Given the two, It looks like having Dean cut the OEM is the way to go to eliminate the annoying bounce.
What MPH was the ski running with just the OEM stock plate?
That will answer the big question!

This is y I just picked up a 2016 fx svho. Didn’t want to deal with figuring out this whole debacle. Good luck. Ski is very nice. Especially with the wrapped pieces
Yup. A few guys recommend that older style plate to me. The new 2022 FX plate is a redesign so I'm waiting to hear anything on that one

@@jsmartin1300 i didn't know Jerry has them available. I'm curious to know if a cut one by dean still gets purpoising. These Riva plates give you more top end mph but they bounce. Even my 2018 VXR bounces with the Riva plate

@@JeTsKi_MiSfItS I have the 22 and I get that bounce 🤦🏽♂️ some times and when it’s in no wake mode I feel the front is low so I do get the splash 💦 I feel if he changes his intake great it would make all the difference might be starving for water at higher speeds
Which ride plate you like it better dean's cut vz riva
The Riva ride plate cut is definitely faster by 1-2mph but causes my FX to bounce. OEM dean's team cut doesn't bounce but it's slower.

Just got my Riva plate back from Dean's Team last week...
It was cut a little different than the one in the video....
Dean didn't cut my Riva plate. Dean did cut my stock plate. Dvt performance cut my Riva plate

@@JeTsKi_MiSfItS yes....he cut it on the top. I had to get different bolt heads to keep them from sticking out of the bottom of the plate!
Have you had your hull trued yet? From the factory new these hulls are really wavy if you put a straight edge on them.
No, but i do know these hulls have variations. I also have gator glide applied
@@JeTsKi_MiSfItS From what I have heard and read is Gator glide is great if you're not running higher speeds. Watercraft Journal has a big segment on hull coatings and what it does to the actual tracking of the hulls. That might be your issue.
@@petrosh20 I watch watercraft journal and spoke to Kevin about that. We both agreed gator glide must be applied from chine to chine. I showed him a video of me going thru the twisties and narrow curves of the Kissimmee river. Handling isn't affected when applied correctly and top speed I've tested and had others tested up to 85mph with no affects. Purpoisong is very common among 19- present hull fxs over 78mph without gator glide
Which plate did you use on the river ride segment in the video?
Outside of topspeed numbers , does one plate (riva cut vs deans Oem cut) provides a noticeable benefit?? Say for example, angle of nose, splashing in turns, tracking in chop?
The ride at the end of the video is with my Riva cut plate. I left it on. Just added some spacers today to it to see if it alleviates the bouncing. I also took off my pump wedge. I don't expect the same top end speed but it shouldn't be a big difference. Will find out soon. I have Riva sponsons on the most aggressive setting so i didnt notice any handling difference. The Riva sponsons hook like a train on rails and i would assume off set any difference with the ride plates
The Riva ride plate definitely brings up the nose higher than the cut OEM plate tho. The cut OEM plate barely bounces but u also lose close to 2mph top speed
@@JeTsKi_MiSfItS may you please share the "spacers" you are using. Maybe a link to exact SKU/model number. I ordered a Riva ride plate at the end of October, I have yet to receive it.. I am leaning towards canceling and asking Dean to cut it.
@@JeTsKi_MiSfItS makes me want to wait for the RIVA to squeeze every last drop of mph. But the wait is unbearable. It makes me think they are redesigning the plate after all the complaints. (Wishful thinking, I know)
@@dreknotz1996 don't forget the 2022 FX OEM ride plate is a new redesign. It might be that perfect balance between speed and bouncing

That's a lot of gators. What river was that?
Ohhh believe me there's wayyy more than a lot 😂 i tested the ski between the locks of the Kissimmee river, Florida but most of the gators are outside of the canal locks. Take a look at the video i uploaded yesterday so you can see my drone footage of it. It's gator land

To add sealant on the ride plate Mets the front of it or just to the bolts ?
Blue loctite on the screws. That's all 15lbs of torque
@@JeTsKi_MiSfItS thank you for the quick replies, after watching most of your videos , I was puzzled if I did something wrong as I took it out put new in and tighten up the bolts did not add sealant now my speed is off and have cavitation .. any advice @rob
@@BiLoSellHigh the cavitation has nothing to do with your ride plate. Check the intake grate, prop or wear ring. The plate has nothing to do with cavitation. If it started after u put in the plate then something went wrong around with the intake grate. Not aligned when installed back? Screws not all in? Check all that but it's not the plate. Do u have a pump seal kit for the intake grate?

That bounce is annoying did you try changing the intake grate?? Might be starving for water
Yes. Riva intake grate. The only thing that alleviated the bouncing was the stock plate cut by dean's team

@@Blue-wv1rg no, as i showed in this video the Riva plate causes more bounce but higher top end speed. Stock plate less bounce slightly lower top speed

I currently have theme Riva plate on 21 fx with washers and the bounce is terrible!
Try adding fuel tanks in the rear, it will get worse lol I'm curious how a new FX cut plate performs

My friends, the original is far better when cut by deans team...no Washers no bouncing...
It's slower. I tested both. Stock plate cut is slower by 1-1.5mph

@@policecj22 the extended plate is faster than the shorter OEM plate. Even dean will tell u that. I've tested it on my FX and a GP. Extended plates are faster than the short 2018-2021 FX plate. Even the 16-18 OEM plate is faster. That's why in 2022 the FX OEM plate is extended from the factory
@@JeTsKi_MiSfItS I wonder how the 22 plate does for our 20 ski. The bounce with riva is ridiculous. They honestly needed to recall these or at least update the plate.
@@Driven82 that 22 plate should definitely be better. Still haven't gotten my hands on one tho
