There's been a lot of "underboob/sternum tattoos are the new tramp stamp" crap lately. A trashy tattoo will look trashy anywhere and a quality tattoo will look good anywhere.
I call my a 'boob chandelier' and after breastfeeding 2 kids many years ago they forgot how to be perky and while the other mums contemplated nip n tucks I decorated mine and now the saggy nana boobs look sooooo good decorated
This flash situation is why I love my artists. My regular shop has "flash" type books. But they're more just the artists current drawings that can be tattooed and once they're chosen. They stick a sold on top of it saying you cannot also choose that design. I had previously stayed away from these books because I thought they were genuine flash and could be reused. I spent my whole summer last summer saving for my 3rd tattoo and spoke to my newest artist about his book. He said he doesn't recycle the designs as they're just art pieces he wants to put on someone. I couldn't be happier with it. Always ask about these things if you aren't sure.
You are such an icon. And to the person feeling bad about having smaller boobs, I have large breasts and believe me you can not win in either situation. Feeling confident in yourself and your features is so important because someone is always going to be there to try and knock you down. You're beautiful babe and no one can change that.
About the color or black and grey, when I had a hard time deciding on one of mine, I talked to my artist and he was perfectly happy to do a sample drawing both ways for me. People just need to *talk to their artist*. The artist wants you to love your tattoo and will work with you as much as they can. If you have an artist not willing to talk with you or answer questions, you need to find a new artist!
Your comments about how you like your colored tattoos because you like monotone clothing and things totally resonated with me! I'd love to one day rely mostly on my tattoos to compliment my wardrobe choices.
Thank-you for pointing out that there is no difference between female and male body hair. Everybody has hair and whether or not they choose to remove it is up to them.
Roos Rommens I have to say, i think that chest/ boob tattoos are actually nicer when you have smaller boobs (when the tattoo goes in between) because I have big boobs and underboob-tattoos for example would be covered by my boobs 🤨
Hi Katrin, Could you please do a video on tattoos that look "more fragile"? I'd really like to get a watercolor, sketch or botanical tattoo (or something similar to those styles) but I am scared of it fading very fast due to the lack of strong black lines. A kind of instructional video would be very helpful.
Hopefully she'll make a video but those really small tattoos with no outline that are full color are not long lasting and they'll probably have to be redone a lot
I wouldn't worry that a tattoo without an outline, but more if the colours and shades are too watered down? You need a strong 'base' for it to last, if that makes any sense? Could outline in pink or green for arguments sake, but as long as its a strong pigmented colour
I have several botanical tattoos and tattoos without strong black lines, as well as tattoos that are strong black lines, and the quality is no different. Fading is an issue regardless but the comparison between the two is the same/similar. But, despite my comment, I would be interest in seeing Katrin’s take on this!
aiwxo I agree. I recently saw an artist post a picture of a b&g portrait tattoo he did that had no outline from years ago. He did a now and then post and the tattoo still looked amazing.
Interestingly enough I have chosen to only get black and grey tattoos as I am a person who wears bright clothing almost every day. My outfits are always different colours (I don’t stick to one particular colour palette) and I knew that I would be constantly freaked out by the thought that my tattoos clashed with my clothes...cause I’m also someone who likes everything I wear to be coordinated 😂 Having said that I have never looked at anyone who has colour tattoos and wears bright clothing and thought it was too much, I just know what I’m like and that it would irritate me.
Angela Smith glad I’m not the only one! It took me years to have the courage to dye my hair burgundy red cause I thought it wouldn’t go with anything but it actually works.
The best part about having tattoos is being able to get away with not shaving! For instance I have a leg sleeve and sometimes in a pinch I’ll shave my blank leg and you would never tell my other leg was hairy unless you touch it! 😂
I think moisturising is more important than shaving for the tattoo to look good. I do find myself shaving my legs heaps more now to show off my tattoos tho 😋
My artist did this, I asked for an original piece so she gave me something different and then copied the same tattoo and did it a different colour on another person. I wasn't happy but not much you can do about it
Don’t get me wrong, it is doable! But personally (important! Personal opinion!) it is not going to look like the best color tattoo. A tattoo planned as a colored tattoo will always be better than a plan B color tattoo. But of course people can disagree with that. ☺️
Katrin you don't know how happy I am that you replied! ❤ thank you so much for making my day - ah right that makes sense. My sister wasn't sure whether to get colour or not and was asking me about it so the video came just in time x
I am a rainbow. I love colored tattoos & I wear bright colored clothing with patterns as well. The more colors the happier I feel. I also have orchid hair. Just be yourself & you won’t go wrong.
