Guys are pros !!!! nice work boys never seen a video done like that with the step by step process and the test procedure played out as if they were really taking the test.
Im from the philippines, currently working in some refineries and plants here in saudi arabia. As a aramco certified alloy and sus welder here in the middle east i learned more on this videos and how the test procedure occurred in canada which im looking forward to get in after ill pass my ielts exam here in saudi arabia. Highest respect to all of you Sirs. High salute as well.
Awesome video! I've spent 2 years of my apprenticeship in structural shop now I'm in pipe shop and love it ! I practice this test on my lunch break every day since I've started at my shop ! 😎
I did this test in Calgary back in 2003 (passed), and again in Saskatchewan years later (failed first time, got it second). It's not a test to be taken lightly but put it in the hours of practice and you'll nail it.
This is a weld test I'm currently trying to pass. We call it a Class A weld test, it used to be called the BCP 100. In Canada, we HAVE to weave our cap, we are not allowed to use stringers.
Just failed my first b pressure test. Made it all the to the bend and had a 2g tie in open up a bit. Failed. Rest was good though but even one defect and its done. Re-test on friday! I better nail it cause I dont want to wait another 3 months...
Thank you for the video, it was very informative and helpful. I wished y'all would have shown a nice, slow close-up of the finished products at the varying stages. I have seen Klay's work before and it is truly artful but would enjoy seeing it and comparing it to this other top-hand's work. Thanks again
Yep depends on the inspector. Ive weaved every cap I've ever done with 3g with no issues, but I hear its becoming a bigger problem lately. Stupid, in my opinion. Millions of welds done with weaves have ended up just fine. But, learn and adapt I suppose
Just in case anyone in the US is watching and blowing this off, we call it a flip flop test. And I just took one to get on with ExxonMobil. So listen and watch, even though I passed I wished I would’ve been able to see this instead of walking into a blind test.
Very good video. Thnx. On a three bead cap, is it allowed to do the two outer beads first and use the third bead to fill the valley between them ? I've seen it done that way and to me it looks better, when done that way.
gord johnson yes that is very common high grade materials that are more susceptible to the hardening affects of the welding process so the third run will be done in the middle to create a tempering effect on previous passes and not having the last pass on base metal.
With the exception of the 2G portion the rod angle used for the 7018 fill/cap pass is not ideal. I see this on so many welding videos.. You want to keep that rod centre to the pipe with a 10degree rod inclination MAX.
It's all based on Sec 9. The big difference is that this is a much more practical test because it uses common welding positions. I think that this is actually a much better evaluation than a 6G.
Fuck you guy's are good. Clay, please make a video detailing everything. Arc length, settings, rod angle, how and why these things change throughout the test. A super detailed video about the B could help a lot of guys out
Patrick Ramsey gloves.caimanstore.com/1600-tig-kidskin-4-inch-cuff-gloves/ Same thing I’m assuming, I’ve seen generic brands on amazon with the same style. Fairly cheap and decent tig gloves.
Interesting that you are required to complete the 5G fully before proceeding to the 2G fill/cap, as that is specifically prohibited in ASME B31.3. Don't do it at work :)
Dat Clutch that is correct. This test basically says you can test further. Basically every company requires either an in-house test or a bunch of qualifications before you start with them, and those are pretty much all 6g, and most commonly a 2 1/2” xxh coupon to get max thickness.
@@derekcollins1972 so they only do in position welds that focus on 2g and 5g? Seems like a waste since they were only doing a 1/4 of the pipe instead of just requiring a 6g with 6010/7018
Having the welders narrate over the video after their welds could be a good move. Wouldn't have to listen to them through their lids, and they'd be able to explain the process in more detail

Clays face when safety code officer Travis told him to remove the coupon arm and all to go grind 😂😂😂😂
i was gonna ask you guys for a video exactly on this. thank you so much. i'm from edmonton, alberta btw.
Great video. Good to see welders from 3 countries on the same video.

Hard to afford booth rentals to practice when laid off haha, I'm in Sask.

We have to weave... Humm. Hate weaving. Just did my G1-G4
In Alberta you can either weave or run stringers for your cap but you’re not a lot both. One or the other. And here it’s called grade B weld test
B pressure in Alberta you can run stringers
@@SCREAMxINxPARADISE On site, sure. But for the paramters of the Class A test, they want a weave.

