I know there were layout restraints due to existing plumbing but walking into a kitchen is no bueno, even if it’s beautiful and a great size. I feel like the living area was too small and the master bathroom too big. Also, why such small niches in that massive shower?! The material choices throughout were top notch though.
Yes, thought the same! The dimensions are a bit of! The living room is quite small, the laundry room as well, also no mud room, the master too big in total, and an exess to the yard out of a common space and not though a bedroom is missing...
loling at terf being environmentally friendly. yes, it requires no water or gas mowing which is awesome. but the plastic pellets get washed away in the rain and it produces a crap ton of heat. also fascinated by the black exterior with texas summers lmao. glad there’s wood breaking it up. overall like the flip but there are a few…interesting choices haha
I just don’t get that there is no access to the yard without going through a bedroom! No BBQs with friends or kids playing within sight of the kitchen.
Wondering why the front door is not covered? What about packages or guests when Austin is getting a big rainstorm? Also, the plastic grass looks cheap and the shower is way to big! Was there a linen closet in the primary bath? Why not show the primary bedroom with a king size bed?
Agreeing on most of your points made. I always cringe when I see a quite spacious bedroom featuring a not so big bed. Why? Artificial grass does nothing for the environment, no insect life going on. Bees are desperately needed for all of us. Another point would be that there are only fixed showerheads in all the showers you showed, what about handheld showerheads, which are super practical when you have to shower or bathe children? Or you might want to take a shower but not wet your hair necessarily? And - I know this now is complaining on a high level - for really trendy, modern homes go for wall mounted toilets. Much easier to clean (no rim around the floor), and they might also need less water to flush.
I'm a reno- junkie. A follower of you guys. You always deliver, always ❤. I must say though the renovation is always beautifully made, there's a consistent thing I find lacking. I realise that you almost never consider the "entry way" as an easy clutter magnet. There's no place to leave your keys, switch shoes, leave a bag, glasses, jacket...etc . I absolutely love your work, please see this as a constructive argument.
It’s not just about saving money, it’s about making your money work for you. A house like this takes more than just discipline, smart financial decisions and investments play a huge role.
Agreed. I bought my first home after working with a financial advisor, Graham David Fullerton. He guided me through a series of investments that grew my savings significantly. It wasn’t easy, but it paid off.
I’ve worked with Graham David Fullerton as well. He’s fantastic when it comes to asset allocation. He really knows how to help you build wealth strategically.

375,000!!!! The neighbors love you so much!! Why such a big shower. Kind of a waste of space. More storage could have been made. No coat closet when you come in.
That’s what I was thinking. The big shower looks good but it’s not practical. Taking some of that to make a linen closet in the bathroom would’ve been a better use of space. Now these people have no where to keep towels, toilet paper, etc.
I love watching what you guys do. I live in Australia and I find it really interesting to note the difference in which component’s are important to you as apposed to here. We place a lot more Importance on the yard and usually a renovation would include some sort of covered outdoor area, usually off the living area, enhancing the amount of usable space. We would of used that old boat as part of the landscaping either as outdoor play equipment or maybe just planted pretty flowers in it. Of course everyone is a critic and I realise that we don’t know what your limitations are, both financial and with local council laws. Needless to say I love your clips, love what you do and congratulations on the new baby.❤
I lived in South Austin in 2008 and we loved our big outdoor living space for bon fires, music, and friend gatherings. The cute little house built in the 50s - pink tiled kitchen and all - also had a nice front lawn with a huge agave plant. I was flabbergasted, to say the least, when I returned a decade later to see they tore the house down and built a monstrosity ho-hum huge house that went all the way up to the property line! Barely any outdoor space at all. Of course, Austin's rapid growth and housing market boom resulted in high dollar for square footage, so I get it. Sad though. Very sad.
• I loved the backyard before, I imagined being a kid again and all the exploring I would do. • ditching the open floor plans in upcoming projects would be nice • adding warmth into these “homes” would be nice.
I used to love your projects but I really don't care for this one. The living space is too small but the primary bathroom could double as a ballroom! It's going to be hard to clean that expanse of shower doors too. The back yard could have been a great selling point but is so stark with a hideous view of the charred siding. I would be interested to know if the house sells for the asking price.
I just cannot wrap my head around the fact that there is not ONE hand held shower in this whole big house. How is one supposed to clean oneself without a hand held shower??? Is there a way one can attach some extension or something to solve this problem?