You are seriously my number 1 icon for tattoo advice. Your tattoos look so beautiful and i love your videos so much! Could you please please make a video talking about the after care of a fresh tattoo in detail? I want to get a tattoo later in the year and would love to hear your advice on how to take care of a tattoo your definite yes's and no's :) ^_^
Riley Shot tattoo artists always explain you everything when you get a tattoo and also before. Every master have different recommendations so I would suggest that stick with your masters advise coz they see how your skin react, how much and what to use that is the best for you and your tattoo. :)
So i was feeling pretty anxious today and I found it very relaxing and calming to watch this video. Your voice and the way you talk is very soothing. Also, great advice and great video!
The artists I know have a few “want to do” pieces in their portfolio. Usually it’s a design they’ve come up with that just doesn’t have a home yet. They would love to get them on skin. Just ask and they’ll tell you. Better if you can go to the shop and look at the designs in person though
Curtis Engel true! And a lot of the times they do it for a cheaper price (at least I’ve seen many times that they ask less for their own projects/pieces), coz it’s the idea they’re passionate about
Curtis Engel I feel uncomfortable contacting them just for that because I know they get so many emails and I might not even like any of the designs they have
I'm am apprentice tattoo artist and I have a lot "wannado's" in my book . Most people bring their own ideas so I mostly draw something new for that person. My wannado's are mostly tattoodesigns I drew up in my freetime. Drawings I enjoyed doing and drew with great passion and joy and I would never tattoo the same design on two people (unless they are friends/sisters/whatever and want me to do it). I usually post my wannado's on social media or put them on the walls in the shop for people to see. Wannado's for the win!
Love these videos! And thanks for emphasizing that people should do whatever they want (here shaving under tattoos or getting tattoos on the chest), regardless of bullshit expectations placed on them because of their gender or body shape!
A hard thing with similar designs is that they can be pretty simple in nature and hard to make individual. Or they can be something specific, like the anatomical hearts. You cant really change the design too much or it might not look like what you want, but the fact that she still put an effort in making them individual is really impressive. Especially considering how many tattoos she does of similar things
So in terms of the last question, I HAVE had my tattoo copied line for line dot for dot on another person by the same artist. It was a custom piece and although it's an image that has been done before, he drew this one specifically per my request and then copied and pasted it on someone else. I feel like this is wrong but I just don't know, since it's technically his design, can he do what he wants with it? Idk it feels shitty
I don't think it's okay at all... IF the artist wanted to use the same design again that needs to be agreed upon BEFORE you get that design on your body. All parties need to consent to this. Who knows, the other person might not even know that you have the same design, or maybe your design was tattooed on someone else first. It's just such shady business to not stick to custom work. :(
A lot of artist usually recycle or redo designs, especially if it's common imagery like flowers, skulls, or animals. Because they draw similar images all the time for other clients, they kind of have a muscle memory for how to draw certain flowers or images. This becomes clear when they can draw a design very quickly and without an eraser or many guidelines. So many of their designs will look similar enough to any of their other clients with similar tattoo images. It shouldn't matter if others have similar or the same tattoo, especially if it's very common image, like flowers, skulls, hearts, quotes, or animals. At the end of the day, if you got the tattoo you wanted, and we're happy with it, then let it be. Unless you yourself drew the image or brought the images in for the design, such as personal pictures, then you shouldn't get mad if they decide to create similar designs of common tattoos(it's their style) and when you do things enough times, most of your work will look similar due to the repetitive nature of drawing the same thing day after day. So it's not something to get mad over, just ask for original idea tattoos if this worries you.
THIS HAPPENED TO ME! I loved my artist so much, he worked with me to create a design to cover scars I had. 6 months later I go back to the shop for a new tattoo and another of his regular customers walks in with my design HUGE on the front of his neck! My heart just broke. I felt so betrayed.
it's not just the artist's design, it's your design too. Just like Katrin said, that should be decided before you get a tattoo on your body, they shouldn't be able to change up after you already have it. I'd feel awful if i found out my tattoo artist gave me someone else's tattoo.
