I always start with layout of furniture, then walls/ bulletins, followed by specific areas like library and centers, finally organization of supplies, centers, games, etc. This system has worked for me for several years.
Congratulations on completing your first year of teaching kindergarten. It will be my third year teaching kindergarten and my sixth year teaching. I think you should use your Trofast storage to organize your student supplies. If I had one of those that is what I would use it for.
I have the same rolling cart...the drawers fall off because you need to tighten the screws that hold the cart together. I figured this out while I wanted to replace it. Now it works great!
Love your classroom! A tip for the hot glue, put the tape on your wall first, then put your hot glue on the tape and press the poster on last. It's much easier and you won't get burned. Looking forward to more videos!
First year wanting to do this hot glue hack.. I am huge on laminating all of my print outs so they lasts. Will the hot glue warp the lamination at all?
Awesome! veteran teacher here of 28 years. I totally understand how you sit abd get your wits abiut you to figure out what to do with your classroom. When I do it, I call it " dwelling". I sit silently in the room. I imagine the students being there and how theyvwill move in the room. I think about their visibility (Can every child see the board from their seat?); accessibility ( Can the students get to thetools ans supplies they need? Is there a clear path for traffic to flow without causing bottle necks?); and distractability ( Are there any students sitting by a window, the door, the trash can or pencil sharpener that can't handle it?). I hope that helps.
I’m a 2nd year SpEd Teacher! I feel like I will return in August and be clueless as well🤣 but it’s just anxiety and overthinking things….we’ve got this!
Congrats on your first year! I LOVE my Trofasts (the 9 drawer units) and used them for supplies and manipulatives. In my drawer cart (where your community supplies were) I put differentiated materials for guided reading and centers. You’re doing amazing girl!
L9ve your videos! Suggetion lol ehat if you use the old center bin drawers and use that as your new community supply area you could even recycle your labels 😊
Excited for your classroom set up videos! Just an idea but I have some of the ikea trofast drawers in my class and I use them for student supplies. They work great and they are easy for students to access 😊
For that easel pain the metal a different color and put it by your big book bin and let the kids turn the pages for you when you read it! They will love that.
I've always said the first three years feel like you are constantly having imposter syndrome. You know more than you think! As a side note, masking tape will take paint off the wall if left up for too long. If your district is neutral on that, no worries, but if not you may want to switch out that for painters tape :)
I love desks! Once we got desk during Covid, I never went back. My teammates did but the versatility of the desks and having their individual storage is something I really like.

If you get that couch the ikea storage can hold your community supplies. It’s nice and sturdy and on their level.

Scotchgard your carpet and then stains come right up and keeps carpet looking brand new. Happy second year. 😊
So glad to see that you're back!
The ikea drawers would be perfect for your community supplies! Think they would look too cluttered on the window ledge
Your trofast shelf could replace your rolling cart for community supplies. Then bins on top of you wanted :)

Yesssss I missed your videos!! How was the first year???

Hi this was a helpful video. Where did you get the 9 drawer storage with the color words? Sorry if you mentioned in video. Thanks
Micheal’s!
How do you make your bulletin board letters?
I bought them off of etsy and just printed them on cardstock!
@@kindergartenwithkaylee Just found your vlog:) What is style of letters, etc.? Sorry if I missed it somewhere...
