The biggest difference for me in my 30s vs 20s is using products and techniques that work for ME! Rather than going on trends and keeping with them even though it doesn't look good on me *cough* baking *cough*
Man... I thought you were going to be using old school products like you used to. I think we would all love to see you use Bare Minerals original loose mineral foundation powder again, along with all the favorites from the past! Now thats a video!
Oh how fantastic, it is funny to look back on pics over the years. And how different you do your makeup from then and now. I know mine has definitely changed 😊
I started wearing makeup in the ‘80’s grunge period. It was all about the smudgy eye and I discovered my favorite lip color (Thelmadora) from Kevin Aucoin. I no longer sculpt my face but the earthy colors of the time suited me and I look back on them with fondness!
I just love all your recommendations Shelbey… and I’m 56, so you’re on a great road skincare wise😉❤️ LOVE, love your content… always have! I’ve been following you for a “hot minute” and you never fail to deliver! Can’t wait to see what the next “10 yrs” brings❤❤
That stubby foundation brush the brands are releasing is basically the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush but with their name on it. It's a great brush and everyone loves it.
I resonate with this so much! When you said by the end of the day, you just don’t care as much what your make up looks like, same here 🙋♀️ I think covid and having a baby definitely did it for me!
I just turned 40 a couple of months ago. I just want my makeup to last. I never got into the whole contouring craze or baking. I still love to experiment with different eye colors. But I am loving the cream blushes and shadows and bronzers trend! I love how they just melt into my skin!
I love the cream eyeshadow sticks. I'm not very good at doing my eyeshadow. It's like I don't blend right. Sometimes I get it right and I'm happy with the result but more often than not I'm not. So give me a stick and even I can't screw it up. Plus it's takes so much less time and it's going to look good. I also agree about using less products as you get older, actually wish I'd done it when I was in my twenties but live and learn.
Shelbey, I love this video because i’ve been watching you since the “good old days”. Just wondering if you we're sunscreen daily. You skin looks so pretty and love that you embrace your natural skin tone....rather than self tanning a ton.
Throughout my 20s/30s and into my mid 40s I didn't wear a lot of makeup, even for "fancy" events I only wore undereye concealer, mascara and grey eyeliner. For years that's truly it. Wait, no that's not true, I did own Nars Orgasm when it launched and I probably had that same powder blush for over 10 years, so once in a blue moon I'd put on some blush, I think I may have even used it as eyeshadow once or twice. Now in my early 50s my tastes changed slightly, I want to look more polished and put together so I go for a no makeup-makeup minimalistic approach which makes me feel fantastic. MAC Groundwork is my LM Cocoa. =) I almost wish we had these products back when I was younger, but oh well!
This sent me back memory lane! Long tern follower here. Personally my first proper makeup was at a Bobbi Brown corner, probably in the early 200s. I left with a proper colour-matched stick foundation and a pot rouge in the shade powder pink. I've been wearing cream blushes ever since. When I travel, I use lipstick as blush so that I don't have to carry so many products. For example I use the No7 lip crayon in raspberry wine or dusky rose.
You were (are?!) the first person I ever subscribed to on RUclips and I was there for the BareMineral days! I had eczema on my face and was researching BareMinerals and that's how I found you. I remember following your tutorial on their starter kit. It's been years, but I'm still here! 😘
I feel like the only popular cream blush back then were Stila convertible blushes. Funny how they’re not as popular today but the same formula that so many are loving now
I have been loving that brown L'Oreal Balm mascara. Look great on you too. This look is pretty, classic, effortless. Welcome to your 30s! You know what you like and what you want. It's a good feeling!
Your eyes are gorgeous. I'm in my sixties and I still use Clinique, Maybelline, and Lancome. I also now use Bobbi Brown cream blush and Nudestix Bloom blush. I like the Urban Decay primer. I bought a Laura Mercier eyeshadow but my daughter immediately grabbed it which is fine. I use MAC powder eyeshadows. I don't contour and I don't use bronzers. I own a lot of makeup but on most days I don't wear any makeup at all. I'm still looking for the perfect under-eye concealer. Any suggestions?
I think the biggest change for me now that I’m 53 is I can’t and won’t use a full coverage foundation. In my 20’s I wore very little makeup, 30’s I started wearing more because I felt like I needed to cover things, in my 40’s I remember I started using concealer which I had not used ever before… thanks to c19 I spent many days makeup free and now I probably wear makeup 2-3 days a week and it’s very light and simple and I LOVE IT! 😂 the Jane iredale serum foundation is my HG.
One thing that is so funny to me now, is how I wore the same Bare Minerals kit for weeks on end. Remember the various kits from QVC or even the boutiques would come out seasonally? Can you imagine ?? Lol. Thank you, Shelbey, this was a great retrospective!
I definitely wore more makeup, specifically eye shadow, and full coverage gal. I am very much minimal, satin finish foundation or tinted moisturizer, blush, bronzer, mascara and I'm done.
Happy belated birthday! 🥳🎉🎂Today is mine, the Ides of March ☘Are you a fellow pisces? ♓In my 20s all I wore was MAC. F&B, "Fleur power" blush, Orb and Shroom eyeshadow, Viva Glam IV lipstick. My first cream blush was MAC Lilicent which I actually panned. Aging myself here lol. That's all I needed in those days - good times. Bobbi Brown now has a short stubby travel brush that I love. Thanks for the video, I was waiting to hear your thoughts on this as we have the same taste in foundation/tints. 💐Enjoy your 30s. That's when I hit my prime. You're just starting your family and you have your whole life ahead of you. Happy Spring! 🌷🐞🦋
I’m going to be 55 in September. I used to wear I guess what would be called the full beat in high school and college. Now it’s literally glossier stretch concealer. Mascara. Blush and a gloss. Can’t be bothered. Less is more. And I’m often mistaken for being 35 ☺️
I am 56❤ I started wearing makeup when I was around 13-14. (80’s) Minimally per mom😍 when I turned 16 All hell broke loose and Brooke Shields was the top model. I would wear chocolate brown eyeshadow from my Mobil lid to my brow and on my lower lashes. Purple lipstick was in and I was hooked on it. When I would go out with my girlfriends my dad would look at me and ask if I was going in public looking like that??? 😵💫😆 I don’t remember wearing much blush. I loved Ralph Lauren and Clinique makeup. ❤❤❤
When I saw the right twenties photo at first I thought it's thirties and the 2nd is twenties, actually in thirties the beauty, feminity at the peak so looking younger but more feminine ❤
I was a cream blush OG! I started using Mac Cremeblend Blush in ‘Ladyblush’ around 2010 until it was discontinued in 2013ish. I was devastated when I couldn’t buy another and of all the high end makeup counters, no one else offered a cream blush! The closest thing available was the Nars Multiple. I ended up finding a cream blush by Liz Earle then a short while later I found the Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge. #creamblush4lyf 😂
Is it really all about age or skin differences though? I think its more about preferences and trends. ;-) Love from a 47-year old follower from Germany!
Though I agree that different skin types need different skin care and makeup. But full coverage to me seems to be out, maybe I think so because I think it looks artificial an unnatural... I`ve always preferred light makeup...

