I can see why Shelley Smith was invited several times to play Pyramid after this. She's an adept player and I always enjoy seeing her celebrate with her civilian partners in the Winner's Circle.

@@chrismc410 I believe so. Shelley Smith was one of the stars of the short-lived ABC series "The Associates" at the time (1980) and I don't think she made any guest appearances on a game show before "Pyramid". Not only was Ms. Smith an exceptional "Pyramid" player, but she had an engaging smile and seemed to have had a good sense of humor. Love the moment here at 12:45!

Tough board but then again Smith rarely met a board she could not conquer. The best player in the show's history.

    1) May 29 (the day this show aired) happens to be my sister and brother-in-law's wedding anniversary! 2) Shelley (I believe) was appearing at this time in a short-lived legal sitcom on ABC called The Associates which also starred Martin Short and the late Robert Mandan was of course playing Chester Tate on SOAP. 3) I didn't realize that Shelley's history with Pyramid went back this far. 4) J Miller, you are so right. Shelley Smith was HOT!!!!

Actually, this era of the show does still exist - this is from very late in the run, and the last two years (June 16, 1978-June 27, 1980) were saved. In the late 1990s GSN reran $20K Pyramids from June-Dec 1978, and later over the years showed a handful of shows from 1979 as one-offs. The 1980 episodes, though they exist, have never been rerun. But either way the second half of this is out there somewhere...

Could this episode be part of the 260 GSN said they had of this version back in 1997? Also, why would they have half of the last two years, but not the rest? What could have happened to half of it that caused it to be lost forever, if what GSN said is true?
