GRBs Edmonton Alberta . Tested there many many times . Liked the fact you could use your own welding machine . I done the gun barrel to for every renewal
i was a rig pipe welder in alberta for 11 years worked up in fort mcmurray oilsands cnrl longlake firebag sermount and kearl lake but my welding came to an end in 2016 when that big fire in fort mac burned my rig to the ground. i had it parked in saperie creek 15 kms south of fort mac. i did lots of these tests and you do have to pay attention 4 sure.never get scaird when doing a test just think of it as just another weld in the field no biggy just do what you already know how to do. thanks 4 the video.
Hey awesome video man!! I'm 20 years old and I will be taking my AWS 2inch 6G 6010 root 7018 (1/8) fill and cap test in 5 days! I love your videos man my dream/goal is to make it on the pipeline! If you know any good contractors please let me know. Keep up the good work!
Did you put a land on that joint or was that knife edge? also, did I see you tack that up with 7018 or am I imaging things? My UA 21 cert. was 2inch schd 120 (xxh), 6G. with a 1/8inch land and 3/32 gap. WPS was 6010 uphill root, and 7018 hot, fill and cap stringers.
Nice Job! As a Boilermaker we take a similar test. Tig root pass 7018 fill and cap with no electric or air tools only allowed files. I wanted to say keep up the good quality work and stay safe and put a bunch of money in your pocket. Enjoy your videos.
jbolin105 Are you with the 146? How are the Boilermakers to apprentice under? Thinking I want to join either the 146 or 555, but not sure if I should apprentice under them or apprentice first then join
Nathan Rudderhman I'm a retired union boilermaker,35 years of service and it was a great trade to be in but now the pension is in a lot of trouble because of not enough man hours being paid in to it which is a result of the war on coal.they have closed so many coal fired power plants and are not building any new ones.they are building a lot of gas fired plants but they do not wear out and need as much maintenance as coal fire.they also just changed the retirement age from 55 to 62.you do not want to be crawling into holes at that age
Shylock hymie what local are you in up until this year Boilermakers could retire at age 58 with full benefits working into your 60s makes no sense.and when the old timer bosses did crawl into the hole they never climbed around and spent the whole day in there they just used a laser pointer
nice job. I've been pipe welding my whole life and renewal test always the things that has to be done. nice videos you have. As an experience welder and as you know in this business we have to do good quality welds and gotta be fast that's the key for this industries. people laugh and tell me when they see my welding rig and they look at engine drive welder it's an vantage 300 from llincoln electric they say boy why don't you buy a miller engine drive. I have my reason why I kept mine for so many years.
that's weird I did my Ohio state pressure pipe certification like 2 years ago , the same kind of pipe we had to tack with tig and root pass tig wire and fill all the way out 7018 . good luck buddy
My first time testing bcp100. What to look out for ? You testing 2" and 6" do they fail you when having a suck back weld or can you repair it right away on your tie in's
I know this is an older video, just curious as to why you tacked it with 7018? Great videos though I really enjoy watching your pipeline videos. Im a welder for a HVAC contractor in west central FL. Would love to get on a pipeline someday. Keep up the good work man
I'm B apprentice in BC (Victoria), great vids, was wonder what rod you were using for your fit up on this pipe test it looked like 3/32? or 1/8? Also how hot do you run your 6010 1/8 root? Love the handy remote on the wall. Too bad you couldn't you use your helper for fine adjustments during your test....great watching a true craftsman at work. Oh and by the way if your ever looking for new helper I'm available. What shade are the glasses you wear under your hood?
I hit just about all my welds with a file. Not just for undercut, mainly just because it makes it look cleaner. We weld on rollouts in shops though and not in the field.
I'd have thought you big-pipe guys would have at least tested on a 12"(30cm) sized piece ;-) And uphill, all(well, most) of your videos show DOWNhill, not uphill? Interesting...
Justin Ya, I know. 2"(looks like sch 160?) is tough stuff... 6" and bigger is easier, IMO, 2" you're ALWAYS moving/flexing/repositioning yourself to keep the rod angled correctly. But it looks like xAZAZELx13 and the weldor got it done nice and purty!
chopperdan88 it's actually harder on 2in then 12in because of all the position changes so fast. 6 o'clock to noon in one pass opposed to 2/4 on 12in pipe

S120 and XXH are not the same thing at all haha

Man up pussy, my foreman was in his 60's crawling into holes all day

Big thanks to everyone who helped get this video over 10,000 views! I really appreciate it!
xAZAZELx13 Hey man, hope life is still going good. Happy New Year.
Interesting using the vise grip as an arm rest. I'm going to try that.
nice job. I've been pipe welding my whole life and renewal test always the things that has to be done. nice videos you have. That's right. I have about 15,000 hours on her she's still going strong day in day out that old vantage 300
Why are they testing you anyway you are the Man.
I Love Welding. most people see it as a job in my area. I see it as Art
You are so right it is an art .
that's weird I did my Ohio state pressure pipe certification like 2 years ago , the same kind of pipe we had to tack with tig and root pass tig wire and fill all the way out 7018 . good luck buddy
Grinder on a test.. that's new to me. I got a file and that was all even for root pass.asme ix 6in schedule 80 uphill
azazel sei un mito, seguo sempre i tuoi video!
please b pressure inital exam advice ??
My first time testing bcp100. What to look out for ? You testing 2" and 6" do they fail you when having a suck back weld or can you repair it right away on your tie in's
Badass, man! What size electrodes are you using while doing this test for fill and cap?
Hell yeah. Thx for another badass video
I see porosity in the beed and stray arc out side the weld zone 🤪
All in all great video though 🤟
What kinda 7018 rods did you use excalibur?
Did he run 6010 or 7010 on his root ? those tacks were monstrous !
did he etc it cool any between passes?
did you use a landing?
As always man, nice weld. But, I have to ask...what's up with the switching between dark safety glasses and the clear?
I know this is an older video, just curious as to why you tacked it with 7018? Great videos though I really enjoy watching your pipeline videos. Im a welder for a HVAC contractor in west central FL. Would love to get on a pipeline someday. Keep up the good work man
Probably so it wasn't a penetrating tack, so he can either cut it out easier when he comes to it or can blow right through it.
do you still pass if theres undercut??? i cant imagine so also yeah what settings are you guys running for your root and or cold pass??
This is awesome.
This is good stuff for the newer guys.

Awesome video. Is the bottom of your hood cut out slots? If so why?
Ventilation. To aid his lens from not fogging up.
What is the trick for adding filler metal from inside while making root pass. You made it look smple...
Robert Foley shove that 6010 to back of weld joint
Fuck yeah man! thank you for this video! Watching this answered some questions i'v wanted to know. I appreciate it.
thanks for the videos. can't give more than one thumbs up or I would.
Fuck yeah man nice vid
6010 root right? can this be done slammed shut with no root opening?
U westerner or an easterner?.
нет слов,четко
strike it badass welder lmao
hiding undercut with file tisk tisk lol
sarcasm.....
I hit just about all my welds with a file. Not just for undercut, mainly just because it makes it look cleaner. We weld on rollouts in shops though and not in the field.
hello i'm a learner welder and how to make your root pass back and forth or side to side motion please
bye
I'd have thought you big-pipe guys would have at least tested on a 12"(30cm) sized piece ;-)
And uphill, all(well, most) of your videos show DOWNhill, not uphill? Interesting...
That small thick wall pipe is actually tougher than a larger diameter pipe, in my opinion

XXH is 5/8" wall. Its called super coupon. sched 160 is only roughly 3/8" wall.
thanks