It would be fun to see you do a makeup collection video or a declutter!

I’m glad you are here still!!!
Omg I loved the Tarte Amazonian Clay foundation in my twenties. My 36 y/o skin could never today.
Thanks for the walk down memory lane! I love the “less is more” style too!
That was fun. Great colors for your hair and eyes. Beautiful. Thanks.
That stubby foundation brush the brands are releasing is basically the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush but with their name on it. It's a great brush and everyone loves it.
This was the perfect example of “ less is more”. Great video.

I feel like every time I watch your videos you bring me back to earth and remind me to keep the makeup low key and natural 😂

I’m 48 and from Denmark, so I can’t allways buy the brands you try. But I love your look and it is easy to copy 👍. I love creamy makeup too.

Forgot about groundwork! Amazing! 🎉
UR skin looks amazing! So plump and smooth 🤩
The foundation actually looks like it matches your neck color on camera

I think it would be fun for you to use the old products but in a way that you would apply it today.

I WANNA HEAR ABOUT THE SAIE FOUNDATION I adore their stuff and I'm salivating to buy that foundation

It would be nice to see you react to an older video and show us how you would do it now a days
I like Saie and would love a review on the foundation.
I’m so curious about the new Saie foundation. Looking forward to your review 😊

Always love your videos. Was fun to hear about the changes to your techniques and preferred products.

Stila convertible cream colors were my main blush from like, 2007 to 2015. Peony was the OG.

I'm 41 and love the stretch concealer!!
@@gingerbaker2104 it’s the best!
Shelby, have you tried Ilia’s Liquid Powder Eye Shadow Tinr?
I’m twice your age, LOVE your channel, and I was using cream blush in the early 2000s. Stila made a good one
I feel like Stila should be promoting their convertible colors more and bring back the field of flowers cream palette. They would be a hit today.
Stila and nyx had some popular cream blushes way back
Do you still use bareMinerals loose foundation or MAC Studio Fix Powder foundation? If so, how do you make them work these days?
I am curious too
The Becca x Jaclyn Hill face pallet gave me life lol. It felt like Christmas Day the moment I got my hands on one. 😂
Love this look❤

Did the foundation oxidize?
You didn’t tell us any palettes??
Cocoa is still my ride or die!!!!
What brush are you using to blend the cream eyeshadow? 🙏🏼

Hello beautiful Shelbey 😍
Woohoo 30s!!!!
i don’t care what makeup you wear or plastic surgery you have - you CANNOT look soft and plump like your 20s