Although this is unrelated to the actual content of the video, I wanted to let you know I think you look absolutely LOVELY! You're sort of glowing lately & have been looking better than ever...imo. With the heaps of people who feel the need to criticize & pick apart others on the Internet, I think it's important to take the time to compliment others when you notice it as well. As a side note, I'm sooo keen on, what I assume to be, the fan art drawing of you! It is both EXTREMELY well done & SUCH an accurate depiction of you! Bravo to the artist👏
I really love your advice about the small and big boob question. All body types are awesome and there are tattoo's who look awesome on one body type and one on the other. I think about getting a under boob or chestpiece, but I have average boobs and I hope I'll meet a tattoo artist who knows what will look good on my chest! But thank you Katrin. You're one of my favorite youtubers for advice video's
I have a black and grey tattoo, I wanted to add colour later, my artist and I decided to add a light/ soft/ powered colour to the background of the tattoo and it worked really well.
Anatomical tattoos are always going to look pretty similar, because that's just the nature of what any given organ looks like. Especially if you want a certain style of art or line work Plus, if you are looking at smaller pieces, you can't know if the tattoo you are looking at is flash or an original design without asking. It's possible that some of the pictures on Instagram are of flash tattoos
Have you heard of an artist stealing a client's art/idea for a tattoo? That happened to me, I was obviously open to the artist making adjustments and suggestions but when it came time to schedule the appt, he never got back to me and he had my drawing. Maybe it was my rookie mistake.. But I thought I could trust him since I grew up with the guy.
That sucks. Happened to me in another field; the owner of an internet cafe asked me to make a mock-up of a brochure that he could use for advertising. I did, and showed it to him during the next meeting. He asked to look at it more, so would I leave it with him? Then he said he'd get back to me soon but never did. Didn't pay me for the mock-up or either meeting. I saw my work a few months later at his shop - exactly as I had done it, but now officially printed. Made me realize to never leave my work with someone unless I am paid for it. Hate being that way, but I should be paid for my time.
I am a very hairy female and got my arm tattooed recently (which is covered in long dark hair). I told my artist about this (and send him pics) and I was like, I have never shaved my arm and apart from shaving in order to get this tattoo, I do not plan to ever shave it after, so this is why I'd like to get the tatoo in this part with the fewest hair. In the end, we placed it a little bit higher (partly probably because he had already shaved it and both of us kind of forgot about it) but I think it doesn't matter. Sometimes I am wondering maybe I wil shave it someday for the tattoo's sake, but ultimately I know I am too lazy to keep it up and the hair is just going to grow back in a weird unnatural pattern. And then I wonder should I shave my whole arm cuz it looks weird with only part of it shaved.. but then it would also be weird to only shave one arm... and then I"m just like no I don't feel like myself without my hairy arms. So for now I don't care, the tattoo still looks great. And it's a wolf and wolves are hairy anyway so eh. So yeah, male or female, tattooed or not. If you want to shave, shave, if you don't, don't. It's fine either way.
I have very hairy arms and I have a big tattoo on my arm and I think it looks super cool with the hair! Haha makes me love something I was super self conscious before (:
Ataraxia Azul I'm so sorry about that, have you said anything? I threatened to sued the tattoo "artist"... She also tried to copy two of my tattoos. Tried because honestly looks like crap 😁😡 I'm usually very chill but come on, right? ......
Luna P Confronted the fucker and he told me everything I do at the shop belongs to them (yeah right, could've asked, could've given credit). Tried to expose him on instagram and got blocked. He told the shops in the area that it was the other way around (That I was tattooing shop designs outside of the shop, supposedly). I was called a scratcher and a thief by people I admired for the lies of the man I chose to teach me. It was disgusting. I'm trying to move on, get money together again to pay for a new appreticeship in another studio that hopefully won't take the bullshit. Some say I should tattoo to get the money faster, but I don't like the idea of tattooing outside a shop. So yep, that was a rough start for me.
I would just like to say that I 100% recommend Bettyzootattoo as a tattoo artist. I also noticed that a lot of her designs were similar, but I booked with her anyway, and I was certainly not disappointed! She has a clear style, and as @katrinberndt says, I think that's why the same image or design seems to pop up once I a while - that's what she is known for!
after reading your 'disclaimer' in the comments I completely agree. this is an old video of yours I stumbled upon but a black and grey FINISHED piece will be different then a black and grey piece that also has room to be filled in/shaded with color!
I have a full sleeve and chest piece that is black and grey only. I have been told that if you’ve very sensitive skin or many allergies, it is safer to get black and grey because you don’t react to it. Color is fine too, but be especially careful with the color red. Now, my artists said you shouldn’t react to color BUT they also said black and grey is a way safer choice if you are very sensitive because they are not completely sure. And to be honest, when it comes to something that will be on my body forever, I rather go with the safest one. And I am loving every tattoo. The only one I wish I could change a bit is the one I got when I was 18. I really believe you shouldn’t get tattoos too quickly just because you have the age because I grew apart from that tattoo pretty fast. But only that one. It’s my name in a heart. It feels super corny. 😂 And the chinese letters. But it was super popular back then. But the thing is, they stay on your body. 😋 Jag kunde skrivit det här på svenska, jag är svensk. Men jag föredrar engelska plus att alla förstår, vem vet, kanske hjälper det någon. You rock Katrin!
