Definitely true for Geordies, but I met a group from a Wigan nightclub at the top of Scafell Pike - they had climbed up there in exactly that rig, birds, high heels and t-shirts. Mind you, once at the top, they had no idea of which direction to go to get off the hill in the fog - a bit like when you reach the South Pole, every direction is North.
I saw an interview with one of the black footballers that signed for Newcastle and he said they'd shown him photos of Newcastle city centre and the women all dressed as they do and thought it must be warm there so he signed. Whether he was kidding or not I don't know, but it seemed he was serious. Funny story either way

Have you seen the other Geordie videos? Vic Reeves is convinced that all Geordie Os are pronounced as ERs e.g. "Ferm (foam), phern (phone)". I grew up in Newcastle, only once in my entire life did I ever hear an ER instead of an O. I used to have a go at some kids for going over the top with contrived broad Geordie. There were some kids I chased up a tree in my area and they were being all smug and cocky because they were up where I couldn't beat them up, and one of them really let go with some diatribe. I said "Why are you speaking in that ridiculous accent?" and his mate said "Because he's a Gerrrrrrdie!". A 'Gerdie'... dear me. When did that get popular? My coal miner grandfather will be turning in his grave.