Always appreciate Travis’s video
Good to see an Aussie burning rods from down under , great skills from both of them , good video guys 🤙🇦🇺
Dern Aussies have an advantage because their bottoms are on top.
This one is very useful for the third year apprentice welder. not only root pass but also hot pass allow to weld with tig.
Got my b pressure today! Thanks for the insight!!
Would love cwb 1-4g plate tests, not really any videos on RUclips of those tests, just stringers no weaving!
WeldTube that will be good for the guys in Canada
depending on the inspector weaving is okay on the fill and cap for CWB 3G

wicked video thanks for the upload, needed this!
The enbridge distribution test in ontario is the mother of stick tests.
Thank you for making this video it’s going help me with this test!!

Also run the risk of inclusions and lack of fusion by running the valley. We just stack em
When i did my b test 30 years ago it was a 6inch and a 2 inch in 6g position
Couple things. Cap has to be a weave. And the 2g 7018 portion has to be 1/8 rod.
Right on. Edmonton, alberta here. #weldtube
Love your vid Mann it is amazing
Good information..... Good job sir.. So thnx
17:48 Klay is like fu** that 😂
HTX_DODGER 🤣🤣🤣🤣 that is the best comment ever
In the real world you will almost never do a 6g weld , 5g is much harder to do . The 2g and 5 g welds are what you will fine. 99.99% of the time .
True
Where did you get that welding welding hood chesham?
I wonder what test will qualify a welder for: Initial "(A pressure) Canada welding test ? ?
What brand of gloves does James have on?
ive been a structural welder for a long time and this video terrifies me
Its basic pipe welding. Both of those guys did an awesome job
You needs CWB ticket then

You want to keep that rod centre to the pipe with a 10degree rod inclination MAX.
You aren't wrong, but if it bends, it bends
Rod angle don’t really matter you just have to what ever the puddle needs
Can you do a 6G test accordance with ASME sec9 with bend test?
Thanks for the video

Where the fuck is Bob Moffat?
One day I'm going to meet fildres. I been welding for a bit now just cz of that dude I got into exotic metals. #pipewelds

Wassup I’m new to this channel !
what is that mean B? in the B pressure welder?
"Boiler".
What brand of flip front adaptor are you using on your pipeliner?
Josiah Chavez it’s actually a prota shell from the UK
James how you doing over there? Haha
Hey so is there anyway of contacting y’all? I have some weld questions along with some picture I been wanting to pick your guys brain about it
I have my Alberta B ticket cap pass has to be a weave no stringer caps
Sorry 2g you run stringer 5g has to be a weave
I'm just a rig welder from Alberta eh
Clean work and dirty hands!
Stinger V 💪🏽
🔥
you cant split the cap. it must be a full weave cap
Aussie Aussie Aussie Oi Oi Oi
2 welders testing off of 1 stand,,, better not make the column jiggle and screw up the other guys test .
Idk why this guy seems like he would fail everyone if he was the inspector lol
how to become a b pressure in canada
I wish there was an Arabic translation
Interesting that you are required to complete the 5G fully before proceeding to the 2G fill/cap, as that is specifically prohibited in ASME B31.3. Don't do it at work :)
"apms"
B-pressure is 6g 2" sch160 right? I don't think they do 6" sch80 anymore
This is what they call the" Initial B pressure test."In Canada at least.
@@muerteasocialistas366 Ohhh ok thanks, so then once you do this then you move onto the 6g 2" sch160 pipe?

wonder what a poor welder has to test on to qualify for the classification of ( A
Klay your Australian speak Australian millimetres speak millimetres. Lol and z as in zoo not zee it's z zoo
Why not do a 6g and cover 1g-6g test like we do down here in the states?
I think it's because the majority of these welds are only done in this position.
For this type of job anyway.
@@derekcollins1972 so they only do in position welds that focus on 2g and 5g? Seems like a waste since they were only doing a 1/4 of the pipe instead of just requiring a 6g with 6010/7018

@@weldtube i understand, i was just wondering why they wouldnt use a 6g test to cover all positions. It was a interesting video for sure.
What schedule pipe is that? Is 105amps to much for a 3/32 for 6in sch40
Peter Polito yes it seemed too be a little too hot, as you’ll notice I did turn it down 5 to amps.
This test is schedule 80
might be the cringiest safety codes officer to ever inspect pipe lol
Why is that?
