I total dig you're bringing it back to the basics because this is really where FPV started for many and are true to our hearts I still fly my tiny whoop all the time much respect to a bro
Depending on your ambient temp and the camera used the heat might (will) loosen the bluetak, also the bluetak can insulate board components from airflow and over heat them. NOT a good idea. I use a tiny plastic baseplate superglued to the PCB edges of the AIO to retain air gaps and then double sided foam tape (industrial strength). Can be lighter, too 🙂
For a drone this size you really don't have to worry about heat. The drone hasn't gotten hot at all, the VTX is on 25mw and generates almost no heat either. Removing the canopy will help with air flow if anything.
I did it so many times, I threw on some tri-blades and an eachine txo sometime lol. It was such a great beginner fpv drone for me, and I have crashed mine hundreds of times lol , I highly recommend , now I fly regular 5-7” Fpv drones and tinywhoops
At least 3 min( from my experience) sometimes flight lasts almost 4 or even five minutes, I made the mistake of having a camera that drew way to much power, I soldered the came straight to the drone ! But it’s a good investment, like a gateway drone.
I order a couple after watching Nick's video. They arrived today and are super fun already. Thanks for a great summary, your instructions were a lot simpler than trying to figure out what the manual really means. Now just have to wait for the NTSC version of the little camera comes back into stock. Too bad the little monitor now seems to be $70 (CDN), maybe a deal will come on.
its a shame they dont make those anymore, there used to be tons of little toy drones that you can hack and they came with better motors. these days I guess that e017 is all you get

Pardon my newb question but I'd actually like to try my hand at making my first fpv. When I checked your link for the camera, I see it has two wire harnesses, not one (w/2wires) like you had. I'm guessing the 4 wire harness is for audio? Shall I simply un-soldier those 4 wires?

The E017 is definitely a solid affordable practice drone. add the FPV camera and you've got a pretty quick little FPV drone. I use a Sony a7iii to film my videos. I was using my iPhone up until a few months ago lol. Glad the video helped! 🤙

You can take the pcb of a phone connect the camera of the phone to pc with ip and and a small battery to keep the camera working. The additional weight is the pcb and a tine battery
Adding a 5gram camera won't make your E017 "go all the way up" - UNLESS you have been dumb enough to block the little hole in the barometer unit on the flight board! 😉 Also it would be better to try to center the added weight (or slide the battery back) to equalize the extra load on the motors if you want them to last.

those 4 wires are for camera control I believe. The only wires you really need are the power and ground 👍
