Thanks, my problem was the fuse gone out of place, and the writing on my fuse box is gone so i was confused whether there is a fuse or not for the heater
I have an '88 e28 with some kind of problem with the heater temp. control knob. It usually clicks when turned to the warmer temps and now it doesn't seem to be engaging the heater. Everything has been checked under the hood with new hoses and even a new expansion tank. The heat was coming out intermittently at first, and now it doesn't seem to be activating the switch. I need to troubleshoot this on my own as I don't trust the average mechanic to diagnose it honestly and properly. Can you help me out? Thank you for your time in advance.
Are you saying there is air blowing in but the air is cold even though the switch is set to hot? Or when you switch to hot there is no air blowing? If it is the former, the switch is not moving the flaps to allow heat in. There is a vacuum hose running from the interior to the exterior near the driver dash. That vacuum line and interior air temp sensor could be the problem. Check that. If your problem is the latter, you have the same issue as this e28 in my video. My e28 needs a replacement fan motor for the heat. It is located behind the engine, in the fire wall. One of these days when I get the time I plan on doing a video on replacing that motor. There are two motors for e28. The one in front of the shifter is the blower motor for the A/C. The blower motor for the heat is in the fire wall. If you have air blowing at cold select but not hot, it's the motor in the firewall. If you have air blowing when hot but not when cold is selected, it's the motor in front of the shifter. If your selector allows air to blow at any temperature selected but the air coming into the cabin, check the vacuum hose in the dash going from the interior to the engine. I never show where that is in my video, but surely someone else online will show you the hose I'm talking about that is your issue. Good luck, buddy! It's gonna be a cold winter and you need some heat.
@@HollywoodHornet, I agree with your assessment of the vacuum line issue. I was suspect of this but I needed a second opinion. I will go in and check both. I am familiar with the fan motor issue as I have a schematic. BTW, there was hot air coming from the heater even when the fan is not engaged. I feel confident that I will solve the problem. Thanks so much for your input. I'll keep you posted.
I'm going to buy a 83 533i which never had A/C. Do you know if anyone makes a kit to install A/C? I would imagine it might be a heck of a lot of work. The seller put the larger 3.4 motor in it or is a 3.5 maybe.
Oof. That sounds like it's gonna be a royal pain in the ass. More trouble than it's worth even. I don't know of any kits, but if you go that route, shoot a video and share it. I'd love to see how that goes.

@@HollywoodHornet Thanks I think I'll just go without the air. Thank you for getting back to me.
