excellant tutorial mario.I am 61 and have just taken up piano style playing again after many years playing organ style.this is another piece I must learn thanks for inspiring me to learn it.
mario thank you... you are an inspiration to me.. your tutorials are amazing, and really have helped me with better understanding inverted chords and many other things and your style of tutorial is really interesting and as said inspiring.. ignore the idiots with negative things to say... they haven't got anything better to do. please for my sake keep up the good work.. thanks again
hello, I wanted to tell you that I found your tutorial very useful, I've learned to play the right hand of this song very fast... This is the song my boyfriend's brother used to play. He passed away a while ago, now I'm learning the song... For me it's important to be able to play this song well... Thank you for helping me a bit on my way :) Merel
You play so effortlessly and make it look so simple. This is my favorite song. Thank you for making the instructional video. It really does help. The beginning is great also, how you fade in and out. My twins think you're a ghost, lol.
Thanks Mario for been a good teacher, i learn this song from your advice. looks on my Movie, a beginners try to play this song. the hard thing was to get the courage to play to diffent thing in same time!
very useful mario. I have always wanted to play piano after learning the guitar and this song is great to learn. Your guide was extremely helpful mate :)
Thanks alot! I tried to play this before but my hand started to hurt because I didn't bring the 5th finger in. It's great that you teach those little details!
@Snipefox: It's a Yamaha Disklavier Mark IV Pro Grand Piano. Yes, it can play back performances with the keys and pedals moving precisely how you originally played it. At around 30 seconds in, I gave the URL for the Yamaha website that gives more information about Disklavier pianos. They are amazing instruments.
hi... your tutorial really helps. I teach myself to play piano pieces and I already learned For Elise. I would like to learn this for next. It's so cool. :)
@WhiterDeath: I used to be really picky with my students about that too, but it seems that our culture has accepted the term "song" to equate to music in general (i.e. when you buy a piano piece or string quartet from the iTunes Store, the button says "Buy Song").
wow man your tutorials are so amazing! the visual aids help so much...too bad there arent other tutorials who use the same softwares as you! keep up the great work Can you please make a tutorial for this song "River Flows in You" by Yiruma thanks
@IcyGirl01: That's why I taught the easier Alberti bass version without the octaves. It still sounds pretty good especially for pianists with smaller hands.
@Bouyeah: I'm always surprised that there are still people who can't read traditional music notation with so many resources available (many for free online). I'm definitely going to make a video this summer to address this. People who want to play piano at a certain level will find themselves hitting a wall if they don't learn how to read music notation at least on the treble and bass staves.
I love the invisible effect that you made. YOu did it just using iMovie? Don't you need After Effects or Premiere Pro for that effect? Maybe you ought to do a video on video effects too. Haha. Cheers! Great videos by the way. Thanks.
hi. idd like to ask wich program you use i have a yamaha psr e-403 with usb port so i'd like to convert it to a mp3 sample by the way i leart much from your instructions
how can i learn to play this song, with out any knowledge of notes??? anyone know if there is a video showing how to play it????????? i can memorize it, but i dont know knotes! please help me:) i LOVE this song! its beautiful.
I'm stuck at the last arpesheo (the repeating part) is there any logic to putting that with the left hand as there was for the part before that you talked about?
@FayOhFay maybe you should try the synthesia game with the given midi file to the song of amelie. Synthesia shows you every single key which is playing on the keyboard of a piano. you can search in google or (if you're lucky enough) you will find a video with footag of synthesia with amelie. just search words like "comptine d'un autre ete: l'apres midi synthesia"
Hey! J'adore t'es video,et la façon d'on tu joue!bref j'adore cette musique la c'est une de mes preferer (L) desolé je ne sais pas trop ecrire anglais bonne continuation bisous bye ____________________________ Hey! I love is video to you, and manner of one you plays! in brief I love this music her is it one of my preferer (L) desolé I too much do not know how to write English good continuance kisses bye
How do you know when your hands are too small to play a particular song? I can play an octive but not another note above that on a keyboard whose keys are about 2.1cm or 8/10s of an inch each.
i love this piece =]. the start is played a little too fast though. this isnt too hard to learn if you practice enough. the key to play this song is to practice a lot!
