I live in far western Kentucky. 27 years ago we started raising Coturnix quail. We had about 500. A LOT OF EGGS! They make great deviled eggs and pickled eggs! We now raise 10,000 Bob White quail each year.

Thanks so much for the glowing recommendation of my channel. A tip on the water when it is freezing, use a container similar to your feeder. It doesn't need to be as fancy but cut holes in the side of a Tupperware style container and they can get their heads in to get a drink but can't get in the water to fowl it up. Good luck on the birds you mixed in too. They tend to get aggressive when introduced to new birds and they can beat the tar of them. The most common issue is pecking the eyes. usually they work it out but sometimes you will lose a bird or two to overly aggressive hens.

Think 1oz to a liter of sand volume. My sand bath batches are 5 parts sand, 1-2 parts fine soil, 1 part fireplace ash, 1 part dried coffee grounds and a 1/4-1/2 cup diatomaceous earth. Mix in a 5 gallon bucket and I have been using cereal boxes with front of the box cut out (leaving 1/2" lip) for disposable sand baths. The lip keeps the sand in longer and you can toss them when they get too beat up.
