When my Dad and I would go on roadtrips we would stop at every border and he would pop a cool one and toast the border. I took pics of him doing it. He’s gone and those memories I hope I’ll never lose. Enjoy this time with your dad. You’re blessed to still have him. Love the videos.
I live in Vegas and my mom lives in LA, so we do this drive together a lot and look for new things every time. Enjoyed this video since it really reminds me of that. We also like Kelso Dunes (south of Baker), Rainbow Basin (close to Calico), Mormon Rocks (before you hit the San Bernardino Co.), and if you're up for more driving, Amboy crater, Pisgah crater, Bristol salt flats, etc., as my main interest is geology. I've even been out to the NASA/JPL DSN by Barstow which is a cool tour if they still do it. I am sure in other videos you've already visited these places though. Two places I have never visited but are interesting are Huell Howser's old volcano house and that old closed down water park. Looking forward to seeing more of your adventures. (edit for typo)
That mountain in the background of the Calico picture at 11:18 - I live at the base of it. Elephant Mountain is what they call it now, old timer's called it Table Mountain.
That Route66 video was the one that really kicked off the planning for the NY>LA road trip I did last year. Every coffee and donut stop made me think of you and Pops!
Hey pops is back! Always love yalls road trip videos. You made a comment at the end about it being 2 hours of our time, but the long videos are my fav! Thanks for sharing with us as always.
We always took that route back and fourth from Florida. I have so many pi’s of the sign from original days. My dad took my moms and to see everything. I’m 52 now and so greatly appreciate my dad taking us to see the country. I ran in the spot with rocks as a kid . I do miss the original state signs from back in the day. Today you can fly rite by ✨✌️💜
I usually turn my Vegas road trips into a multi day event. Starting in Southern California driving to Julian, camping in anza borrego, then driving to Laughlin for a night. And finally on day 3 visit the Oatman donkeys then driving into Vegas.
Calico is famous for its ghost sightings. A photo I took from the observation point - on a clear, sunny day - came out with a patch of mist floating center frame. I contend that it’s one of the departed former citizens, coming back to say Hi!
This video gave me a chuckle. My daughter and family lived in North Las Vegas and now in Pahrump. Have driven this road many times. I have never stopped at any of these. Drove to destination. You have shown me to slow the drive down, stop and see along the way. I will be driving it next week Thursday, I will be stopping at the Bottle ranch and Alien in Baker. We now take off 15 at Baker and head towards Death Valley on our way to Pahrump. I’ve been to Death Valley and Ash Meadows. Keep exploring, making the stops, and sharing your adventures with us. Go Pops.
Another classic road trip video from you both, thanks for making it. I remember watching the Route 66 video you made - it might even have been the first one of yours I'd ever seen - and really enjoyed that too. Recommended!
You 2 make a great team, best son and dad duo. As well at Josh you're looking more and more like a man the more and more I see your videos. Thank you for your video content as your my number 1 channel
Greetings from Melbourne, Australia..thanks for the great videos..my favourites were Monument Valley and Route 66.. I would dearly love to drive those!
Hi👋🏽Josh… Hi👋🏽Pops… I’m glad to see that Josh is paying you back some of that money you spent on him😂by Enjoying his time with you on all these Road Trips. We all Love❤️Love❤️Love you both. TFS🙏🏽another Fabulous trip with us…and making me😀Smile.
when i searched the you tube and then this video came up , before seeing video I made liked first! as I am your fan and happy to see your video again . and I am happy that I see your father at start time of video too.
Back in 2010 during the Shanghai world expo, the city of Shanghai did convert an old factory chimney to a thermometer, which is 4 time taller (541.3FT/165M) then the what so call "World's Tallest Thermometer" in Baker CA (134FT/41M)
If you can buy something at the World's Largest Thermometer gift shop - it helps pay the electric bill to keep the Thermometer lit. It went dark for like a decade due to the rising costs, thus the ownership transfer.
Great video guys ! Once we were driving from LA to Vegas and the interstate was closed due to a bushfire. So we took a detour through Big Bear and then down to Barstow. Found a great place for lunch called Slash X Ranch Cafe. You should check it out !
Its not a stop but I remember being fascinated by the Ivanpah Solar Power Facility the first time I drove from SoCal to Vegas. Alien fresh is always my favorite stop on that drive.
This is the best drive in the United States. Especially if you take the detour off interstate to Joshua Tree. More times than not you’re the only one on the road and it’s a spiritual experience!
It was totally fine, nothing crazy. We were in one of the more renovated rooms I think but it was still pretty well priced and it was easy walk to Caesar’s and Bellagio to see the fountains so it worked for us
I've been there, it's pretty small. Looked like it was supposed to be an old gas station once upon a time, but not sure how long the thermometer gift shop will be there for - it was called a Temp Shop when I was there in Dec 2022?
Been enjoying your videos since discovering your channel a few days ago, but now that you are including sponsored ads I won't be watching anymore. Way to ruin a good thing!
Pops is back. Nice video again.

"Used all my money to raise my son." nice clap back, pops. Well done.
I know! I loved his dad's response, "Yeah I was basically being a responsible good parent son, so when was there time or money to travel?" 😂😂😂
@Skinn Walker Hahaha thanks for the support!
right.
was about to type exactly that! :-)
A great set of 10 stops Josh! Glad to see the Bottle Ranch has reopened!
My mom and I rewatched the whole Route 66 vid two days ago haha! It’s such a comforting re-watch! 😂😂
Your travels with your dad are my favorite videos on your channel!
Always great when I see one of your videos pop up! Never a dull moment and you and your dad are so great to watch together. You are blessed !

