Would you ever consider doing a short video about ranking Island Challenges in Alola (maybe a 2 in 1 video ranking about the best Island Challenge, and the best Grand Trial)
I will definitely rank all of Ash's Grand Trials in a video. I don't really have a good idea for how to incorporate the other parts of the island challenge into a ranking, but at some point I would love to talk about things like Ash vs Laurantis, Kiawe vs Tapu Lele, and Mallow cooking vs Tapu Koko
The 2nd battle against Wulfric really benefits from being the finale of Greninja's training arc. Literally one of the battles of all time.

It does always make me laugh hearing Wulfric go "HOW did you get so much stronger in the few days since you were last here?" lol good luck battling against an anime protagonist, Wulfric
Every gym battle Ash had in Kalos was amazing Ash made smart decisions and train his pokemon to get ready and made strategies how to win Ash matured alot in the Kalos saga.

My favorite is Ash vs Wulfrig as well. But one of my favorite moments is in the episode between battles when Ash and Greninja perfect their Battle Bond. Ash and Greninja are trapped in the middle of a forest during a blizzard and they see a group of Spewpa in the cold, so they go to take them to a cave, but one falls to a cliff and Greninja jumps to save it activating the Battle Bond with Ash watching all Greninja is watching as well during the fall to help him get the Spewpa and land safely, ending with Greninja reacting just like Ash was when they saved the Spewpa.
I think everyone really likes that episode, but this video was already long enough so I couldn't do a full recap if it😅 but it made Ash's rematch against Wulfric that much better!
In my opinion all of Ash's Kalos gym battles are almost equal to eachother since they were all so good the animation, pacing, stategy and story telling was so good. But some of them stand out since they had deeper meaning and depth. Every Gym Battle also learned Ash something new which he eventually used therefore the Best Gym Battles in the whole series
I will be curious to see how I rank these in a tier list, I think his Kalos Gym Battles are all B-tier or above, maybe I would put Grant at C-tier. I think Ash's Kalos Gym Battles are very close to his Sinnoh Gym Battles in overall quality
I agree Ash's Kalos gyms were awesome and amazing at the same time it show how much Ash had matured and grown as a trainer he made smart choices with his line up pokemon.

Ash’s rematch against Wulfric might be one of his best gym battles. PERIOD. Even if I do wish it was more then just a 3-on-3
It was because of the Ash vs Wulfric rematch that I started watching the Pokemon anime again. Such an incredible battle!
It was because of the Team Flare arc that I started watching Pokémon again! Glad I went back and watched such an incredible battle😇
Honestly I wish Ash caught at least one more Pokémon as his team at best was only 5 Pokémon max….and Noivern didn’t even get to battle in a gym battle!
Honestly these gym battles make me wish we got another series like XY in the anime with ash again….
Honestly, all of Ash's Gym Battles in Kalos were amazing in their own way. One thing you did not mention is that some of these gym battles required Ash to learn a lesson that can be applied to gym battles.
Ash vs Grant: where he chose to climb a rock wall to learn the state of enlightenment where his vision is crystal clear. Plus, Grant gave him a choice. He didn't force Ash to climb.
Ash vs Ramos: never lose sight of what is important and calm your mind. Plus, Ash and his friends needed a tea break after climbing the giant tree.
Ash vs Valerie: all Pokemon have hidden fangs that may cause their opponent's downfall. If you mess with a Fire-type, you're going to get burned and if you mess with a wrestler, prepare to be pummeled HARD.
Ash vs Korrina: all trainers and Pokemon have their own unique way of battling. Also, patience is needed when you wish to arrive at your destination (where Ash had to wait for the low tide to enter the Gym).
Ash vs Viola: learning from the past to succeed into the future. When Ash uses Clemont's failure and Serena's motivation to win.
Ash vs Clemont: know your Pokemon well enough to determine the right move at the right time. Pikachu using Iron Tail when Bunnelby was underground, when Hawlucha timed High Jump Kick when Heliolisk was about to use Flash and when Goodra used Rain Dance because Goodra is comfortable in the rain.
Ash vs Olympia: Trust your Pokemon and they will come through. Pikachu's timing, Talonflame's strength and speed and Frogadier's willpower is enough to overpower the Meowstic's tactics.
Ash vs Wulfric: Be one with your Pokemon and they'll come through. Ash listens to his Pokemon. When Pikachu needed to warm up after Icy Wind, when Talonflame needed to fire up to endure Avalanche and when Greninja confirms with Ash that it's time to go all out.
But seeing how only 2 of these gym leaders used mega evolutions (in the region that INTRODUCES Mega Evolutions), now I want to see what other mega evolutions the other gym leaders would use, not just Kalos (besides Misty and Brock).

