  • JUST IN || China Coast Guard ship intentionally rams BRP Teresa Magbanua in Escoda Shoal
A Philippine Coast Guard vessel anchored in Escoda (also Sabina) Shoal was rammed three times by a China Coast Guard (CCG) ship on Saturday afternoon.
The BRP Teresa Magbanua has been stationed in Escoda Shoal for months.
"This afternoon, the Chinese Coast Guard vessel deliberately rammed and collided with the BRP Teresa Magbanua three times, despite no provocation from the Philippine Coast Guard," PCG spokesperson for the National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea, Commodore Jay Tarriela, said in a post on his X account.
This is the latest incident in August where China has harassed PCG and civilian vessels conducting humanitarian missions in the West Philippine Sea.
Last Monday, China blocked two PCG vessels during a resupply mission to deliver essential items to the BRP Teresa Magbanua. On Sunday, China also rammed two PCG vessels while they were on their way to Patag and Lawak Islands, where Philippine troops are stationed. - Gerald Ticke
