Definitely may favourite available sea plane. The Airmax Seamax is an awesome flyer. It will land safely on water with the wheels down, so safer than most. Good to know the pricing, and that its wings can now be removed for transport.
Oh yeah the highly over priced Icon's sweeter and more economical younger brother. Would like to have one someday, but still want to build a Sling TSI for a trip flyer then this for weekend fishing trips 😁
@MojoGrip Do you know if AOPA would categorize the Sling 2 as an Experimental Aircraft or as a Light Sport? Reason I'M asking is because the down payment would be much less as an Experimental than as a LSA.
Interesting seeing IFR avionics in light sports. From what I understand, LSAs are not allowed to be flown in IMC, and you probably wouldn’t want to if they were due to their light weight. I guess you could use it for IFR training though?
If I understand correctly, it's not that a light sport aircraft can't be flown in IMC, it's that a light sport pilot is not allowed to fly in IMC. So, when it comes to the fully equipped SeaMax, a light sport pilot can fly it, as long as they adhere to the restrictions of their license. An instrument rated private pilot can also fly it, and can fly it in IMC.
I fly the aircraft shown in this video. Because the Seamax ships from the factory as an SLSA it is not legally permitted to fly into imc, despite having all necessary equipment. However, someone theoretically could register one as an ELSA, which would make imc allowable.
Great Video Thanks, Didn't Ventura come out with an S-LSA (metal folding wing option) that has a little better mileage for quite a bit less ? Or is this that much quieter in-flight ? It is pretty for 170-200+ .... it must have an additional luggage area for fishing poles... Lol
With the cabin all closed up with no windows, do you just have to suffer with the heat in hotter locations or does this come with some kind of air conditioning or something?
I’ll buy it with the grs or brs parachute right now. I live in ormond beach and have a a ppl, fresh medical. I’ve called but maybe they were to busy to answer during COVID.
And the main reason that the icon went from 190 grand to 460is due to the lawsuits filed by the idiots (their own test engineer included) decided to show that even the best designed airplane can still be crashed.
It's not bad. The ultimate (before UFOs) would be a twin jet with high speed aero body yet able to land and take off from water as well. I think it's possible. Pretty cool to jet to alaska or north canada and set it down in a mountain lake where it's the only place to land. Btw did you hear about the Rotax 916? supposedly a variant of 915 with 160 horse. You can only guess at how unreasonable the price will be but still interesting.
@@paigehunt3387 why are you sighing at me, girl? :) your last name is hunt. It's just a word, even if it lands on something that isn't land. The semantics is not that pedantic. Need a hug? :)
Icon, they con. Forgot about that one til now. Also not a fan of the 'Fisher-Price' instruments in that con plane. So far, out of all I've looked at and flown I like the Super Petrel best. Maybe a real money maker the likes of the Twin Otter is at hand.
It has IFR avionics. 🤦♂️ I view this more as a fun toy that’s a significant step up over a jet-ski, not something that I would use for a long trip. I’m imagining sitting in that thing and hearing ATC give me my IFR clearance. “Expect FL250 10 minutes after departure…” 🤣
The owner said from the factory the plane is listed as SLSA. Even with IFR available the plane cannot be flown into imc conditions. Changing the designation to Experimental would allow flying into imc, and assuming pilot has ppl plus instruments.
Actually, you didn’t have to comment. You chose to. So let me ask, do you routinely question the diction of non-native English speakers? If so, that’s pretty moronic.

I love seeing your passion for aviation.
I have one for sale with some cool additional features that this one doesn’t have. Very fun plane and very usable - it’s not a toy at all.
Do they have a model with more useful load?
@@jacobmoore6874 Not that I’m aware of but that’s the nature of the LSA category.

Yes, but can it turn into a submarine like in the new Bond movie?
Very Nice!
Does it do a wheelie when you step out? It looked like the front wheel was floating.
Surprised to see an Icon equiv this cheap...
Awesome review ! Thanks
Love your vids Mike. Very concise and super informative. Thanks
Thank you Ssooo much for this review. Couldn't make it this year cause, I had Covid.
On the back of a 56" sailboat ⛵️ 😎 👌 perfect
I'd take one over an overly priced Icon anyday of the week! Just don't like the center stick only feature.

ELSA and properly equipped with a pilot holding an instrument rating is no problem. ruclips.net/video/TTyXaTHuFPc/видео.html

I still prefer old school instruments with the added electronic screens. Just how I learned things growing up.

Yea
Nice
Take that bird up!
Can this plane have a parachute line the A5?
I am 6.6ft tall and would like to have a Sea Plane. But can I fit into this air plane?
The A5 has a parachute and a spin-sesistant airframe.
Not sure about the SeaMax though.

Nice plane
What about toroidal propellers?
In fact this is also a brazilian design, desiged by engineer Miguel Rosario at Airmax in Brazil.
That’s the roadster of sea planes
Which category is this plane: experimental or seaplane endorsement?

Hii Mike please cover Colyaer Freedom S100. its way cheaper than Seamax.

Stop calling it a plane. It’s an aeroplane, or aircraft. A plane is a level surface.
Give me a Repuplic Seabea over this for 75k maybe a little more.
Maintaining that 80 year old Seabee will not be cheap.
Yeah the icon is way too pricey