@Jam 168 Yeah, I love stopping by the Mormon Rocks. So unique and so beautiful. Thanks for reminding us of that!
Love all of your video. Cherish these times with your father.

This video is a great example of why we love seeing you guys traveling together. So nice to see you guys having fun together! 🙌🏽😊
@Violet BF Thanks so much!
Great video Josh! Your videos with your father are the ones that I watch before any others.
That Route66 video was the one that really kicked off the planning for the NY>LA road trip I did last year. Every coffee and donut stop made me think of you and Pops!

Pop dwarfing the carboard cuts of Kirk and the Enterprise crew confirms he could have made an awesome Chewbacca.
ILL pops! 🔶🔷 Great video as always
@SenecaFlint Seems like there are quite a few of us Illinois grads out there!
Really chilled watch thanks guys. Really want to do this run at some point. Thanks for the info and detail.

Great video, and the Route 66 road trip-video was the first video I watch from your channel.
Greetings from Norway!
Thanks for the advice, very nice suggestions!
Loved your Route 66 video, Pontiac is a wonderful town, my friend and I are more than halfway from completing the Route

Enjoyed your road trips, so much to see💖💖
Keep making videos with Pops!
If you can buy something at the World's Largest Thermometer gift shop - it helps pay the electric bill to keep the Thermometer lit. It went dark for like a decade due to the rising costs, thus the ownership transfer.
I had no idea that Jenny Rose restaurant was in Sheryl Crow's song, I do remember her singing about Barstow.
Maybe stop at some of the Mojave Desert attractions.
Great video Josh! hello from france
Great video man 👍
Thank you for sharing ❤
What a fun journey from Vegas with Pops! I never knew about Alien Fresh and now it’s gonna have to be a stop next time.
Alien Jerky charges 4% if you use a credit card so bring cash!
Great video guys ! Once we were driving from LA to Vegas and the interstate was closed due to a bushfire. So we took a detour through Big Bear and then down to Barstow. Found a great place for lunch called Slash X Ranch Cafe. You should check it out !
Can't believe you didn't stop at Peggy Sue's for lunch. Love your videos.
Its not a stop but I remember being fascinated by the Ivanpah Solar Power Facility the first time I drove from SoCal to Vegas. Alien fresh is always my favorite stop on that drive.
Great guirky sites! Happy trails 😊
I always wanted to go to the Calico Ghost Town. Next time I will stop there!
SO INTERESTING AND excitante VLOG, THANK'S
Looks like you had the Calico Ghost Town to yourselves. I imagine in better weather and on weekends it would be a lot more crowded.
that gas station, 99 pumps hahaha and that big of a store! what... pass thru this route more than at least 20 times never knew this existed... hahaha
I love the desert too.
Love this highway ..thx
Great video.
This is the best drive in the United States. Especially if you take the detour off interstate to Joshua Tree. More times than not you’re the only one on the road and it’s a spiritual experience!
Nice trip...
Alien Jerky is the spot. Did you guys see any indecline graff in the desert?
Your Dad is 6'7" - no wonder he towered over those Star Trek characters.
The rocks look like giant size chunks of play-doh!
I love calico Ghost town you should go during the month of October for the Halloween festivities
Could you give us a hint of when your next road trip is going to be? And where?
Calico has the coolest birds
Hello which highway you took from Las Vegas to LA to be able to pass by to these places? Thanks
Hey Josh, how was the Flamingo? We're going to Vegas in July and Wife wants to stay there.
It was totally fine, nothing crazy. We were in one of the more renovated rooms I think but it was still pretty well priced and it was easy walk to Caesar’s and Bellagio to see the fountains so it worked for us
Shout Out to the Seven Magic Mountains bulldozer driver because without him it wouldn't have been possible.
I didn’t realize there was a shop at the thermometer.
I've been there, it's pretty small. Looked like it was supposed to be an old gas station once upon a time, but not sure how long the thermometer gift shop will be there for - it was called a Temp Shop when I was there in Dec 2022?
Are usual is take pictures at the state line
Have you heard about the Asbury revival, going strong since February 8th since today!
Have you tried Kenyan central province coffee? Best on the World 😉
You should have gone to Omega Mart in L.V. also your dad is 6'7?!
GR8 !!!
Went to Calico in the late 1980s. Not much seems to have changed since then. Barstow🤢🤮
You forgot about Franklin
❤❤❤
What happens in Vegas...
They phone tagged you. But eventually you found the car.
Pops is 6'7" - how tall is the kid?
@Perry Jones Josh is a mere 6'2" or 6'3" Hahaha
How can there be no graffiti on that colored rock installation??!
It was only supposed to be here for a limited time, but as they have extended that, it gets repainted periodically afaik (just what i've heard though)
@@primarytrainer1 Makes sense, the colors always look so vibrant.
Surprised some drunk (or non-drunk for that matter) teenagers with baseball bats haven't destroyed that bottle tree ranch yet. It's what they do.
Just say no to clickbait arrows.
Been enjoying your videos since discovering your channel a few days ago, but now that you are including sponsored ads I won't be watching anymore. Way to ruin a good thing!
Did you see the covid head?
Great work as always!