You're flip turned out great. I think the shower is too big for the size of the bathroom though. There could have been a nice linen closet put in there instead. Also, the turf doesn't really bother me. But, 875k for a house in a dumpy neighborhood??? People buy for location. You never want to have the most expensive house on the street. I hope you get your asking price.
I would decrease the size of hige shower & use it for more storage - sheets, towels, blankets, pillows- stuff for guests who come. Increased space for hobby supplies, like hiking, camping, etc.
It's not just about fixing up a house; it's about the sheer creativity and ingenuity involved in completely reinventing a space. I was left in awe at the end result and itching to tackle my own DIY projects.
This looks amazing. I love the new siding. The yard was so big, it just makes sense to add an addition. The interior floor plan and finishes are beautiful.
I love the makeover, but think I would not like a giant shower big enough for the whole family, I would rather like a floor to ceiling storage/ linen area and a shower. A couple trees replanted in the back yard would be nice for AZ summers and maybe a roof over the patio area. Nice choice on hardware and cabinets.
@27:01 I would have put giant sliding or French doors in place of the window on the left, or both, to give you access to the backyard and more light. It's a bad design if the only access points to the backyard is the primary suite, secondary bedroom, and going out front and through the side gate.
The house is beautiful but I definitely have some qualms about the layout: - The only Inside to backyard access is through a bedroom which is kind of weird. I think taking out the master closet to create a hallway would have worked better - Ditching the courtyard completely and swapping that for indoor space that in some way could have connected the rooms on either side of the house would have been helpful since the OG bedrooms feel like they're part of a completely different wing and having to loop the common areas to get to the other rooms is a little strange. - I think I would have swapped the living and kitchen areas for a bigger living room and a kitchen that feels more connected to the dining, but I see the reasoning for not doing that to keep the plumbing in the same area - Making the bathroom in the addition area accessible from the hall and the bedroom didn't really make sense. There's already a bathroom accessible for guests so why not commit fully to making that an on suite. - Taking out the random courtyard moment, putting the primary slider facing the backyard just feels better. Also with the courtyard you now have 2 bedrooms with doors and windows directly facing each other which doesn't feel right imo - I think taking out the courtyard and second closet in the primary would fix a lot a issues and just readjusting the space planning with that consideration (smaller bathroom, larger single closer)
Ok I sat on this for a second and realized that the reason for the strange courtyard was to give the inner original bedroom a window so I think this would have been a better idea: - Take the courtyard area and the bedroom area of the master and make that a secondary bedroom (in this scenario the addition would match the existing house instead of bumping in and you'd have your bedroom as well as a hallway going directly to the backyard + maybe a little mudroom/storage area) - Make a hallway behind the central bathroom to connect the left and right wings of the house - End the long hallway after the entrance to the new bedroom that isn't the master - Take the old secondary bedroom and make that space the master closet - Use the remaining existing master suite space as the new master bedroom/bath.
Looks absolutely beautiful. Love, love Love the materials used on the outside of the house There are just so many layout problems tho. You have to go through the kitchen to get to some bedrooms. Delivering error is actually quite small for a four bedroom house. There’s no access to the backyard without going through bedroom. You can see the primary bathroom from the hallway. The primary suite is huge and the utility room is small.
Do the comparables in the neighborhood support this level of renovation? I am not sure why the primary bath is so big, but I am perplexed over the synthetic grass!
I couldn't look away! The team's energy and passion for transforming the house were contagious, and seeing the creative ways they tackled each challenge was inspiring. It's like watching a DIY dream come true!
Nice! I have a question though. Why don't you ever put baths in these houses? For example, in this house, a bath would've been perfect in the master suite bathroom.
A lot of younger buyers would rather have a big shower than a bathtub. We have a huge bathtub in our master bath and I never use it. We are seniors and it's too hard to get in and out of, so it's pretty much just there for looks, or the next buyer that buys our house.
Yes people need a place to bathe children, dogs, cats - sometimes people whose back or muscles are hurting need to soak - heck sometimes a woman just wants a luxurious bubble bath.
You can buy little bathing tubs for children that fit inside of showers. You can wash your pets outside and you can purchase a hot tub if you enjoy frequent warm soaks. If there's a will there's a way. Most people don't bathe in tubs anymore
Do you tend to do well when your flip is the classiest property in the area? The house is sleek and grand, but that church across, the less desirable properties next to, and that corrugated something behind, are not the context it deserves.
