My first time I got 6 quail eggs and only 1 hatched the rest were infertile! I named him happy feet lol ( he is now 5 1/2 weeks old ). This time I ordered 10 and 9 are good. yesterday they were put in lockdown and today they are on day 16 they are rocking a bit, I can't wait for them to hatch.
That's great to hear, lets hope they hatch. I've got 23 eggs in the incubator on my desk at the moment. About 12 have hatched so far. Will see how many we get form them :)
People ( I think) have difficulties with The yellow because the thermometer reader in that incubator only extends a couple of centimetres down, whilst the eggs sit at the bottom. I'm currently incubating quails in one but I've added sawdust so the eggs sit at the same level as the temp reader. Started with 12, 3 weren't fertile 9 developed, but six have since died (bloodlines) and 3 are ok. I candled them today and saw movement, this will be my first time hatching, if the remainder survive there last week.
Good video I was not having the best results with my old bator but got an Janoel 12 from Amazon for about £70 and I have never had less than 90% I did 36.7c 55% day 14 LD 75% always hatch day 17 all together without fail.
i get 20 eggs a day from my quail so far i have had a 87% and a 72% hatch rate soon as my guinea eggs get out ill start another batch. they grow very fast 6 weeks they will be laying eggs on their own.
You certainly can candle Quail eggs. Terry over on the Coturnix Corner channel, also debunked this without intending to actually do a debunk. He just showed how to candle them and if it's empty/infertile and if there is an air sack and dark inside. Sometimes you can even see veins, etc.
Hi, my first time incubating quail eggs. Today was day 20 and none had hatched.(I got them packed on the market, for eating not hatching) as it was day 20 I thought nothing would happen now. I opened one of the eggs and there was a live fully formed chick. I’m devastated! I put the rest back in the incubator which is the same one you put yours in on lockdown. Hopefully I haven’t killed the others. How long should I leave them for?
Some quails take til day 23 to hatch!! Next time if you can’t see anything with candling I’d suggest a water float test. Basically putting the egg in a glass of water and see if it moves :) Hope this helped 😊xxx
you can use the same one to hatch, we found an awesome cabinet incubator on market place facebook for 100$ so that would be a good place to look 31 eggs should hatch next week
Ordered 18 from Ebay. Very cheap. Maybe 5 days till hatch and I had 6 definite duds. Transparent. 10 look good and solid and two look like they've got somthing in then but I think they failed early on. But I'm going to give them a chance.
@@AnnoyDad got five hatched so far. Four pharaohs and a silver by the looks of it. Gonna let the incubator go another day incase of any late bloomers :) so smol, so LOUD.
Personally, I don't hatch many quail. But normally it's until all eggs have hatched (to avoid drying out the membrane from pipped ones), or 24 hours for quail I believe, or if they've all hatched, its when they are dry and fluffy. Hope that helps :)
I was reading up on this and some people said u have to wait 12 hours with the quail eggs a 65 to 70 degree (f) before moving them to the incubator is this true?
Personally, and the same applies to chickens, duck and geese as well.... If all the eggs have hatched, the chicks are dry and fluffy, and the brooder is up to temp, then there is no reason not to move them. I have no issue opening an incubator, if everything has hatched, and the chicks are dry. If they are wet, then wait, but I can't see why say 12 hours? Maybe thats just personal opinion?
Thanks but the second question was actually unrelated and was asking about how the eggs should be delt with upon arrival in the mail. Some say to wait 12 hours before placing them in an incubator but this sounds ridiculous but is this true?
That really depends on how much you want to spend. You can get cheap automatic incubators for £20 from Amazon, or you pay £200 and get a decent one. Then there is the heat lamps, and brooder, which can be another £40 to £50.
That all depends on what you want to do. Some people like to hatch their own, and then they know the bloodlines, age of the birds, health of the birds etc The other way to look at it, is once you've bought all the gear, its then yours for years to come, and most holds its value. Personally, I like to hatch my own.
That's up to you, and where you live, depending on the relative humidity. Normally, placing in enough that it does not all evaporate after 3 days is a rough guide on what I work.
Quail have no sense of how high from the ground they are also best to keep them low for this reason as they jump 😂 and only birds i keep that don’t like people full stop ✋ not like chickens at all
@Martha belle I had supermarket quail eggs,and from 12eggs 8 hatched 😂last january.unfortunatly 7rosters and only one girl.the eggs have to be fresh,not older then 7 day's
Last one died was in shell too long couldn't get it's body straight once it got out I had to help it out. Getting a day behind just means the temp got a bit low or something

Currently on an incubating watch spree. Thanks for the uploads! Your videos are the best! So glad I found this channel ❤️

Amazing.. Do they(your suppliers) or you guys ship quail within U.S?
Danielle Stansbury Hi, what seller did u get the eggs from on eBay?
I paid $35 for 56 quail eggs here in the US and 28 hatched. Didn't think that was too bad😁🐣
That's not bad!
I wish I could do that
What incubator did you use?
@@terryreyes1125 little giant still air
Those are some expensive quail eggs

I got 60 eggs, still in the incubator, I’ll comment a update when they hatch, great video!
Good Luck with them

Hatching quail is great 🤗👍next week I get some celadon quail eggs, that's my Christmas present 🎅🌲
Oooh, I just Googled them, they look cute!
Cool
i’m hatching celadon quails for my birthday, they are hatching soon
@@Madswinglehurst That is a great Birthday present 🐣🐣🐣🐣all the wishes from Germany.
Ulrike Märtin thank you! 3 of them hatched which was really good, they are all doing well :)
quail eggs have a lot less mass than other eggs and leaving the lid off the incubator for that long would have done them no good at all.

WooHoo!! Thank You :)
Ok?
I'm thinking of growing a few for my bengal to eat
Hopefully you will cull them humanely before feeding them to your cat.

Just built an incubator, have 72 eggs going in tomorrow. Hopefully I have a good hatch rate.
Some of my Eggs have a very big dark spot but also a very big light spot like 50:50. And they are also very light weight.
How are the chicks doing now?
🤔
In the belly
Why did you change the incubator can I hatch with the same small incubator
I only changed as I wanted to use a different one for hatching. But yes, you can use the same one throughout.

Yup, very loud. Give them a week, and they will be very smelly as well. The wife has banned them from the house now, as they stink so much.
How long should freshly hatched quail stay in the incubator?
