift from God, to us all.
This was one of the best things Kay done. Funny but very sad as well. In his autobiography he writes about a real Leonard.
robg71 puts it in context when you’ve read about the real man.
That peter thing was the best by far
i remember the real lenoard , used to deliver papers in the daubhill area of Bolton
I remember seeing this on TV when it first came out, well before Peter Kay was well known. I actually thought this was a real documentary!👍😎
😯😁😊
@@CricketEngland Yeah I quickly realised it was a spoof of a real documentary, especially when I watched the others in the series, with the ice cream man etc👍😎😁
Leonard , well observed , funny and sad , the character reminds me of a crime watch reconstruction from the 80s of a person who would meet an untimely demise .
Come back Peter Kay ...we all need a laugh at the moment..!
You probably killed 'em all 😂😂😂
This is my fav Peter Kay character, thanks for posting.
Mine to! Great to see this old but goodie back!
Nice to see there are others who think this is PK best character. I mean there is a lot to choose from but Leonard will always be my favourite
What a special character you've created in Mr. Leonard, Peter. Please, more 📹 videos of this story.Muchas gracious, M .
"What hand do you wipe yer bum with?" lol!!! XD
"Who's odd now, ey?"
"You odd!" Hehe! 😆
That Peter Kay Thing was amazing.
Might of melted a bit in me sack. Andy England 🇬🇧🤣😂
the upside down cross pinned to his wall 😂😂
“What would my girlfriend say?”
“You’ve probably killed them all...”
Hahaha his laugh was genuine then as well I reckon.
the awkward silence for a moment after it 😂😂
"Here ya go little fellow" "Hey gerrof me ya dick"🤣🤣🤣 ..Loving the teeth and proper flannelette pillow cases.😁😁😁
Epic.... Keep them coming, makes my bloody day...✌✌👍👍
All this series we're spot on, we are all different when it comes to humour! Funny or not very clever and the observations are class. Peter is a genius with it all
Funny nun she boxes for god😂😂
Oh my god I can’t find this anywhere my Mrs thought I was making it up 👍👍👍👍
Love Leonard 😁
“I tell a lie close one eye” 😂😂
Was the lollipop lady called Dorean Gash? 😆😆
Yeah his mum also!
"you probably killed 'em all" 😂😂
Miss him so much!
Thanks for uploading this mate 👏🏻
have a bit of quiche lmaoooooooooooo
This has to be my absolute favourite.
That Peter Kay Thing was such a fantastic series.
Look it’s Turkey George!
Peter you are a legend bro
"Have ya got any poppers?" 😄
So underrated so many inspiring quotes
Suffers from angina 😂
Michael McDonald, how does he get time to hold down a newspaper round?
Great vid and good to see Spit the Dog again.
i forgot about this character hilarious just to invent it is funny ha greets from Liverpool
He didn't invent him, he was based on a real guy he knew. It was quite a tragic story as well. If you get the "That Peter Kay Thing," DVD the commentary tells the story. His autobiography tells the story too.
Wrong Chorley market is Tuesdays lol
Fantastic 😂
Watch Peter with Catherine Tate's Nan. Funny as hell.
Shame people in the UK take the piss out of people like this and call them sad. In other cultures being called 'simple' and always happy with your lot is a compliment.
I knew a few Leonard type characters from my old town where I grew up. Always had time for them. Long after they pass - they are the ones that you remember the most.
@@davidcoxon4710 They are truly the spice of life .
We had one in our town called Malcolm, he’d always sing Elvis to the old dears waiting at the bus stop 👌
We had Dancing Ken, as he was known. Loved country and western music and had his house and car painted with cowboys. Raised a lot for charity. Massive turnout for his funeral. Respect.
Felt this.
Am like Leonard live on my own and got no friends😭
4:18 he was in phoenix nights
come back to us Peter,we miss you so very very much, whatever your doing wherever you are no your incredibly missed,we love you mate !!!!
Doreen Gash 😂😂😂
Lots of Phoenix Nights in this, The hill where he is carrying the cross, is the very first scene in Phoenix Nights where Brian is in his mobility scooter with Chorley FM in the background.
Mum was in labor for 36 hours nurse then noticed she had her tights on...LMAO...
Once you know the bit in his biography about Leonard, this is different for sure.
Jammin 😂
Peter kay takes on people we know live our areas we all know someone like this 😅😅😅😅😅😅
Thankfully, no.
The last joke about the frog is. Because when you croak we’re all going to Disney Land
The late Kenny Rogers?
It wasn't his fault...... Kenny's watch stopped.
@@LordBingham1 His death is described in 'The Gambler'.
He looks like james arthur when he dressed up and played in the mall 😂
"Yardley Gold".
2:53 I’m fucking done🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣Jesus
I'm sure they have re-dubbed Peter's voice as the off-screen interviewer asking Leonard the questions quietly.
Yavin that one ?? 😃
I've been wondering for ages what that Tones & I video for "Dance Monkey" reminded me of!
I've cracked it! - It's only fucking LEONARD!
Anyone from Bolton who recognises the newsagents? I lived there years ago and recognise the front but not the name. @4:22
Royston at 5 min!
It's weird that's there's actually people like this 😂
36 hours labour but forgot to take her tights off 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is actually quite sad. Poor Leonard, he seems like such a sad soul. Peter kay is funny though 😁
See ya, wouldn't wanna be ya!
Hi
I know obviously this is satire but my Nan bless her was from the same area as Peter and she did a full paper round until she was 73, two roads on her round with 15+ steps to the doors too! We don’t know what graft is these days!
Doreen Gash
He delivered the paper too Mary Shuttleworth !… I wonder if John was in residence or was he next door with his soul agent ken worthington
I love how he casually pinches a woman's arse....then says in the next scene it's his auntie Jackie.
Was that a fart 5:58
Will you shift!!!!!
northerners are naturally funny😂😂😂😂
Not sure Peter Sutcliffe had much of a funny bone.
Any more generalisations?
You’ve obviously never visited Grimsby 🤪🤣
rj rj still though, north > south funnier in every way
That was Catherine Tate doing the introduction there.
Yep. Andy England 🇬🇧👍
dont you think he looks like kenny rogers
Can you make a noise like a Frog?
Why??
Because when you Croak were Going to Florida!
Poor Leonard Peter kay is a good actor though
Netto bag.
Did he base this character on Michael MacDonald? The similarity is uncanny.
..............Is it acute angina !?!?!?
Croke...?
Croak.....
Its slang talk for 'to die'
Scary thought: because there's no canned laughter (a.k.a. 'live studio audience') telling people what's a joke and when to laugh, a lot of peeps who don't know Peter Kay's work are going to think this is a real documentary.
Even scarier thought: in some parts of this sad old world this would BE a documentary. Thank you, Jaayzuss...