Honestly, I love the shower walls.. but maybe a bench somewhere wouldve made more sense with it too.. also, the living area is too small. Also, I feel like leaving maybe 1-2 trees in the backyard wouldve been a good idea.. the lawn looks stange and eerie. I love the rest of the house though, but keep in mind more people are getting into gardening/nature for their homes.
I agree with all the other comments about the weird layout choices, especially the lack of direct access to the back yard. And who is going to pay $875k for a house with a one-car garage?? A small issue but one that makes a difference is not putting handles on the cabinet doors under the island. Those cabinets should have push-to-open latches so no one bashes their knees on the cabinet handles. Come on guys, you can do so much better.
I really like the siding and the matte black hardware! Modern is my favorite and I hate the gold hardware usually used in flips. This is beautiful. I even like the turf. It looks clean and kept.
Wow, it's like demolition day meets makeover madness! It really go all out and seeing the transformation unfold from total chaos to stunning renovation is unbelievably satisfying.
I hate that my potentially first comment on one of your flips is a mostly negative one, but here goes. The house was 65 years old and very small, so how was it worth $375,000? I understand the housing market is extremely over-inflated at the moment, but still. I like the contrast of the two materials on the front of the house. Why not carry that over to the back instead of all black? The kitchen is too much white. Could have done with a bit of color, even if only on the bottom of the island. No pantry. No coat closet anywhere in the house. No linen closets anywhere. I get the double shower in the master, but not using two rain heads. The shampoo nooks could have been a bit larger to accommodate more than just a bottle of shampoo and conditioner. Should have been a shower/tub combo in at least one of the other bathrooms for bathing children. I'm sorry for all the negativity, but these are things you learn with age, and living in many homes. I'm old!
You two used to be more inspired: the layout is weird: giant shower but little living room, no entrance hall. Most of all it's not for nature friendly people: the jungle is now a plastic carpet and the back garden a little nook with gravel
And that weird corridor between the old side and the new side? They said they couldn't wait to see that homeowners hanging out in that area? That's not gonna be a functional area. That plastic grass; how is that eco-friendly? It's just gonna break down add plastic to the environment as it breaks down and then it'll have to be replaced. Why didn't they just do other kinds of landscaping?
The astroturf isn't really a good idea, some multch and some native plants would have been cheaper and easier. The kitchen is way too high for the house and having the hallway come from the middle of the kitchen is kind of strange. I really appreciate you guys making homes that are not suitable for the needs of a person today however I feel with a little more consideration you could have gotten a much more refined result
I agree. The main issue is the living room which is so tiny compared to the rest of the houses layout. Maybe the staging should’ve done a better job visualizing the living room area.
The exterior looks great but I don't like the layout, it would be better if the kitchen or living room had direct access to the back garden. Perhaps having placed the sleeping areas on one side and leaving the “public” area on the other to have access to the back garden.
Dude, RUclips is really packing in those ads now - but this has to be one of the best transformations I've seen on your channel, almost makes those annoying interruptions every 2 minutes worth it! :-)
Hmm not loving it. Is the only access to the backyard through the bedrooms? And 3 bedrooms with a small living space. And no storage!! Where do you put jackets and shoes?
Not a fan at all of the plastic turf - better to leave it gravel and let homeowners decide landscaping preferences. Interior narrow hallways feel claustrophobic. Needs an entry closet. Are there linen closets for the bedrooms/bathrooms? Where is the access to the back yard - I missed that. Was that just off one of the bathrooms? I might have been more selective about tree removal. Congratulations on navigating a huge challenge.
I truly fail to understand how a house in such a dilapidated state would sell for 375,000 Dollars. 250,000 would have been more than enough for that ruin.
I love the modern facade. That was a huge success. I kindda wish the interiors reflected more of that same finish. The kitchen could have been a more modern black & wood combination as well because the shaker cabinets didn’t really echo the Architectural theme. And that Primary bath is just over the top! You could have added a freestanding tub at least.. Overall still a great transformation! ❤
I really like the shower tiles in this remodel, and the siding was lovely. That little courtyard, ugh 💘 The only thing I found surprising was how little colour you used in the living room/kitchen/dining area staging. It seemed strangely washed out compared to what you normally do. Otherwise, great job 👏 Thank you for sharing
Thank you and sorry, the design doesn't work for me. I need a big bath tub or a jacuzzi in the master suite. There's no optimization of space in the master suite bath room.
the house turned out to be very beautiful👌but it has a big disadvantage, when you enter you immediately get into the dining room and kitchen, this is not a good idea
The finishes and interiors are lovely but putting the living space on the street side is a weird choice. 🩷❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🖤🤍🤎 Congratulations to Lincoln on becoming a Dad. 🥰
Why doesn’t anyone want a bathtub anymore? I’m not even a mom, but can’t imagine trying to bath a kid or baby without a bathtub in my home. I also love a nice relaxing bath at the end of a hectic day.
since the 2nd of 3 kids, we have shower our kids. when thier babies one of us holds them in the shower and hands them out to the dry clothed parent. and the in shower parent takes a shower. so much less stressful then putting a cranky scared cold baby in a tub. detachable shower heads work wonders.