The last question seems strange to me. As in, an anatomical heart can only be changed so much. It's a heart, you know, it looks the same, so the difference can only come from flourishes or designs that the artist added, like shading or something. Otherwise a heart is a heart. Same goes for bunches of flowers, flowers will look the same or similar, but the arrangement of the flowers was obviously different for every tattoo. A cornflower will always look like a cornflower, there's not much an artist can do about that, besides like, petal placement, but even then, you can't completely change the flower to look like a different flower.
My tattoo has really helped me love and appreciate that part of my body more every time I see it I focus on the art that I love rather than the flaws I used to be fixed on
All the tattoos the last woman does are so simple and in such a specific style that the can’t really be that different. Like if three people come in and ask for a spring of lavender she can only make them look so different from each other
Ahh love this video! Could you please do a watch collection video? The ones in the background on your vanity are so pretty! Love all the way from New Zealand
The first tattoos I got were on the top of my feet and I got them both done at the same time. I’m so happy I did it because almost anything else I get will be less painful than that. I wouldn’t get a tattoo in an extremely painful spot (knee, sternum, elbow) unless I REALLY wanted it. I’m not a glutton for pain, so the design would have to really be worth it in certain cases.
Not every tattoo artist uses flashes multiple times. The artist I'm going to always removes the flash when it's used. She might draw up some similar designs but never the exact same. Wich I think is really nice! Thank you for the video!
I would probably feel the same way for me personally, but I still stand by that they are not copies and if you go to an artist with a very "minimalistic" single needle style, then you kinda get what you ask for. :)
I don't find all of them too similar, but the anatomical hearts ... There's maybe one coronary branch and one shading different and that's it. I know that a heart has not that much variety, yet the coronaries take a little different route, you can vary the big vessels since they're dissected anyway, and okay I have so much coming up in my mind I have no comprehension for that similarity when it comes to these hearts ...
I have bright colored tattoos and wear a lot of bright colored clothes. I find that patterns are the hardest to match to my tattoos, especially floral patterns, but sometimes I'll find something that works that doesn't leave me dizzy looking in the mirror.
This is a old video I know. But want comment anyway. Artists that I know here in my country do not ever do flash tattoos again on anyone. When they are sold they are sold to that person that buys it. My trusty artist always says in posts that the flash is available if it is. After it is sold she labels it as ”reserved” and it she will not do it to another person. Ecxept if the reserver cancels the appointment all together before tattooing then it can be sold to the next in line though it rarely happens. So not one flash is put on two people ever. I respect this policy to the roof. These artists are hardworking and do not make easy money by ”copying” their own art but make even flashes personal to each costumer 🖤
I am always so torn about one of my tattoos. It is a simple, outline drawing of an otter. On one hand, I love the simplicity of it. On the other hand, I kind of want to try to get it shaded to look realistic. It's a constant struggle.
Sarah Hopper The thing is that I already have it. It's currently a simple outline. I'm not sure if I want to change it. I don't dislike it but people insult it all the time and as much as I'd like to say I don't care it gets frustrating.
On the topic of flash tattoos, a lot of my favourite artists remove designs they’ve used from the sheet. Sort of like first-in-best-dressed. So while that artist is reproducing work similar t past pieces, I think her flash work is just sticking to her style and adjusting and altering work she knows is popular among her clients.
I totally think that adding colors to a black tattoo is possible..... though it won't be changed to a color tattoo but rather in a black tattoo with a color lighting... a bit if I can use the comparison of a scarab shell, basicaly black but under light you can see some golden or green reflects. I I were to add colors to my tattoo it would be only underlines, light shades to add depth on it... or something like that (if that makes sense). Also something to be careful about is the aging.... an "old" black tattoo will fade with time and adding fresh color to it could break the whole thing with a strong contrast (of course, you add 10 more years, colors will fade aswell, but are you ready to wait 10 more years to get a perfecly blended back/color tattoo?) About copying..... let's take music artists or painter artists.... they all have a style, everything is different but you see the same patern in it. It's just the technics of the artists or how I call it "the paw of the artist". Of course simple tattoos will mostly look similar even if different, in nature a wheat head is a wheat head... all different but all similar. And even with flash the shading will never be the same and you can alsways ask to use a flash base and modify it to your liking
LaliGirl It definitely does! I've seen tattoos where someone accidentally passed on it with a laser hair removal machine, and it caused the ink the spread and completely disappear in some places. The laser targets pigment - it's picking up the colour of your hair follicle under your skin, but it will still target the pigment in your tattoos. You can do laser hair removal around your tattoos, and do research about "electrolyses" for your tattooed areas. Hope this helped :)
I do enjoy your videos and honest opinions on a lot of different topics. I am definitely going to be getting more tattoos in the future and I was wondering could you do a video on how to save up money for a tattoo that is really expensive?
