Some notes: 1-That graphical glitch was inexistent during my game sessions, i found it in the recordered videos using XBOX GameBar. I don't have idea why! 2- Some things I didn't mention in the video (otherwise it would have been too wordy or boring... or simply forgot) are that ships that fire with cannons can be upgraded to fire more intensely. The carried units contained in ships that are hit by cannon blasts receive some damages and explosions in general cause a bit of splash damage. Also arabian magicians can cast the Fire Rain that is ridicusly overpowered, lel. 3- From what i know the difference between "The Burden Of The Crown" and others like that involving Excalibur and King Arthur are just the featured campaign and, MAYBE, the remixed musics. 4- I admit i didn't play and record many skirmishes for this review, so you just saw perhaps 5 skirmishes and 8 campaign missions (i played it all many years ago and didn't have the time to do it again)
Tzar was one of my favourites during middle school, I had to make a video about it. The campaign was indeed hard with many difficulty spikes, sometimes I feel surprised that i was able to finish it.
I love this game. My first experience with it was when my older brother borrowed it from a neighbor, I would watch him play it on our old windows 98 PC. It was so mysterious, compared to the usual C&C and AoE we normally played. I particularly love the light RPG elements and the amazing OST. Thank you Bulgaria for this gem.
Every time i see an RTS review i feel a strong sense of nostalgia of a time that there isn't anymore. Is more about games is just about the perception of "time" in games like these in the span of 25+ years, everything now feels so fast, immediate and accessible and these are the cardinal elements that somehow have put the RTS genre few stairs lower than where it used to be and that's sad but i am still proud to have witnessed the era where RTS was at his peak with his narrative and variety.
We Bulgarians are not famous with our video game development but this game, along with Celtic Kings and Imperivm: Great Battles of Rome, is a timeless classic. Yes, if we look at these games from today's point of view, they may look very sloppy and with lots of flaws, but we should appreciate what the guys from Haemimont Games have done back in the day with the little resources they've had. The fact that there are people who still play and review this game 24 years after its release says enough.
Real-time strategy games simply aren't my forte, and when it comes to playing them, I feel utterly out of my depth, I'm afraid. The most I've ever managed is having a bash at Plants vs. Zombies, but I'm not entirely convinced it can be classified as a proper RTS, if I'm being honest

Thanks for making this video and covering Tzar! I never was able to beat it but it is fun anyway and the story sounded cool.

The screams always used to bother my mother too,(and still does since she heard it in the video)
It must be a sort of PTSD for both our mothers!
The units' portraits are 200% excellent 😂
You mean the story characters? Yes, they are indeed cartoonish. Also, for the pikeman Woolin they used an archer's picture, lmao.
Nice work, good job

Yeah, it's truly a work of passion.

Here, in italy, it was quite a hit and its sourceport called Tzared is played by lots of people.
Tzar yes stuck units but on divided from Age of epires 1 and 2 you don't feel like doing decimation for disobeying orders.
The worst were the catapults. Sometimes you have the urge to cut down the trees in order to make the heavy ones proceed further.

I didn't play that, so i can't tell neither.
Is more a straightforward tower defense who comes from RTS games as a genre, just like MOBA.