Most of the flips are fantastic, this one left me feeling, meh. Artificial turf? Zero of that old growth? Stuff I might expect in Las Vegas, but it's rather blah. The lack of access to the (artifical) yard from the primary living space and kitchen makes this home seem a bit backward. Though I'm personally losing interest in modern/contemporary design with a major minimalist bent, it's still rather pleasing but lacks character. The shower is too big. Had this been a more modest approach, adding half the sq ft sticking with a 3 bedroom allowing for easy access to the back yard for a more indoor and outdoor living experience (though I am not familiar with the climate there). Leaving some of the old growth it would have been more friendly to a small family and still provided a space that is open and modern. Can't win 'em all. But it was fun to see the transformation.
I didn’t think I would like the kitchen backsplash but after seeing the completion I love it. Sad to see that wild backyard go though. A child’s imagination could run wild in that yard.
Layout is strange, access to yard is restricted to two bedrooms unless you want to walk around the house from the front door, living room is too small imho. I actually like the siding but would love more landscaping out front… looks a little sparse.
Cool renovation overall (I love charcoal and wood together). Feedback is wanted here, right? Hope so- my eyes get bothered by kitchen cabinets that don't go all the way up to the ceiling. I would like it if they looked more customized for the room and it's size, maybe if they were proportionally larger it would help in this specific space. But maybe that's just me.
Having a bathroom that has access to the hallway and a bedroom is so weird! Plus now that bedroom has a door in a place that could have been usable wall space.
I have mixed feelings about this one! The feel of the kitchens and bathrooms is spot on and I was interested in that courtyard area but a house this big without an entrance for coats and shoes and all that, where you step right into the kitchen can't be... And the backyard access is very strange... The floorplan is an issue.
I not feeling this. 1. The home is too Pacific Northwest vibes for for Texas 2. Garage is small 3. Living room is small 4. No porch or entrance door appeal 5. Walk directly into the kitchen from the front door 6. Wasted space for the shower 7. No exit to the back yard besides from a bedroom 8 no natural curb appeal besides from green plastic years 9. The finishes are basic 10. The contrast wood color is not it
Amazing job on the reno finishes as always. Really unfortunate layout though - the living room is way too small for the size of the house, no access to the backyard from the living area. I would have sacrificed a bedroom for more living space.
Big thank you to UFP-Edge for sponsoring this episode and providing the siding for this project from their Thermally Modified Wood Collection

a clover yard would be the perfect option to keep the fresh green yard and be environmentally friendly
Are the only access points to the backyard through the master and secondary bedroom/office because that seems weird.
that's what I was thinking too. The layout isn't very good.
Their is a door off the front yard , see at 33:12
@@nirmenattya but you have to go out to the front to go to the backyard...
I just don’t get that there is no access to the yard without going through a bedroom! No BBQs with friends or kids playing within sight of the kitchen.
Can you even put a BBQ on astroturf?🤔
And the office?
And you cut all the trees on the backyard to put plastic??? wow
the garden became a polyester desert, horrible!
Why! 😢

They don't seem to like bathtubs.
@@eternalbookwyrm9481no one does. There dangerous and tacky
@@eternalbookwyrm9481 Thats true. My parents have a bathtub in their house and it never gets used.
To be frank, I was worried something was wrong because Lincoln looks so tired, now I know, it is the sleepless nights with a new baby! Congrats!

Going from that beautiful clover lawn to plastic turf is a crime 😂
Every thing else is phenomenal 😄
Beautiful job on the house, as always, but I liked the old backyard better! Just a big, empty expanse now. With plastic grass, lol.
How many years do I have to save money to buy something like this? No, really, how much does a house like this cost? And what about running costs?

BIG TUBS GUYS!!!
So many good points made here!
I agree. Most of the decisions made get a 👎 from me.
Congrats on the new baby!!!!