Hey katrin! Great video! About the question asking if the tattoo artist is copying de designs and using it on another clients, I also think that is normal that the desings look similar. When a tattoo artists develops it’s own style and it’s used to draw in a certain way, that kind of becomes it’s own trademark. That’s way sometimes we see a tattoo and recognize the artist who made it. There are tattoo artist that “repeat” all the time a certain element. Like, always drawing cats, always drawing plant in a certain way.. but I disagree with you when you say flash tattoos can be repeated. I’m a beginner tattoo artists and yes, some people work like that, but at least here in brazil the tattoo artist that i know and are concerned about the originality of their work don’t use do repeat designs. I make flash designs, wich are the designs I would like to work with, they are usually less expensive because they are premade and the way I want them and I don’t repeat the designs. I can make similar drawings after but not the same. I guess that changes from one country to another. Is it common there for artist to have available designs on a flash sheet that they would repeat?
Thamara Prada Hi! I know you didn't ask me, but I just wanted to give my experience. I'm in the US and at least in my area the flash designs are repeated on multiple customers. You can go in a shop, look at the flash on the wall and pick one, then another person can come in and pick the exact same thing and the artist will tattoo the exact same design. You are told when you pick something off of a flash sheet that this will happen. That's why I never pick designs from flash, I don't want the same tattoo as a bunch of other people. I think flash here is to show what kind of style the artist has/for people who spontaneously decide to get a tattoo and don't have a design already in mind. Also most flash here will be small pieces that don't take that long to do and usually cost around the shop minimum. I would be interested to hear from others in the US and other countries about this!
My brother in law didn't want to copy a tattoo but liked the concept of the bear that turns into mountains, what he did was go to the tattoo artist with the concept and put his own twist on it, instead of generic with trees he eventually got an outline of a bear with a landscape of Odense which is where he's from in the foreground and the mountains on faroe in the background which is where they used to go on holiday
Hey, just came across your videos and have been almost binging them, really like them. I just got my first tattoo the other day, it was a flash day at this tattoo place/parlour/office (dont know the correct word in english sorry), but I think Flash is a little different there than what you just described. At least there, as soon as you decide on a tattoo and reserve them, they cant be tattood on a another person, it is a custom job, kind off. That is at least what they told me.
My tattoo artists (I have a few depending on what style of piece it is) constantly ask me and my friends if they can do a certain style that they want to practice or do more of. Most of the time they’ll give you a discount on the price because it’s their idea, and they want to do it.. I’m just their canvas.
Or just get two different custom temporary tattoos, one in black and gray and then other in color. They are fairly cheap and we'll done depending on the company. You can see what each will look like for at least 2 weeks.
Definitely not agree, we do flash days in our studio, never have we tattooed the same design twice. When we are talking about for example old school sailor jerry designs yes, artist tattoo it multiple times some change something some don’t, but it is completely different situation, when you look at modern day tattoos it’s shameful to do the same tattoo more than once.
Okay but it’s very common for shops to have flash sheets. So it great that you don’t but you can’t say that it never happens just ‘cause your shop doesn’t 😅
I love your tattoo advice 💙😄! I Just posted my tattoo horror stories with pictures while I play the sims, if anyone wants to see the awful choices I've made & the cover ups I've had to get. 😂✌
No she is not. She used the same photo for both drawings. I recently noticed several tattoos in tattoo magazines that looked like mine and when i found the photograph my artist had used as a reference, it all became clear.
