      The question is what chemicals change the structure of the tire testing? In karting with my son we were a limited budget team tire prep was allowed but we didn't have the knowledge or money to have numerous tires with different prep programs. So what we used was Simple green and wd40 and it did help would either one of those show up on test sample. Reason I am asking if you use something like simple green or another product like it to clean your tires could it show up on the testing.

    Hoosier will never allow unregulated tire prep, because if a series allows unregulated tire prep, then the next logical move is to allow other tire manufacturers. Follow the money.

  • @TheBrookian

    If "doping" the tires makes them better, maybe Hoosier should just "dope" all of the tires before selling them. Then everyone is equal with better tires. Maybe there needs to be some competition in the tire arena. Seems like Goodyear, Firestone and others can make a damn good racing tire.

    • @jamietwigg4845

    There are inherent dangers from soaking tires. Some of the chemicals used to soften rubber are corosive. I had a friend who soaked tires for years. He fell and broke his arm. He found out that he had bone cancer. Later on his arm developed infection. He lost his arm and later his life. Before passed away from cancer. He found out he got cancer from the chemicals he was using to soak racing tires.

      @4g94boosted4 5 месяцев назад +1

      @nathansoltis7032 Well, it's a long prep for the tires, but you're essentially restructuring the molecular makeup of the rubber. The longer soak the "deeper" into the rubber you go, but the outer layer is way too mushy at that point. This is essentially what the tire test is looking for. If the tire is given an ice bath, the opposite effect happens. The breakdown that happens on the track is totally different than either of these, so the test can tell the difference. The chemicals does this rapidly. Also the same reason F1 cars have their tires on warmers before and during the race, and they can take turns at incredible speeds.

  • @MFR327
    @MFR327 5 месяцев назад

    Honestly, the only way to truly get rid of Tire Dope is to allow it in certain situations or certain races. For example, 100 lap races allow tire dope, but if the tire blows, the teams have to put on the hardest tire compound. Also, local racing is being hit hard by tire dope. But it's not being found because the track promoters no longer care because Atleast its putting on better racing. We have small, under financed teams running at the front of shows they normally couldn't because they can't afford brand new tires each and ever week.

    I know the answer- but who can tell me what soaking the tires actually does and how long it lasts for?
    For the amount of tires Pierce and Moran had tested at Volusia during the Dirt Car Nationals- added to how many dozens upon dozens of tire tests that they passed last year- you cannot get me to believe they purposely decided to cheat this time!!
    I am far more concerned with drivers running tires that are softer than mandated, and a durometer can easily take care of measuring that.
    Also- if some tech guy wants to tell me that "science does not lie", I give you exhibit A- COVID. After over 13 years in the Biomedical/Medical Device industry, and more than that crewing and car owning in dirt racing, I will guarantee you it is easier to "cheat" the science than it is to cheat in racing and not get caught.
    Bottom line- get the scientific testing and ridiculous wait times for results out of racing!
    WRG in the end will realize they did far more damage to themselves with their ridiculous over-weighted fines and suspensions out of the sport. Take the purse money and points away for the night if you feel they cheated- just like any other rule doesn't pass (weight, droop, etc.), but for goodness' sake don't sabotage your own brand by driving the teams and the fans away with your poor communication and decision making!!

Don't get me started on how many variables can be used to falsify lab test results. NO DATA=NO PROOF. Is the testing lab on continuous video surveillance? I would bet not- NO DATA-=NO PROOF. @jsadowski44 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@jamietwigg4845 Apparently my last answer was a little too racy for my Joiner friends- so I will try to be less specific and more polite this time. As I said previously, a mass spec is only as good as the sample that is prepped for it-
      However- if the failed samples in question did indeed have chemical compound changes as you suggested, that would indeed change the durometer reading.
      You can only get more grip from a tire 2 ways- make it softer- or make it stickier. If you make it stickier, you will see, feel and smell the difference in the tire physically- as the prep must adhere to the top of the rubber- and you will definitely see and/or smell the difference when you bring your groover up and burn/cut the sample off to present to the officials. Tech is not an easy game- there is no reason to make it any harder than it needs to be.