Dude, RUclips is really packing in those ads now - but this has to be one of the best transformations I've seen on your channel, almost makes those annoying interruptions every 2 minutes worth it! :-)
get ad block?
@@talea9593 RUclips is really cracking down on the use of Ad Blockers so I had to disable mine
Hmm not loving it. Is the only access to the backyard through the bedrooms? And 3 bedrooms with a small living space. And no storage!! Where do you put jackets and shoes?
Who needs a huge shower? Does the whole family shower together?
Luv it. I always look forward to your next upload. Keep fixin' and flippin' Austin!
Been following you for a long time! This is an amazing project!!
I truly fail to understand how a house in such a dilapidated state would sell for 375,000 Dollars. 250,000 would have been more than enough for that ruin.
Location, location, location.
I hear ya. Especially in that neighborhood. No thanks!!!
I kind of like that checkered tile, it looks classy.
I don’t know how y’all only have 277k something followers this show is amazing
God, the master bathroom is big enough for 7 people to shower at the same time. :)
"Flip" in gigantic air quotes.
Congrats, Lincoln!
Would love a yard with a few trees.
But that forest was so beautiful tho😭
Wow! very stunning transformation!
Does anyone know what it actually sold for? That seems like a tough sell at that price with housing prices now falling.
It turned out so beautiful
Well done! Curious - what flooring you use throughout the space?
It's very bad what did you do for the trees and the green grass
Lincoln said the grass is eco friendly, but plastic grass is not eco friendly.
At least they won't waste a drop of water on the yard, which is in short supply.
I think it would be nice to update the garage door. Everything else looks amazing.
I am 8 minutes in and I'm rotfl. You guys are hilarious! Entertainment and information!
the house turned out to be very beautiful👌but it has a big disadvantage, when you enter you immediately get into the dining room and kitchen, this is not a good idea
The finishes and interiors are lovely but putting the living space on the street side is a weird choice.
🩷❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🖤🤍🤎
Congratulations to Lincoln on becoming a Dad. 🥰
Love the kitchen but hate the table being right by the living room. Bathroom are nice. Hate the siding and fake grass.
Agree entirely although I think the kitchen looked white-washed and forgettable/boring - Hate that the front door opens directly into the kitchen too.
You guys are Time Travelers ,you lived a couple of months in 33 minutes ..Awesome video
Thank you!
I think it was more like a year
i like this flip but i think it would’ve been nice to keep some of the old charm as i feel like now it doesn’t fit in much with the neighborhood .
No tub in the house will always be a dealbreaker for me. Looks nice, though.
That yard is a nightmare
I didn’t think I would like the kitchen backsplash but after seeing the completion I love it. Sad to see that wild backyard go though. A child’s imagination could run wild in that yard.
Is it a renovations if the only thing that still exists is the slab? I don't think that really counts.
375k for a plat of land.
That’s not all, you get a house with your shower.
But all seriousness, house is epic, guys!
that kitchen was screaming early late 60s early 70s, reminds me of my grandparents house
Layout is strange, access to yard is restricted to two bedrooms unless you want to walk around the house from the front door, living room is too small imho. I actually like the siding but would love more landscaping out front… looks a little sparse.
The small living room is a shocker. Minimum you need space for long couch & 2 recliners - which only seats 5 or 6.
this is beautiful, its a millennial introverts dream. I would do cartwheels in that yard too btw.
Does the house stick out like a sore thumb in that neighborhood? It doesn't look like anything else around it...
That's a big shower. Great floor plan, it's all gorgeous.
I have a huge hatred for synthetic turf, awful.
The floorplan is an issue.
i have so much questions to ask...but lets keep it myself
I not feeling this.
1. The home is too Pacific Northwest vibes for for Texas
2. Garage is small
3. Living room is small
4. No porch or entrance door appeal
5. Walk directly into the kitchen from the front door
6. Wasted space for the shower
7. No exit to the back yard besides from a bedroom
8 no natural curb appeal besides from green plastic years
9. The finishes are basic
10. The contrast wood color is not it
that house is too nice for the neighbourhood :P Soooo good.
What??? You placed the washer and dryer together??? What were you thinking?? 😂 (Great work once again! 😊 )
I can't see the appeal of a shower that size. Not digging the turf.
Amazing job on the reno finishes as always. Really unfortunate layout though - the living room is way too small for the size of the house, no access to the backyard from the living area. I would have sacrificed a bedroom for more living space.
I want to see you guys remodel the RV also!!!
Great job, me personally would of love to see some pop's of color, I actually love the grass
