    I have the Yamaha Pacifica 012V, bought it as a beginner and 4 years later I still play it as my main guitar. Its such a versatile guitar that brings out great tone and resonance. Its never let me down gigging and sounds awesome whatever genre is played on it. Pacificas are amazingly crafted and designed, 100% no doubt about it

      A small guitar shop had an old new stock PRS Soap Bar 2 (P90s) on sale, which I bought. I also bought a used Pacifica 012V for $100 in perfect condition I really liked for the play-ability, plus it feels alive in hand when played. It's my "beater" guitar so the dings are big deal. I also have a Revstar II Standard RSS02T that I love. Yamaha only has 7% market share in the guitar market. Truly underrated.

    After having tried a number of different brands (Ibanez, Fender, Epiphone, Yamaha, and a couple of no-names), as well as different styles of build (Tele, Les Paul, ES semi-hollow), I have settled on Yamaha Pacifica as my go-to electric. They offer great value for you money, and even the less expensive models are well built and well set up out of the box. I agree with you wholeheartedly, Mike, that they have a real nice feel to them, and they are easy to play.

    I'm a relatively new player, and I got a Yamaha Pacifica 612VFM about 6 months ago after my teacher recommended it, and I love it. It's kind of like an upgraded Fender Player II, which is what I wanted originally, but for a lower price. It not only functions and sounds great, but I personally love the unique shape and pickguard, and its a flame maple fired red body. All of that to say that I love my Pacifica and I think more people need to consider them. :) I love your videos btw :)

    From Leo: I had a lower end Yamaha guitar come in on trade. It was really badly set up. The neck felt pretty good so I set it up properly, needing nothing but common adjustments. It is really a great playing guitar. Every time I put it in someones hand, they cannot believe what a great playing guitar it is. Really impressive, even more so when you think about ho cheap it was.

    The beauty of the Strat design is there's no need for compromise. Put whatever neck you want on whatever body with whatever bridge/pickups/etc. Japanese stuff is very nice but doesn't have to be expensive; Allparts sells MIJ necks that come from the same factory as the modern Fender Japan stuff and they're less than $250 new.

    I bought a used PAC 012 DLX years ago, and never regretted it. It will stay with me until I die, the most trouble free guitar I own. The only thing I do to is change the strings and condition the fretboard, and that's it. That's the way a good guitar should be. I have total love for Yamaha products - including two THR amps. Yamaha has been in the sound business for years - they know what they're doing.

    Hi Mike from over here in England (UK). Love your channel and always watch all your releases. (Just a quick VT pro tip from a retired TV director - me - When you use older clips of yourself or other performers under your own voice over, it is what we call GOLD FISHING !!! i.e. mouths are moving but the sound is not from them, it's your voice. Easy solution is to edit them as slo-mos, try 50% speed first and you will see a major difference. It's all about viewer's perception....it just works better for the viewer, trust me). Keep up the good work man, take care ! 👍👍👍

    Seriously, you have to get your hands on a p90 pacifica, my third guitar was a 311H and it's my favourite guitar, more than my revstar worth twice the price, more than mustang worth probably quadruple the price, and more than my strat which was my first guitar and the one with the biggest sentimental value, though funnily enough they may become equal when I put some time into making the strat nice and modding it how I want

  • @amackee
    @amackee 12 дней назад

    Just to start I am a big fan of all things Yamaha. All of my acoustics guitars are Yamahas (AC5R, LS56, NTX5, FG9), I own a BBP35, and my main keyboard is a Yamaha YC88. My main electric guitars are this exact Pacifica Professional, which I got at launch, and I haven't been disappointed with it since; and a Revstar Professional Dual Humbucker. Additionally, I own a Suhr Modern HSH Strat, a Suhr Strat HSS, and a Suhr Custom Telecaster that cost me a pretty penny. This Pacifica competes with all three Suhr guitars and, in my opinion, is better than the Suhrs (at least for my hands).
    The neck is a little less wide, and I can get my thumb around it and onto the low E string without issue on the higher frets (7 and up), which I struggle with on all the Suhrs. The Reflectone pickups are very clear and have excellent sound quality-I couldn’t be happier with them.
    The cool thing about the Yamaha versus my Suhrs is that they basically share the same neck specs, minus the thumb issue I mentioned earlier. For the money you pay for the Professional Pacifica, it competes with Suhr guitars. The only thing that Suhr does better is that they offer a noise cancelling system (extra cost though) that does not damage the tone of the single coils in the guitar. If Yamaha implements their own version later on that would be amazing.

    For my gen (born '82), you basically started on a Squier Strat (when Squier wasn't that cool) or a Pacifica (even less cool). It was sort of like "who'd want a pro model of the epitome of a beginner guitar?" So it's all about the 'student instrument' tag that they just can't shake in the guitar world for some reason. It doesn't translate to woodwind etc - Yamaha pro saxophones are arguably the best and most popular (62/87 models), despite Yamaha also being the epitome of student models. I'm old now and don't care what's cool, so am keen to try them out.

    I thinkt that their sub 1k made in indomesia guitars are excellent and that while the Japanese pro models are even bettter, they arent entirely worth the 2.5x price bump. Their QC of their indonesian guitars is so good I cant justify the expense for the Japan made ones.

    Its interesting that Yamaha has never taken off as a guitar brand, they are on paper a Japanese manufacturing giant that been around forever with a pretty good reputation for quality. They may have lucked out by never nabbing a popular signature series, Steve Vai really put Ibanez on the map. This high end Super Strat you featured kind of competes (price wise) with the Ultra II's, the good Ibanez Strats and maybe the PRS silver Sky SE's or other bolt-ons. Would be good to get a shootout as each has its own pros and cons and the Yamaha may be strong for certain applications / genres.
