I really don’t know what business I have in all this as a Pakistani origin person settled in USA since 1977. Surely news from the subcontinent is of interest to me and my extended family. Obviously I am very used to Indian and Pakistani RUclips newscasters and analysts and there provocative style journalism. Off course it sells and is good for business. While Pakistani shows are mostly in Urdu (Hindi), India has many more shows in English. Now here is my worry and I am being sympathetic to India here, even I am a great fan of Canada and the equal and welcoming society it has created. I really don’t know what business I have in all this as a Pakistani origin person settled in USA since 1977. Surely news from the subcontinent is of interest to me and my extended family. Obviously I am very used to Indian and Pakistani RUclips newscasters and analysts and there provocative style journalism. Off course it sells and is good for business. While Pakistani shows are mostly in Urdu (Hindi), India has many more shows in English. Now here is my worry and I am being sympathetic to India here, even I am a great fan of Canada and the equal and welcoming society it has created. Whenever I interact with Canadian migrants, I find them genuinely in love with Canada … far more … much much more, than what I observe of migrants to USA. In general Canada and Canadians standing on world stages gets very high marks. Now, the type of venomous shows coming out of India badmouthing Canada is being noted by the West with grave concern. While the dispute can be argued by either side, the venomous, personal, below the belt (unrelated to the dispute) attacks on Canada, Canadians etc is not going well in the West, where Canada and Canadians (unlike USA and Americans) are very respected, loved and admired. The West is taking note of how Indian react to disputes and making comparisons of Indian media to Canada and also to other media outlets in the West and East. In the end, a person or society is measured not by its behavior during times of friendship but during dispute. Civility shown during enmity (dispute) is a more accurate measure of a society’s social and more standing.
