My cockatiels had an open door policy in the morning my female would fly down and land on my head when I was sleeping it made me wake up to play I put her under my T-shirt and she would climb across my belly and out by my neck and peek a boo.🥰🐦

one thing NEVER covered: do not bring helium balloons in the same room as the cockatiel, or any pet bird, because it resembles a hawk which preys on them. they experience death-level terror, a look you should be heartbroken to witness. not just balloons, but never, ever tease birds with things that frighten them, because it can shorten their lifespan. the ones who get stressed out most often will be the ones to leave you first, and fast.

I had my cockatiel bird for four years so I know
If ur cockatiel bird left the cage inside a room don't force them to go back to the cage bc they can't stay in the cage like forever they need to be out of the often inside a room or they'll get used to staying in the cage and won't come out and to gain trust you have spent time with cockatiel for 30 minutes every day and they Will gain trust slowly

Don't chase again, only feed the bird inside the cage, you can use a trap with food to catch it without chasing it down

If I need to get my bird to come to me or go to a certain place I lure her with treats. She loves millet. That’s the best way to do it in my experience

Fun fact wing clipping may also negatively affect the owner of the bird in some ways too

My bird doesn’t like other people in my room 😭 maybe she associates other people coming in with me leaving? I’m not sure. She doesn’t act scared, she just squawks occasionally and she seems to not like when people hug me

Honestly this video was helpful my older brother bought a cockatiel for my nephew but the cockatiel wasn’t hand feed and he is I think 2 years or 3 years old (I call him my little toddler 😂) they made all kinds of mistakes from grabbing him like on its back and he is very aggressive when you come near his cage. They also bought another bird where my nephew only plays with him not the cockatiel because he bites but he doesn’t bite my niece she makes him step up so he chirps at her and just loves her but she doesn’t really pay attention to him either I usually would sit near the cage and he puts his head down to make him scratch him but doesn’t come out of the cage or wants to step up on me? I tried it gently but no luck

My female cockatiel is exhibiting male behaviors, that are, whistling a lot, tapping stuff with her beak, making heart wings and staring at a mirror for too long, is she really a female??