I asked my tattooist if he would concider using me as a practice dummy for his original designs and he was all in I'd even get a discount meaning he's only gonna make me pay for supplys. They love the idea of tattooing there own designs on people 😍😊
Hi! I wanted to ask (I'll ask again on Instagram when you post for questions if you prefer!) about what is the best way to go about building up a piece from a flash design? I had gotten a flash design done on my thigh, and had the artist make it a bit unique to me. I'm now at a point where I want to build it up into a whole piece so it's not just a floating design, but do you think this would be weird for the artist? And is there a best way to go about incorporating it? Thank you so much! I love your videos ❤
I know here in France most of the tattoo artists I know do flash tattoos but it doesn't mean because it hasn't been designed for you that it might get tattooed on someone else. Flashs are more like designs that tattoo artists drawn for no one in particular but is an original in a way that it can only be tattooed once. I dont' know if this makes any sense at all ahah
I got my tattoo outlined but no colour or shading. I still havent decided if I wanna do anything more yet 😅 so its always an option to not finish it right away.
Yeah, I said that when filming but think I edited it away. ^^ I would just recommend to everyone from my personal opinion, to decide before starting the tattoo. But there are of course ways around it.
I have a question! This summer I’ve been working with a girl who has a tattoo that says “serendipity”. I had never heard the word before but it’s definition and meaning is something that for sure has played a big part of my life. I would LOVE to tattoo “serendipity” as well but I’m afraid it would be weird since I’m basically copying her tattoo idea. Any opinions?
A word cannot be copied. She does not own it and it was not created for her. Might it get awkward while you're working with her? Yes hahah... but if you're not going to be working with her after this summer then it's not a problem. If she wrote the word in a special custom script font you should of course not trace it, but you are free to get the same word tattooed. :)
Ayee B come up with something original for yourself if u have the same same thing as her then you might just spoil the tattoo for her cus it's not longer special to her in your group
Haha yeah Serendipity is probably as common as Wanderlust or Carpe Diem ^^ Doesn't mean you shouldn't get it! I just mean it's not copying and it's not really "unique" to any one person. :)
Katrin Berndt Yes I know and I agree! I know that the word is pretty common but that doesn’t bother me, it’s just that I got the idea from someone I know that feels a little weird. We probably won’t see each other after the summer ends but I’m worried it would feel wrong for me either way. LOVE the idea though and I really want to get it... It’s just so hard to personalize a word.
great video and comment about your artist, there's only so many ways you can draw an anatomical heart...that's how they're made, it's not a copy at all
There's been a lot of "underboob/sternum tattoos are the new tramp stamp" crap lately. A trashy tattoo will look trashy anywhere and a quality tattoo will look good anywhere.
Haha I have completely missed that stuff. I agree with you! Good tattoos are good tattoos, no matter where you place them.
I call my a 'boob chandelier' and after breastfeeding 2 kids many years ago they forgot how to be perky and while the other mums contemplated nip n tucks I decorated mine and now the saggy nana boobs look sooooo good decorated
Tattoo shaming is the calling card of a person with a stick up their @$$.
This flash situation is why I love my artists. My regular shop has "flash" type books. But they're more just the artists current drawings that can be tattooed and once they're chosen. Your comments about how you like your colored tattoos because you like monotone clothing and things totally resonated with me! I'd love to one day rely mostly on my tattoos to compliment my wardrobe choices.
Could you do a video on blowouts? And white ink tattoo?
Purple Dawn could you add in some advice on water colour tattoos aswell?
Thank-you for pointing out that there is no difference between female and male body hair. Everybody has hair and whether or not they choose to remove it is up to them.
A girl I know has a huge tattoo all over her chest and she's flat chested. I think it looks AMAZING. It compiments her shape so much. Love it!
Roos Rommens I have to say, i think that chest/ boob tattoos are actually nicer when you have smaller boobs (when the tattoo goes in between) because I have big boobs and underboob-tattoos for example would be covered by my boobs 🤨
Hi Katrin,
Could you please do a video on tattoos that look "more fragile"? I'd really like to get a watercolor, sketch or botanical tattoo (or something similar to those styles) but I am scared of it fading very fast due to the lack of strong black lines. A kind of instructional video would be very helpful.
Hannah N. Yes! Pleasee!!
"And her face is all smooshed" hahahahaha oh the giggles on that one.
Interestingly enough I have chosen to only get black and grey tattoos as I am a person who wears bright clothing almost every day. My outfits are always different colours (I don’t stick to one particular colour palette) and I knew that I would be constantly freaked out by the thought that my tattoos clashed with my clothes...cause I’m also someone who likes everything I wear to be coordinated 😂
Having said that I have never looked at anyone who has colour tattoos and wears bright clothing and thought it was too much, I just know what I’m like and that it would irritate me.
Ellen RdeC same, and thats also why i wont color my hair, cuz i know I couldn’t deal with it not matching
hi look ruclips.net/video/bjdZm_eY-dE/видео.html
Angela Smith glad I’m not the only one! It took me years to have the courage to dye my hair burgundy red cause I thought it wouldn’t go with anything but it actually works.
