I am sorry and embarrassed!! I asked a whole slew of questions about the machine in another of your posts and all I had to do was spend literally one minute looking at your stuff!
Very cool sir!
You are a gentleman and a scholar!
No worries!
Your a King 👑 playa good looking out appreciate the information.
Knowledge is power.
I appreciate that!
Excellent work, great video and simple instructions love the work stay safe
Thanks, you too!
Excellent work , straight to the point and simple instructions. In other words stupid free
Thanks Jay
putting my first maker's mark on a knife tomorrow and this was extremely helpful. Kudos!
Love it
This is a great tutorial! The materials are simple and easy to source. I wish this was around last year when I did the exact same thing, etching a tuna onto my hand-forged santoku knife. In order to make it appear as if the tuna was underwater, I made a hamon first near the spine during heat treating. This is a quick and easy way to add customization and value to your work.
Thank you !!! really appreciate you taking the time to give feedback
Awesome! This is amazing, thank you!!
You're very welcome!
Thats badass, thank you
Thanks Randy
I'm gonna do it. Thanks!!
As ever exceptional content and summarisation am in process of purchasing a vinyl cutter just curiosity what vinyl is best suited for this purpose ,oh and thoroughly enjoyed the book ,thank you and I would appreciate if you thanked mr north guard as well
Is the battery outputting AC or DC? from what I read DC etches, AC blackens. Yours looks like both.
What electrolyte would you use on an axe head? Thanks for the tutorial
Warm water and salt or even better white wine vinegar and salt
What is on the top of your electro etching plate?
Its just a small pc of steel tube welded onto a flat plate. The tube serves as a handle and place to drill and tap hole to secure wire lead.
How did you get the small pieces to stick good, mine keep tearing off
Clean the blade with alcohol and dry well. Use a good self adhesive vinyl. I like Styletech. When you are etching only etch for max of 20 seconds at a time and let it cool, so you do not build up to much heat.
Do you use the regular or permanent vinyl sheet? What design software do you use? Thanks!
I use the software that cam with the silhouette cameo to cut the vinyl. I use corel draw to create the art
Is there a way to ech copper or brass like that ?
Electro etching is basically controlled corrosion. So it will not work well on brass or copper
@@DIYeasycrafts thanks for the tip man
Do you use an old or new battery charger for this? I have heard that some of the newer ones "know" whether they are connected to a battery or not and will refuse to send power if they are not.
Good point I have an old or "Dumb" charger, newer model might not work but the etching should work with any similar power supply.
@@DIYeasycrafts This is the problem I've run into with everyones tutorial on this. Use a battery charger that you won't be able to find anymore.
I wonder if this is why I have been unable to get this to work. :/ I've been attempting to mark my tools for months now. I just bought a $30 set of steel stamps to try hammering into my tools yesterday....
