    Unfortunately, I can only give a thumbs down for the shop and the pressing. First order (Phil Collins - Face Value - Atlantic 75 series) was wavy and the second order (Dr. John - In The Right Place - Atlantic 75 series) was even worse.
    I reached out to the shop and received a reply from one of the logistic guys to my first email, but after waiting for over three weeks I didn't get a replacement and no reply at all to my last email.
    There is no mention of any problems in the videos. The fact that both pressings received are wavy and all the others should be perfect is a very strange coincidence...
    If you want to offer vinyl and service at a high level, this is the wrong way to go.

    Something tells me with your close relationship with Chad...we are going to be getting the same type of review on each of these releases in the next 3 years...."stunning, amazing, great sounding, beautiful Jacket, etc...🤔🤔🤔🤔

    I don't get the scammed on discogs comment you always put out. Not denying it happens, but it's pretty easy with some knowledge to know what kinda item you're getting based on seller reviews and history. Also better than a record fair most times because you can actually go about a return if you're not happy!

    paying stupid amounts of money on these OGs should be something to consider for SOME records in one's collection. Is my personal opinion. As we collect more and more, we realize how less often we get back to listen to the same record again in 1-2 years, maybe? I will always stick to only SOME records that worth a lot to me and buy the rest for a reasonable price I can afford and the quality I want.

    Great review Michael! I bought all three and they are stunning. As I am retired, I cannot afford UHQR releases, but I can afford the Atlantic 75 releases. And so far, they are all great.

    Hi there. Burning question: why was the Classic Record “out of the equation”? “Fast out the equation”? Please elaborate. Oh and btw, did you ever hear the German Large Mad Hatter? It even tops the before mentioned CR. In general, I’d include more releases in the first place in order to have a better overview of what’s out there. Simply comparing the Porky issue with a 45 RPM from Chad is no comparison as the Porky really suks. I’m sorry to say but this review has no meaning at all. No offence though.

    The porky is the one I didn’t have for my shootout. Glad the A75 tops it, so I don’t need to look for an OG right away 😜

    The Dr. John jacket (trifold) feels like direct to board to me rather than Stoughton tip on, no? I think the trifold would be too thick to use the usual Stoughton tip on style.

      Correct, a direct-to-board trifold jacket. May be printed by Stoughton, but incorrectly advertised on Acoustic Sounds & M45 Shop as a tip-on gatefold.

    Got the Foreigner today. It knocks the Mofi version out of orbit. Incredible sound. Will order the other Foreigner too. Simply great. I got the Dr. John as an SACD. Soundwise, it's incredibly good. I'm just disappointed that there's no nice cardboard cover here, just a jewel case. Gruß aus Hannover Manfred

    My copy of SEBTP had both records pressed off-center and warped (and sadly not close to the first time dealing with that from QRP). Kinda stopped marveling at the sturdiness of the jacket when a $60 record has about 60 cents worth of quality control.

    I like all three of them, stunning quality of sound, I wasn’t familiar with Dr John’s album so I enjoyed it more than the other two. Genesis’ album is my favourite of their entire collection so it was perfect addition. I had never heard the band Foreigner sound so amazing, as if they were a new band. We are very lucky to have this series!

    I am writing a follow up on my previous review. As already mentioned in that review, from @michael45, I received the albums:Phil Collins/Face Value/Atlantic 75 series & Dr. John/In The Right Place/Atlantic 75 series. I ordered these records based on the excellent reviews from Michael. To my surprise they were not of the quality described. Due to this fact I would like to share my experience with this series and the shop.
    THE GOOD
    -Sound quality is excellent
    THE BAD
    -Both albums were not as advertised “Flat, Beautiful, Perfect” but in fact they where wavy
    -The manner in which the shop handled my request for customer service was disappointing
    -Replacement was made for one vinyl, but not for both defective albums. This replacement was also defective (wavy)
    -The lack of transparency on the videos. I would guess these are not the first 2 albums with this issue, and as a reputable seller, I would expect this to have been a disclosed issue with this series.
    As a perceived expert with over 44k followers, integrity and truth in content is a must.
    I will follow this post with a video which displays the wavy motion. Feel free to comment if you have the same experience.

    My copy of the Dr. John arrived half an hour before I watched your video, Michael. I'll be listening to it very, very soon. The Genesis is getting such across-the-board raves that I might have to order it (after wavering about the need to do so). This Atlantic 75 series is a beautiful addition to the audiophile world.