The best part about having tattoos is being able to get away with not shaving! For instance I have a leg sleeve and sometimes in a pinch I’ll shave my blank leg and you would never tell my other leg was hairy unless you touch it! 😂
Cassie O i love how you call your leg blank haha. definitely a perk!
Never realized that your chest piece had a beatle . Always just thought it was a cool design on her head.
Beautiful!
I think moisturising is more important than shaving for the tattoo to look good. I do find myself shaving my legs heaps more now to show off my tattoos tho 😋
My artist did this, I asked for an original piece so she gave me something different and then copied the same tattoo and did it a different colour on another person. I wasn't happy but not much you can do about it
That drawing behind you is so Good! Interesting to hear about adding colour to black and grey as I thought you could do that
Don’t get me wrong, it is doable!
Exactly! Agree :)
I love your response about whether to shave the tattoo or not regardless of gender 👍💕
I'm lazy and it amuses me that my leg octopus is hairy because that's a weird concept.
i have a hairy leg octopus as well!
Hah!
I have a hairy leg snail, and that amuses me as well! Shaving is overrated haha
My bat has fur
I have a fly on my shin. It’s very realistic and has hairs in the design and then my leg hair 🙈
This was my favorite personal tattoo advice episode in the series! Love you, Katrin!
hi ruclips.net/video/bjdZm_eY-dE/видео.html
Although this is unrelated to the actual content of the video, I wanted to let you know I think you look absolutely LOVELY! You're sort of glowing lately & have been looking better than ever...imo. With the heaps of people who feel the need to criticize & pick apart others on the Internet, I think it's important to take the time to compliment others when you notice it as well.
As a side note, I'm sooo keen on, what I assume to be, the fan art drawing of you! It is both EXTREMELY well done & SUCH an accurate depiction of you! Bravo to the artist👏
Thank you so much!
Which drawing do you mean? The one in the background? Yeah, that's by one of my viewers! I love it! :D
YES! The drawing in the background with you in a yellow top...sooo incredible!
Every time I see your Mick Mars tattoo I smile so hard bc he’s an amazing guitarist and I’m so happy that he’s represented
I don't have any tattoos yet, only piercings. Thanks for all the advice. And btw, you're gorgeous!
Wow just realized how fast your hair grew 😍
Your hair must grow super fast! It is so long already, give your hair to me 😂👌🏻
I really love your advice about the small and big boob question.
Especially if you want a certain style of art or line work
Plus, if you are looking at smaller pieces, you can't know if the tattoo you are looking at is flash or an original design without asking.
I'm an artist myself (illustrator), I did the design of my own tattoo and I caught the bi.. promoting my damn design as "available for tattooing" 😡
Luna P I'm an illustrator and an apprentice and caught my "mentor" advertising my designs as ready to tattoo by him :(
Ataraxia Azul I'm so sorry about that, have you said anything? I threatened to sued the tattoo "artist"...
She also tried to copy two of my tattoos. Tried because honestly looks like crap 😁😡
I'm usually very chill but come on, right?
Ataraxia Azul that's so awful, I'm sorry that happened 😔
@@ay_azulita wtf you have to pay to have an apprenticeship? I'm already eight months in and I've never paid a penny. Where are you from?
The tattoo artist I am going to, always put some of their own ideas into the tattoos, so nomatter what, the tattoo will always be unique.
Women and men come in all sizes and shapes ♥️✨
I would just like to say that I 100% recommend Bettyzootattoo as a tattoo artist. I also noticed that a lot of her designs were similar, but I booked with her anyway, and I was certainly not disappointed! She has a clear style, and as @katrinberndt says, I think that's why the same image or design seems to pop up once I a while - that's what she is known for!
I have an underboob tattoo and I’ve got no boobs at all. And is awesome. So insecure girl, get that tattoo, you’ll feel awesome!!
after reading your 'disclaimer' in the comments I completely agree. this is an old video of yours I stumbled upon but a black and grey FINISHED piece will be different then a black and grey piece that also has room to be filled in/shaded with color!
Anneke Oosterink it seemed strange to me? several artists also have flash? like little designs you can look at and get?
Can you talk about blowouts? Do you have any? How to deal with them even if your artist is reputable
Heather Bornstein personally I think solid outlines is the way to prevent them. If it has thin or no line work it will blow out
Just what i needed to watch before I get another piece 👏🏻🐝
My tattoo has really helped me love and appreciate that part of my body more every time I see it I focus on the art that I love rather than the flaws I used to be fixed on
love your channel always great content! you are stunning.
