    Paul Elias and Rick Clunn , My favorite people on the circuit , and on this earth..They bring a spiritual part into fishing that is infectious. (The Zone). I feel that once in awhile , when the stars and moon align ,and the fish spirit talks to you.

      So 'The Good Lord', ..the catch and release tablet, being the only fish in the live- well, and the ice to keep the water cooler kept the fish alive and Elias wins by 4 oz' s. (But it's the Lord that get' s the credit!) I guess Satan was just messin with the guy who lost by 4 oz' s. I guess delusional people can also be great bass fisherman. (I'm an Athiest and have won many fishing tournaments covering several species. God turned a 'deaf ear' to the 'spirituals' fishing against me. Oh, that's right, ...he works in mysterious ways! Not taking anything away from Elias, ..If he thinks ..'God did it', ..he thinks 'God did it', how can anyone possibly take that away from him? He's just wrong. Elias 'did it' himself.

      imacoop It does rain for sinners AND saints. But the saints give thanks, and like this video.
      Could you imagine if only Christians were successful? And only Christians had jobs or were the only ones with money? What would happen? It's easy. Everyone would be scrambling to the alter for their share of The Fish.

    • @imacoop588
      @imacoop588 8 лет назад

      Jim- And that is a problem ...How? (Rhetorical question) It would take 'faith' away as a requirement for belief. Faith is not a desirable virtue, ..it is literally exactly the same as gullibility. So you think there really is a God who looked down upon Elias and decided he is the one that should win this tournament, ...while at the same time, ..looks down on the 9 million children who die each year before the age of 5, and thought that Elias winning this tournament was more important than the multitude of prayers over these dying children? Which would you choose as a higher priority? Feel free, if you like, to give the good Lord credit for saving the bass' life. I'm just going to leave it at that.

      imacoop, its funny, I've read 100's/100's of "comparison comments" like yours so ppl will then see disparity between the innocence of one as compared to another; but never once have I read someone such as you, bring up the "innocence" of the sinless Son of God. The Bible says that God was "pleased to crush Him" / "put Him to grief" / to allow the "anguish of His soul"...why don't you recognize THIS horrible suffering of innocence that God allowed?
      He was beaten beyond recognition "so that we esteemed Him not, spit on, wounded, bruised, pierced for our sins, on/on..Isaiah 53...yet He was "sinless/innocent." Today we have in our possession 25k+ extant [existing/in our possession], Biblical ancient manuscripts, and thats of just the New Testament alone. Thats 4x's more than ANY known piece of ancient literature thats been verified by scholars [Christian and NON-Christian]. Of the next closest theres only 643 and thats Homers Iliad [8th c poem set during the Trojan war]. If you want to know where todays Bible came from: ruclips.net/video/jPhzjMOboQI/видео.html You say you're an atheist...thats sad b/c theres so much information on Jesus Christ that you're just ignoring. Aside from that, I think of ppl like Socrates who taught for 40 years, Plato taught for 50 years, and Aristotle taught for 40 years. Jesus, He taught for less than 3 years, yet the influence of the 3 years of Jesus' ministry far outstrips the combined 130 years of the 3 greatest philosophers of all antiquity. Jesus never painted a picture, yet some of the finest paintings of Raphael, Michelangelo, da Vinci, and many other artists found in Him their inspiration. Jesus wrote no poetry, but Dante, Milton, and scores of the world's greatest poets have been inspired by Him as by no other. Jesus wrote no music yet Haydn, Handel, Beethoven, Bach, and Mendelssohn, and myriad others reached the highest perfection of melody and the sweetest sounds in compositions about Him. imacoop, you're an atheist only b/c you want to be one, not b/c you need to be one. IF you want to know some facts that ppl typically avoid, I'd be happy to share them with you. God Bless.

Then I ran into Paul and I forgot all about my bad day! I said "What the hell you doing around here" Paul said trying to get back on the highway! I said it's right there. He's using braided line for its strength, but it's dark and the fish can see it, causing less bites. So he used a monofilament leader tied to his bait because fish can't see mono. The leader is for clarity, not strength.

    I would also like to hear him describe what he was fishing. I know it was on a point but what was on that point and how deep was it. I fished Falcon after it's prime and did see a DD in our trip that place is unreal. It's to bad that the drug runners have ruined it.

    Hey Brother. That was 1 in a lifetime experience with this awesome record breaking few days especially the last! Congratulations! I dream of fish like that. ????? I noticed that you don't use the drag. You free spool with your thumb on it creating your own "drag". Does that help? Please lmk why and the why and how you do it? Only one who I've seen yet using this method? Congratulations again man, can't even imagine the feelings in the heat of the moment. I would have had to dry land and run around screaming looking like an idiot!!!😂

    • @andywilliamson7846
      @andywilliamson7846 Год назад

      I know this is video is old, but it's the first time I've seen it. I believe the main reason why I and other people use the free spool and thumb method to act as "drag" is because, often we have our drag cranked down to almost maximum, in order to get a solid hookset without slippage. Then, being cautious of a big fish running on us, we simply hit the spool release thumb bar/button which is much quicker than trying to back off several turns of a star drag that is tightened down to the max. We must use caution, though, as to not burn our thumbs (which rarely happens).
