Although my country (Spain) is too warm for ice fishing I found this video most enjoyable. Big bass and pike that put up powerful fights. Certainly a most interesting afternoon.

You, sir, are a mad lad running straight mono for pike! I’ve landed a few on ice and soft water without a leader, but the tipups all get a steel leader.
You'd think that ice fishing would even the odds against Matt, but the guy STILL manages to out-fish his buddies! 🤣 Just as a gag, I'd love to see Matt paddle his kayak onto the lake, flip a Whopper Plopper through the hole under the ice, and pull up a musky.
This is AWESOME! I've never caught a big pike and I've never gone ice fishing. I'm still pretty new to fishing, and I really really want to get a big ol' pike. Great video man!
I haven’t even seen ice thick enough to fish on yet. People think Canada is the arctic, but here in southern Ontario it’s been warm. We’re just getting consistent cold temperatures now. 😴
@@ndyakangler Yeah you guys are more similar to the prairies in Canada. My brother in law is from Wisconsin, you guys are all further north than I am. Cold weather will be here to stay for a while tho, so I’ll get out. 😂
I know it’s brutal. Gotta pretty far up there to get any decent ice. My lake is part of the Trent Severn too so there’s always a current and usually bad ice.
@@Smiththebat I’m in between Erie and Ontario. This cold snap will help out for sure. Currently have the snow squall generators in full effect. Hopefully they get enough ice this year. Some Erie perch would be nice. 😂

Can't believe you throw those pike back when ice fishing! Pefect eating size and freshwater fish are always the best out of the ice! I'm right next to the St.Lawrence river up in Northeast NY, can see Canada out of my living room window. The best fish up here come out of the ice. Hardly anyone keeps fish during the summer because of the parasites and other things growing in them when the water warms up. The cold season is when fish expell those things and get better oxygenated water to cleanes their systems, which in turn a better eating fish. Grew up with freezers full of winter caught fish filets eating them doing fish fry parties and clam bakes during the summer.
I'm looking forward to the walleye spawning run to start. The river I fish has been altered by Helene, and there are eight new log and debris piles sitting in the shallows in the middle of the river. God only knows what the underwater structure looks like. Weeks when you don't post a video are a drag. I was excited to see this one pop up in my feed. Looks like a good day.
I wish I had an ice season right now. You just made me want to get out even more. This back and forth weather in PA hasn't allowed us to have any good ice yet

I thought about dropping the cam next to my tipup hole but those big suckers swim around too much. There’s a slim chance they’d stay in view of the camera with a fish eyeing them.
Quality video as always!! I don't think I'll be ice fishing any time soon, it's still too warm, ice is only about half an inch thick where I live and I don't think it will get any thicker in my life time so it's nice to see something fairly new to me. Man I just love seeing them goofy bass under water and mean old pike!

We had about a foot of ice here, even saw a couple vehicles drive out! I think ND/MN is the coldest area in the US.
