NOTE to new gardeners- Follow the advice of this video and you could run into ALL kinds of issues. Just one example- Coffee, after brewed, the acidity has been cleared out, leaving a full basket of NITROGEN rich grounds. Tomatoes only need a little bit of nitrogen. Give them to much and you will have massive plants, and little to no fruit. Find reputable Master Gardeners like- Grow your Veg ( Ben) Gardener Scott, The Ripe Tomato -there are many- I recommend starting with Ben.

Wow. I'm so happy I came across this video because I love coffee, but I knew that throwing out that fresh grounds wasn't smart. I knew I could use it to grow plants and fruits, but didn't know about FLOWERS??? THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS.

There are so many videos on adding coffee grounds to the soil but I have not found any that actually compare side by side and show results with and without the grounds. Tons of vids for those of us that can not work a poon properly. The US Dept. of Agriculture released a study that says it is a bad practice unless the grounds are added 6 months before planting, and then contribute by retaining moisture. The study shows that adding coffee stunts plant growth.

It is the caffeine that stunts the growth of seedling, not full plants.
You need to maintain the C:N ratio of 30 parts carbon to one part nitrogen.
Carbon is the leaves and such, coffee grounds is the nitrogen part.

Used coffee grounds have a slightly high acid level almost insignificant. The potassium and phosphate level is about .03 The main mineral it adds is iron. It takes years for the grounds to decompose into very small particles.

Agree with most of video but depends on stage of growth. Nitrogen needed with early growth but you don’t want to much growth when it should be producing fruit. Huge plants don’t always lead to heavy production

Agreed, ignore this one - no acid issue here. Good mineral/nutrient levels, compost them; they’ll help heat the pile and go great with leaves & woodchips (keep to small chips).
