- Imagine driving a Ferrari sports car that can fly and land on water. It's not fantasy, but a reality. The Icon A5 amphibious plane has a cutting edge design with fold-out wings that extend out at the push of a button. I shot and edited this Icon A-5 piece when I worked for AeroChannel. From all the Sport Planes I've seen thus far, the ICON A-5 looks like it has best bang for the bucks.
This plane has distance comuter and recreational value. I am lit up with enthusiasm.
This is a very nice little plane and saying it's nice is putting it mildly fantastic also comes to mind.!!
There's a sweet rc version of this thing, too
this is amazing. I'm the great nephew of Kurt Tank (me109 and Faulkwulf) I love flight and have made designs as well. But this gives a freedom of water or land.
This the coolest, best designed aircraft I have ever seen!!!!
Best I've seen..I want one..for that price...it's a steal...
Very good looking plane should be real fun !!!
It looks really cool. Since it's amphibious, it can be used for traffic surveillance both boat and car.
Impressive, I hope that you have good fortune (and make a fortune) with this craft!
OMG, I love this plane, it looks amazing. Wish I could buy one tomorrow
Looking forward to a fun flight!
great invations, the human top idea , san this is the best air craft to me incredilble project, Congratulacions
He flies like the last thing on his mind is another airplane coming around the corners from behind the trees
Es una belleza este avión...¡¡¡ una belleza..¡¡¡
Buy about any civil prop aircraft used for that or less... Things 5 times bigger that have style, fun, and practicality for transportation. The seaplane aspect is all that makes this attractive since you can just hop lakes and fuel at marinas, avoiding some of the hassles in aviation.
Wow! I need one !
No crash ever? So I love the optional parachute!
OK this is the plane I want.
You need a Sport Pilot license. It's easier to get than a regular license. It's between the ultralight (no license but very little plane) and the standard certified aircraft (big plane, tighter license requirements). Thus, limitations on speed, seats, weight, ceiling.
Getting a light sport aircraft license may be more accessible than ever before, but the planes are still too expensive. In this economy, not many people have $189K lying around.
i will never afford anything like this. but i see fancy 2 seat sport cars that cost more than that
Wing tip looks very close to the water..The push prop always best for a seaplane prop engine where ect..
it has retractable landing gear. your fears of impending doom are unfounded.
I want one!
very nice
Extremely nice looking inside and out. I give it 10 stars. Way to much $$$ though.
sorry to say this aircraft looks fantastic
but there are a few issues of using it here in the UK as there are not many sea planes here for a start but also the fact of the new EASA regement coming in is that you are required to do 100 hours of flying in a sea plane for a issure of licences or rating of some sort
unless Icon design a non sea plane version of the A5 i can not see this air craft going global unlike the Cessan's and Piper's
The Man With The Golden Gun anyone?
this would be my first choice
only question is i'm i able to remove the passanger seat and move the pilot seat in the middle?
Uma bela cópia do ultraleve brasileiro SEAMAX
Yeah, its' a pretty bird, I'll say that. But considering that one can buy an ultralight and stick floats on it, for about $30-40k, and not need a license, not really going to 'blow the market open' any time soon. The economy has just seen to it that most folks have even less incentive to go blow money on an airplane. (coming from someone who's looking at getting hang glider training, but that, all told, is like 10k, with a brand new glider, less if you wanna buy used.
All said, I love the plane
I want one....
I want one to buy with 4 seats !!!
Light sport category limits passengers to two, a four passenger model would require a private pilot license. Icon may make a four passenger model in the future, my guess of course.
this is the Roy Halladay plane
do you need a pilots lic. to fly this one or is it like the ultra lights?
Dear Santa.
need to know what other amphibious options are out there, also need to know type of fuel and max. miles avail. would be nice if there was more room for gear, 4-seater would be preferred... but still need storage space. Rather one flyer than 4 ultralights zipping about, though there's cons and pros to each.
I wonder if Roy Halladay went cheap and didn’t opt for the parachute?
I like
*boss plane*
It looks brilliant and I wish it well.
But what's the logic of putting a sportscar instrument panel and styling in an aeroplane?
(I'd have thought it made it more likely the pilot would make the wrong response under pressure).
no, as the instrumentation is all aviation. ...they call it automobile style because it's less crowded. but it seems to work.
I do think the passenger side needs somthing over there, plus it needs cup holders.
I'd rather like a full glass cockpit, it's not a car.
BTW, what an amazing plane, and more: Floating !
i want one it would looks good whit my paraglider xD
I really like the icon but at 189k.i most likely won't be able to get in one. lol
So are you trolling all the Icon A5 videos spewing about how it's expensive (to you) and that everyone should buy some used up, beat up Piper? What was the cost of that Piper or Cessna new? Yeah that's what I thought.... This plane offers lots of ground breaking design that can and will open flight up to a new group of people.
"look at it" "touch it" "get inside.." and the blond is like yeah yeah.. LMAO srsly sweet plane !
Awesome but to rich for me,ill just have to be happy watching some one else fly
Anyone have an idea what this aircraft costs ?
If they can bring price down comparable to a Remos, then it be much more popular. I like it much more however price is to high!
Sorry but you haven't made any point. It's easy to compare some 30 year old used plane to something new, people do it all the time and the argument holds no water. The guy that bought that Piper or Cessna new paid a small fortune for it. Nothing has changed. I suppose 30 year old cars are better because you can pick them up cheaper than new cars? Yeah there has been no technical advancements in 30 years.... :)
storage?
only one engine ?
I got t5o have one
Việt nam có khả năng chể tạo máy bay không người lái thế hệ như vậy
@mellowmoods420 like you would have licence already....
cool - too slow but fun lol
139 000 USD with a deposit of 5000$
Cost is only 120,000 US dollars NEW
I keep throwing my money at the screen. BUT NOTHING'S HAPPENING! >:(
it's awesome, but too expensive :(
just get the microjet for 80,000 dollers less then this thing at about 180,000 you get it in parts and you build it its got state of the art stuff if it was me id just fly illegally theres a runway that is abandoned near me so it be perfect if i had the 180,000 to spend fyi it can go 5 times as fast and turn way faster and has a better view with a better max alt and is super small only weighing 400lbs so it can easily be moved by a trailer or hell even in the back of a pickup
If i spend that much money on a vehicle, it's at least godda go 180mph
An enligtening idea coming to live with ICON we would like to help also in getting this prototype launched in Europe. Maybe we can help in getting its engine green as well? keep up the spirit we have become a believer with your idea as well

The german Dornier do s ray 007 is better
:(
"SPORT CAAAR DESIGN' ... really wierd "taste" ! looks like a toy for nouveau riches but not for amphybian planes lovers
Sleek looking. Over (way over) priced. Under (way under) powered. Nothing unique in the design except the folding wings which could prove to be complicated, adding to an already overpriced aircraft, and not providing a real sense of strength which one would desire in an aircraft that bounces around in the (bumpy) water. Others have tried to promote their aircraft by claiming it is "easy to fly". A "jet ski with wings" is inviting and suggesting a careless image, in my opinion.
Casual, not careless.
Piece of junk. Nothing but an over priced killing machine.