10:12 cracked me up so much, haha love ya
I loved your comment on body hair! Thank you for that 😍
All the tattoos the last woman does are so simple and in such a specific style that the can’t really be that different. Like if three people come in and ask for a spring of lavender she can only make them look so different from each other
Ahh love this video! Could you please do a watch collection video? The ones in the background on your vanity are so pretty!
Love all the way from New Zealand
Lisa Zhang i think she's already done that
Thank you so much for talking about my question ❤️
I could see maybe with the anatomical hearts like the ones in the thumbnail but everything else were actually fairly different IMO
Thank you so much for your honest opinions and your very real perspective!!! 💖
I love the way you answer questions! You have such good insight, and I really appreciate this video!
Not every tattoo artist uses flashes multiple times. The artist I'm going to always removes the flash when it's used. She might draw up some similar designs but never the exact same. Wich I think is really nice! Thank you for the video!
"Tattoo Factory" looks like a band name.
10:11 I had to laugh at how the tattoo's face looked when you did that, haha
My opinion on the last question, they are too similar for comfort.
💚 I just found your channel and this is my third video. I wanted to say, as a tattooer, I appreciate your content and this is great information.
Thank you so much!
Such an interesting video! Ps. Your hair looks amazing! Love from Finland 🤗
I have bright colored tattoos and wear a lot of bright colored clothes. I find that patterns are the hardest to match to my tattoos, especially floral patterns, but sometimes I'll find something that works that doesn't leave me dizzy looking in the mirror.
Perfect timing on this video, getting a tattoo next week in NYC. 😁
The bit about the “fucked up face” got me. LOL
I am always so torn about one of my tattoos. It is a simple, outline drawing of an otter. On one hand, I love the simplicity of it. On the other hand, I kind of want to try to get it shaded to look realistic. It's a constant struggle.
Melissa Stephan it could depend on where you get it and how big you want it to be. And I mean you could both haha.
Sarah Hopper The thing is that I already have it. It's currently a simple outline. I'm not sure if I want to change it. I don't dislike it but people insult it all the time and as much as I'd like to say I don't care it gets frustrating.
Oh sorry I miss read that. I wouldn't worry about other peoples opinions.
Katrin you’re always so helpful.
I really enjoyed this video Katrin. :) Great questions and answers. :)
I LOVE watching your videos. You're great, Katrin. Never stop being yourself :)
Also something to be careful about is the aging.... an "old" black tattoo will fade with time and adding fresh color to it could break the whole thing with a strong contrast (of course, you add 10 more years, colors will fade aswell, but are you ready to wait 10 more years to get a perfecly blended back/color tattoo?)
About copying..... let's take music artists or painter artists.... they all have a style, everything is different but you see the same patern in it.
Does lazor hair removal effect tattoos?
Superb video. Your messages are really usefull ! Thank you Kat for all content you create :3
Can you make a video of all the people/artists who have copied your tattoos, especially that chest piece
Haha I have made a few 😅
Katrin Berndt oops that is true lmao, just wondering for any updates etc
My tattoo artists (I have a few depending on what style of piece it is) constantly ask me and my friends if they can do a certain style that they want to practice or do more of. Most of the time they’ll give you a discount on the price because it’s their idea, and they want to do it..
I’m just their canvas.
Thank you so much Kat! ⚘
Omg that factory analogy 😂😂😂
Whoa, your hair grew super fast.
hi look ruclips.net/video/bjdZm_eY-dE/видео.html
I'm really great friends with both of my tattoo artists. 🤗
youre so gorgeous ♥♥
I know here in France most of the tattoo artists I know do flash tattoos but it doesn't mean because it hasn't been designed for you that it might get tattooed on someone else. Flashs are more like designs that tattoo artists drawn for no one in particular but is an original in a way that it can only be tattooed once. I dont' know if this makes any sense at all ahah
Yeah I understand. But flash can also be a book of designs that you can point at and get regardless of how many times it’s been tattooed before. :)
So beautiful
God i love women with beautiful tattoos like yours, my ex's were gorgeous aswell. Could never be a girl without any.
Hearts can be a copy the heart didn’t create a heart and seems to just be her style
Serendipity is a word that many people have tatooed, so it's not copying, it's just a word. Personalize it with placement and font?
I love that pic of you hanging on the wall! Did someone draw it ?
Yes! A follower made that ☺️
great video and comment about your artist, there's only so many ways you can draw an anatomical heart...that's how they're made, it's not a copy at all
I couldn't agree more
