- Here are the highlights after the highly demanding 48-hour chrono Stage 6 drew to a close. Just making it through the two days in Empty Quarter is an achievement in itself, whilst for Frenchmen Van Beveren and Loeb they can celebrate as the stage winners in their respective categories. Heading into a well earned rest day it is now Ricky Brabec who leads overall in the Bikes standings and in the Ultimate class the considerable experience of Carlos Sainz has taken him to the top. The action resumes in Riyadh with Stage 7 on Sunday.

Yeah. Mad respect for these feeds. But I remember those 20 or so minutes long daily feeds done by Eurosport. When I was a teenager. Those were peak. The vibe, the small segments from the night camps, showing smaller teams as well and how they struggled, fought by the sides of big teams. It was impressive. Inspiring even.

As a WRC fan...Loeb & Sainz on the same stage in 2024 is MAGIC.
Why not release long length videos with all of the helicopter footage? There are many hours recorded every day. I would just like to watch some people actually riding the amazing terrain.

Because they sold the rights to TV companies (which I don’t watch) but forgot to make a service like F1TV for instance where you could make millions by selling a subscription for the Dakar Rally. I would literally pay 50 bucks for it, but year after year (even when racing in a filthy rich country like SA) they don’t think about that. The coverage is really dissapointing, and it seems like it gets worse every year.
@@Asyouwere Because they would make 10x less monney with your ppv system, It would end their contracts and partnerships with hundreds of broadcasters from almost 200 countries around the world...

This 48-hour attrition stage was expected to shake up the leaderboard, but no one would have guessed such impactful upsets - Nasser Al-Attiyah and Janus van Kasteren out of the reckoning and Seth Quintero back into the top 10! Peterhansel way beyond the top ten as well. One thing has been constant though - Eric Goczal's utter dominance. He's the Max Verstappen of Dakar! 😎😎

This is my favorite event of the year, by far. Everything about it speaks to the spirit of motorsports and sports in general, as well as showcasing the best of the human spirit.

I enjoy the commentary and these videos in general, but why the mismatch between length of time spent on bikes and trucks? Less than a minute on the trucks!

I would welocme if the channels were differentiated per language, it is so hard to find this video every day. Or use the new feature that lets you put multiple sound tracks to each video. It would help with reach to imo.
The "local broadcaster" sucks so hard in covering the Dakar! I don't even try anymore to watch, so I can't be disapointed that the program get's delayed every single evening because the 53rd replay of the 1992 Barnsley Snooker Open preliminary seems way more important...
Question for those in the know. How come paddle tires aren't used in the dunes? Not allowed or ??
Stages aren’t all dunes. Liason between stages consists of tar and hardpack dirt roads, which will ruin a paddle tyre before you even get to the special stage start.

These dakar videos have the worst people in the comments. Go to your local broadcaster for an hour long recap everyday. Stop whinging and appreciate these little snaps for what they are, RUclips videos.
Nobody knows why this Saudi Arabian rally is still called Dakar. Every day the same landscape and the same conditions, basically you only need to look at a single stage and otherwise just the results. What was the old Dakar in Africa exciting as a spectator? Today it's just a boring parody of what was once the most beautiful rally in the world.
Would be great for fans if you give a little more coverage to Cars. Your highlights should be getting even more views with a little tweaking while still protecting your ''local broadcasters''.

Coverage is rubbish. Stupid comments and jokes. Show some serious grit and the original. The whole thing feels stupid instead of serious. I once wanted to participate and now feel like the Dakar is a simple pay your money and attend to get a trophy. Again no grit. Almost tuned out… who cares about the championship. Show the days results and overall Dakar for longer .
