Have you tried stainless steel picks? I used to use the Dunlop Nylon 1.0 mm (I think...the black ones lol), but after I tried the SS picks, haven't used anything since. You can get away with using a thinner gauge and they won't flex on you. But I play guitar, so they may react differently on bass. I also scratched the surfaces some to aid in the grip. I didn't know they even made them till I went to see Ratt in '86. Warren DiMartini was using them. He threw several out to the crowd and I happen to snag one.