@janalala Maybe I'll make a video for you on how to correctly spell the word, "wasting". I don't mind wasting your time when I can cater to a majority audience that is appreciative and values quality music instruction.
anyone have a method of how to play the last part ? cause its hard for me to keep the rythem of the left hand slow as the right hand plays faster...... im stuck and need help training the 2 hands to do different speeds
@Feflee: Hopefully the simplified Alberti bass version of the left hand without the octaves that I showed in the video makes it more accessible for you and people with smaller hands.
@Bouyeah: RUclips limits the videos to only 10 minutes. As I said in the video, you can probably figure out most of the right hand since it uses mostly chord tones or neighbor tones of the chords in the left hand. If you can't, then I encourage you to purchase the sheet music from the link on my blog. Thanks!
@TIJSNL: It's a Yamaha Disklavier Piano. You can learn more about it on the websites that I mentioned in the video, or just search "Yamaha Disklavier" on Google.
Okayyy, I love this piece to death, but I'm just a newly beginning piano player (I find that people refer to themselves as beginners after years still, well, I'm not such a kind of beginner, I'm a REAL beginner-beginner (or quicker said; I've only been playing piano for 12 days so far)), and I was wondering... when can I even ATTEMPT to learn this? It's amazing, but I don't want to get ahead of things too much. How do I know when I'm ready for a piece like this?
@IAmJaguarPaw: Invisibility is just one of the many talents that I have. Just kidding. It's all through the magic of iMovie on a Mac and a Yamaha Disklavier Grand Piano.
@miano1 I teach the right hand to the dedicated students who purchase the music from the links that I mentioned in the video. You are obviously not familiar with copyright laws. If I teach the whole song here, then that is a violation to the copyright owners. The video would be pulled and my RUclips channel would likely be suspended, and THAT would be pointless. I do private video exchanges of the right hand with students who purchase the music though.
@MrChaol: No, I really have ability to become invisible when I play the piano. Just kidding!! Yes, it's a Yamaha Disklavier Mark IV Grand Piano. It has a built-in computer that can record your playing and mechanisms for all the keys and pedals to play them back exactly as you performed them.
@beavers42891 Try veeeery verrry slow practise with a metronome :). Then gradually speed up with the metronome, and you'll get it eventually. Best Regards
@redwinepouring: On the contrary, my perspective is that I'm promoting the art by encouraging viewers to financially support the composer's work and also the instruments and software that I find useful in educating people who want to play this piece. Meanwhile, people like you do nothing which is the real shame.
I have never in my life watched a piano tutorial with such high quality, I mean how you mixed reality with the software. Great editing job!
A really simple, easy to play piece that sounds atmospheric and beautiful. Love it.
Your style of explanation with such an ease is amazing.
This is the way I can learn the best. But there are just a few good teachers like you Mario...

The top How is spooky! How did you do that? *-*
@Feflee: Hopefully the simplified Alberti bass version of the left hand without the octaves that I showed in the video makes it more accessible for you and people with smaller hands.
chesfurfdude, he means the midi as in where did he get the music from, not the title. But pezmc that was him playing...
@ilift247: It retails just under $80,000.00, but we were able to get a bit of a discount on it.
thank u so much :D

@2ndMcKenzie: Thanks. You can buy the rest of the sheet music through the links on my blog that I talked about during the video at the 1:46 mark.
THANK YOOOOU!
@chanabnagar agreed
@gasparRadu: No use of Adobe here. Just a simple cross dissolve transition in iMovie.
When you dissapear its Cheshire Cat like! Im definitely going to learn this song.
ur magnificent!!
thnx
@IAmJaguarPaw: Invisibility is just one of the many talents that I have. Just kidding. It's all through the magic of iMovie on a Mac and a Yamaha Disklavier Grand Piano.
Hey is there anyone out there accenting the quadruplets the right way (on the first note)?
@miano1 I teach the right hand to the dedicated students who purchase the music from the links that I mentioned in the video. You are obviously not familiar with copyright laws.