I thought all of ash's Kalos gym battles were great, tho my favourite one has to be his rematch with Wulfric. It was a great display of the progress Ash and Greninja had made in mastering their newfound power and the final clash between Ash-Greninja and Mega Abomasnow was awesome
Also I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the spinning X Scissor that was used to break trick room was cool
Ash's strategies against Valerie were great, and I really don't care if that battle did not follow game logic that closely haha.
And yes, Ash-Greninja vs Mega Abomasnow was epic🔥

I criticise a little bit this battle which you placed at first. Wulfric used much better strategy against ash when he battled first time against ash. He used ability of 'Abomasnow' which later became very useful for 'Avalugg'. Avalugg was a pokemon which required very tough hits to get defeated. Since Abomasnow's ability was recovering 'Avalugg' from damage, there was neccessary requirement to knock out Avalugg in one hit which was very tough to do. In addition ability of 'Abomasnow' was constantly causing damage to pokemons of ash. That was really some strategy. If Wulfric used 'Abomasnow' first and made it use that ability again and in addition make it mega evolve. I really suspect that getting victory in this battle was really out of Ash's range.
Problems with the wulfric fight second time is that he forgets to use hail avalanche healing combo, dissapointing really
Honestly Clemont should’ve totally taken his Heliolisk with him on his team for the rest of XY after his gym battle with ash.
Clembot needed it for the gym
Not that I disagree much with list, but I would say I’m annoyed at the second battle for not really paying off the first battle - the thing you want to see in a rematch is Ash overcome the things he struggled against before, but Wulfric just doesn’t use “fantastic strategy” in the second battle so Ash never overcame them
I think I’d put the second battle with Wulfric below the battle with Olympia and maybe put Ramos above Valerie but besides that - you’re spot on, great to see you talking facts about Ash vs Korrina!
I agree that Wulfric's strategy was probably better in the first battle, but I don't mind it because A) he uses a new strategy in the rematch, it would have been a little boring going through the motions again if the battle started with Pikachu/Hawlucha defeating Abomasnow for a second time, and B) the Mega Abomasnow finale is so good that I can forgive Avalugg not being the main focus of the battle again
I think your one and two were a complete tie. I mean the reason why I love them so much is because they both have the excitement of Ash Greninja. Xyz is my favorite pokemon show of all time.
Honestly Kalos overall has the best set of gym battles.
Yeah I agree that 'Future Sight' move was taken very light in Kalos region in compare to 'Future sight' used by one of small and cute legendary pokemons in Sinnoh region which destroyed floating fortress like of ruthless pokemon hunter J in one hit and then that sank in river forever causing end of her and her hunting team fellows.
Honestly I agree with the statement about breaking trick room, you can't in the game for the sake of mechanics but the anime treats it like a living breathing world not fully confined by game mechanics so I never really understood why so many people were salty about it

I actually enjoyed ash vs valerie. I never cared about how hawlucha broke trick room. I thought it was a cool combo. Maybe they should make a move that gets rid of trick room
I really enjoyed that battle too, it felt weird for me ranking it 7th when I have almost no bad things to say about it🤷
The Rock-type and Fighting-type gyms reminds me, would anyone be interested in seeing my Machamp/Graveler video? I have a few questions. Artists preferred.
W for the Korina battle
It's been 3000 years
Karina was very well bonded with her lucario. Her partner since she was a little kid. So they should be very close in bonding and very good in figthing tyle moves. Add the mega evolution factor it should make it much more difficult for ash and pikachu. It seemed little lame pikachu defeating mega lucario of a trainer with which this lucario had years of bond in compare to ash and pikachu. It should have shown many kung fu fighting skills too. Then it could have been one of the memorable battle. This gym battle should have happened when ash had his froakie fully evolved. Mega lucario's fightning skills vs ash's bond evolved Greninja showing very good speed and reflexes against each other and giving a very tight fight to each other.

I'm personally not really a fan of the anime giving Grant an Onix of all Rock-type Pokémon. That's the most generic Pokémon you can give to a Rock Gym Leader. Seemed so unimaginative and boring to me.
One flaw with with Ramos was that although his Jumpluff impacted the battle a lot by using Sunny Day, it itself didn't manage to land any blows.
Sylveon is one of my favorite Pokémon ever (like all Eeveelutions), so it not being Valerie's ace in the anime kinda stings me a little.
Not bad points regarding the battle with Korrina. I really liked their rematch during Journeys.
Abomasnow was really inconsistent in between the two battles. Same for Avalugg, but on a lesser regard.
There are a couple things that grind my gears a bit regarding Viola: 1) Why would a Bug Trainer use an ice strategy? 2) Why did Viola treat Ice Beam only as means to create an ice field and never used it for offense?
Again, good points, especially with Goodra's finish. Really people only remember that matchup due to the epic finish. Otherwise, it's just Goodra taking hits.
The endurance Talonflame and Frogadier had was also a bit of a critique for me, but I really liked how both Meowstic used their Abilities. It's not often when we see more than one Ability in a single battle in the anime.
Despite Greninja's popularity, I'm personally not really a fan of the "Chosen One" trope, which, in this case more applies to Greninja than Ash. A bit too shonen to my taste. But not a bad battle, and also the last Gym battle Ash has had to date.
Will you rate any other battles? Like trial battles from SM? Top 10 WCS battles?

Viola using an ice strategy is extra cool to me since it has nothing to do with Bugs lol. Completely unexpected, I like it.
I also am not the biggest fan of Ash-Greninja, so its battle against Mega Abomasnow is undoubtedly my favorite moment from its time in the show. In almost any other context, I am usually pretty meh on Ash's Greninja, I like it but don't love it. But I love Ash vs Wulfric II

But at some point my review of Journeys as a whole series, and my mega video ranking every Journeys episode will take a lot of time away from those other ones. But hopefully it won't be that long before I post my next ranking video!

Still wonder what Wulfric's final Pokemon would have been in the 1st Gym battle. I would think either Cryogonal, or maybe even Mega Glalie. Surely Bergmite would not have been last.
Also, you should rank All of Ash's League Battles. Like 1 video, Gen's 1 thru 4, and the 2nd video, Gen's 5 thru 8.
I have it down on a list to one day make a video ranking all of Ash's League Battles. And no breaking it up into parts, it will be one big epic list haha
