    So basically what I am getting from this video is that the highlight of the Tigers 2013 season was a couple of diving plays from Matt Tuiasosopo and Ramon Santiago. Ever heard of a guy name Miguel Cabrera? Prince Fielder? Max Scherzer? Justin Verlander?

  • @mariomasv

    Will Venable made the most impressive catch that I have ever seen vs. San Fransisco in 2013, should have been here, but meh, a lot of highlights, it´s easy to miss some.

  • @TheMysteriousSwede

    Is the batter "out" if someone catches the ball without it touching the ground?
    If there are more players on the field, previous batters, is the game still in play and are they able to get bases still if the ball is caught directly?

    • @joztics
      @joztics 10 лет назад +4

      If the current batter is out by a fly ball (direct catch of the ball, before it touches the ground) it is an out. The players already on field can make a run to the next base only if he starts the running from his occupying base. Hardly any player would make that run, since is too dangerous and will definitely end with another out. (some circumstance, where the runner is on 3rd base, and the ball fly far to the outfield, the player on 3rd base will make that run. This is a sac fly.)
      BTW the ball have to be a complete catch to be out, that means it have to be in the glove for enough time or transited. if the ball roll out of the glove right after the catch, and touches the ground, will be consider an in-play ball.

    • @TheMysteriousSwede
      @TheMysteriousSwede 10 лет назад

      Joz Sun Thanks a lot for explaining it! But how would you know if it is a fly ball as a runner? Wouldn't you just run if you see the batter hit a really good ball that flies long?

    • @joztics
      @joztics 10 лет назад +2

      The base running coach on 3rd base and 1st base will instruct to run or not

    • @joztics
      @joztics 10 лет назад +2

      And if its a sacrifice fly, it will be instructed before the batter bats. (by hand signs)

    I am new to baseball, could someone explain why sometimes you have to tag the runner and sometimes just touch the base when you have ball in hand? Is it to do with having a runner on the bases behind you?

    • @mattguz55
      @mattguz55 10 лет назад

      When you touch the base it's called a force out because the runner has to go to that base. Usually this is because somebody is behind him so he can't turn around and go back so you just touch the base he's going to. When you tag a runner that is not a force out. Meaning nobody is occupying the base behind him so he could turn around and go back if he wanted to. This makes you have to apply a tag or he's safe. Hope I made it clear enough.

    • @scottparry4467
      @scottparry4467 10 лет назад
