Looks like a great walk in the Pennine area. Thanks for sharing this . Wish I was there !. There is nothing better than a Day out in the Countryside . Free , calming and refreshing for the spirit . You are lucky in that you live closish to all the super rural areas. So keep on sending these videos in the Summer .

I am in a perfect middle point to take advantage of some really amazing parts of the country. I am surrounded by protected moorlands, reservoirs and coastal areas. It really is an absolute blessing! I'm glad you enjoyed my walk. :)

You were brave to walk alone, I wish I had your confidence. I only feel comfortable where there are other people around. Luckily I live in a lovely small University City with a beautiful river which offers a place to walk. I miss living back in the South where there were several National Trust Estates that also offered a lovely place to walk alone.

Great walk and loved the wildlife and scenery. I did feel almost worried for you at the beginning though. I think seeing the memorial when you first set off didn't help. Well done for persevering though. Hope the sunburn wasn't too bad.

Why is walking called hiking suddenly in the UK?🤔 I still walk. I definitely can't climb. 😆 I must be the only person who doesn't think I'm gonna get randomly attacked when I walk on my own. Walkers and joggers aren't often attackers or muggers. Criminals usually stand out in the countryside as they don't look like they usually walk much. Or what they wear or how they carry themselves. Walkers otter say hello to each other I find. Cyclists less so. Most reservoir walks are quite flat but I guess there are exceptions..

I've always known it as hiking. I think hiking differs from walking when it's off road - like mountain biking as opposed to cycling. In terms of safety, I can't tell if you are a man or a woman. If a man, then that's why. If you're a woman then you've probably been quite lucky never to have felt threatened. There is a park near me where several female joggers have been attacked and r***d and I would never go there on my own. Equally outside is freely accessible and you never know where the weirdos are hanging out! There are dodgy people everywhere, it's just a luck of the draw if you happen to cross paths with them or not.

I think it would, unfortunately, already be too late if you were out hiking or hill walking...(whatever you choose to call it) alone, and somebody up to no good approached you. I most definitely have that fear and although it's sad, I've seen and heard of weirdos lurking about in places they know are remote. Better to be aware than not.

An absolutely beautiful place and a pleasure to walk along.
But why the hell do some people go and talk so loudly!?? Absolute ignoramouses with no respect for other people.

I think people have different ideas as to what it means to be in the countryside. For me, it's the peace, but some people don't like the silence and have to fill it, no matter where they are. My mother is one of them. If there's no noise, she will fill it!