    Wow thanks for this Michael! Foreigner was the first album I ever bought as a 9 year old in 1977. I still have it but the condition as you might suspect is fair. It is still one of my favorite albums because of the memories. The Damage is Done is brilliant. I bought the 33 75th Atlantic version last month but knowing I would probably need to have this one too. Now your review and comments below have verified I have to get it!

    I was given an original porky pressing by my uncle who was in the music business back in the day, sat sealed for about 15 years, played once until the great shoot out...no contest. OG's are cool, sometimes best pressings available but "The Better Records" crowd are kinda like the LP12 guys, they just don't sound quite right if you're not wearing your official Linn underwear. Intellectual honesty, a rare commodity indeed...buy the new AP pressing & never look back. Keep in mind the pursuit of the best in this hobby thrives on the natural built in insecurities of the so called audiophile.

    Fantastic titles Michael.
    So happy The Foreigner the big surprise so far.
    The Uk is decent sounding .RKS has obviously knocked it out the park.
    Fantastic news foreshadowing the standard to come.
    Genesis can’t wait for mine,do I add The Foreigner 🤔Dr John probably the best jacket so far in the series with cool music.
    Firth of Fifth majestic Hacketts guitar solo at the end surely one of the highlights.
    What will they do with the Bad Company if this is the standard.
    The Uk Og is a beauty.
    Thx Michael cool review 👌

    Very pleased (and a bit surprised) you found the Dr. John to be the most audiophile record of the batch! Not your typical "audiophile" music! May this be played at audioshows instead of, well... let's say "the usual suspects"!! Hell, I might even attend one again then....

    • @tomwebb7091
      @tomwebb7091 10 месяцев назад +1

      It is by far the best recorded album of the three. OG phase 1 Genesis isnt the best quality recording wise for example theres no chance of Trespass or Nursery Cryme ever beibg considered remotely audiophile. Foreigner is also somewhat primitive of recording.

    I have several versions of SEBTP including Japanese and Quiex SV-P, but _not_ the Porky version. Looking forward to giving the 45's a spin, one of my all time favorite recordings. However, there's *absolutely no way* I'll be springing for Foxtrot or Close To The Edge to name just 2. No matter how incredible the sound quality, the immersion will be entirely lost having to get up and flip an album in the literal middle of a song. Reminds me of how much I loathed 8 track. I also worry about The Lamb, I just can't see disrupting the flow, but it can't be as bad as the middle of a song. Nursery Cryme or Trick Of The Tail are shoo ins though! I'd absolutely snap up a 33 version of any album side song LP's without hesitation, but I doubt we'll ever see that happen.

    • @johnsmith9716
      @johnsmith9716 10 месяцев назад

      Wow, I had no idea Supper was split between sides until I read your post, then I had to go see for myself. Thats awful. I may still get it though if the sound on SEBTP is any indication how good the others are gonna be. They really don't have much choice if they're committed to 45rpm unfortunately. On a side note, I wonder why Trespass wasn't part of the series. Lack of master tape or source perhaps?

      Hehe gotta feel sorry for vinylistas having to sacrifice so much and pay through the nose for the heavily flawed if best sounding vinyl version when a superior and cheaper AP SACD counterpart is released.

    • @johnsmith9716
      @johnsmith9716 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@tomwebb7091 Instead of being snarky about it, why not share some useful information, like how to start putting together a reasonably priced SACD system that will best show off the format? I know I'd be interested in learning more about that.

    • @tomwebb7091
      @tomwebb7091 10 месяцев назад

      @@johnsmith9716 Wasnt trying to be "snarky" was just purely an observation. Ive got more LPs than CD/SACD myself and count myself as a vinylista but we are the ones who get screwed with the insane inflated prices of records these days and in some instances the LP is not the superior version. As someone who uses dcogs and forums to help him find good sounding releases on both formats thats a good start for anyone (if not a guarantee) and of course searching google for SACD player reviews helps get ideas. For example an excellent Arcam CDS50 can be had for £700 new and compared to a £700 tt/cart/phono pre setup it will likely be far superior assuming each format is usuing a similar source. Lots of good Marantz SACD players. Denon, Luxman and others too. Hard to make recommendations 2hen ive not heard the all nor know of others tastes and budgets. The only thing i ever unreservedly recommend is to USE ONLY YOUR OWN EARS and ignore the hype and bs out there and that includes recognising my opinion and observations are objectively mine alone and not to be trusted either ☺️
