It is not and never was an error, just like Error 53 with iPhone 5S wasn't one either. It's not like a developer just dropped a line of code in there by mistake that Face ID doesn't work, you HAVE to want to do it for it to happen. People have been sleeping on this for YEARS and don't realize the full consequences of this. They're slowly but surely taking away the concept of property and laughing right under our nose by pleading "It's for security !". What little reaction and backlash those actions by Apple created over the years made me cynical over the fact people don't care and will realize too late what happened.
Faceid is probably a question of calibration with the screen thus making the disabling thing the easiest and more investor friendly way remove the issue
At 6:23, what is meant by further serialization. Thanks for making this awesome some video. I learned new terms like spitter coated and kapton tape (The CC said capped on tape, hehe)
To be honest I think biometrics should be the only ones that should lock if they aren’t the original part. I understand Apple wants perfection and all but they could just give a message that it’s not the original part and may not work as intended but still leave it to work.
I don’t know if anyone has said it, but what’s worse here is the global audience. There isn’t a Apple store in 90% of the world. Service then boils down to mailing phones to the states? Not being DIY is bad enough but this is a whole different level of issue. I stopped recommending new MacBooks for 6 years now, I guess it’s time to find a decent non-iWatch smartwatch to go Android? At least parts availability there is mostly problematic because of the nuances of fragmentation but this? This is insane. Screens will break. They always do. What’s the real option cause an Apple store visit isn’t a real one.
Apple is trying to play a monopoly business on diy repair sector, which other companies are interested to follow as well. I saw some videos where samsung is also trying to implement such pairing system with their phones. These needs to stop asap. Why someone have to pay 69$ for just a battery which usually last long only 2years? & screen replacement is basically the price of a new phone…. Voices need to raised against such aristocracy..
me being a person who buys 1 year refurbished Apple Products, is happy that i dont get counterfeit or swapped product. On other hand its a bit sad to spend much on repair.
The screens / cameras / boards come from salvaged iPhones. They are original apple parts, just taken from another identical device that suffered damage to critical to be replaced. That's the problem around coded ICs, these software blocks will happen even when swapping parts between two brand new, identical phones.
@@simioni Since before iPhone 13 Pro no iPhone used 120hz OLED, if I go to other repair shops I will not receive exact quality display. Same goes for Mini LED display lineups
@@choudhurysaheb8326 I just realized you were asking about their specific shop, and not about shops in general. I don't know what they're using. For doing this swap between devices, the parts have to come from another device of the exact same model. Granted there aren't many iPhone 13s out in the wild yet, so this option might take a while to become available in repair shops.
Well, they had to go and put the FaceID controller/memMAP on the screen. Sure, from a security standpoint, it’s not a bad idea to prevent tempering with that subsystem in order to increase security. But from a repairability angle, it is bad. Why didn’t they put the controller else where? That way, screen replacement would have remained faisable.
Can u explain the security standpoint? FaceID needs a reboot to initialize. After a Reboot, you cant use FaceID directly, you have to put in the pin first.
Not sure I understand what you’re trying to say, here. PIN can be guessed or brute forced with a device. I’ve seen people do screen swap with phones/tablettes still on (I even did it a couple of times. Not saying it is safe!). So, without serialization of security subsystems, you open the doors to security flaws. Not saying it’s a good thing and that most people would not opt out of it. I can also think of another way that could be useful, but it is all theory at this point since it can’t be tested (well, I can’t).
So not only does Apple continue to produce $$$$ phones with screens that crack if you sneeze near them NOW you are going to lose key features by having them fixed? Where can I get in line for that new iPhone???
@@TimberWulfIsHere well its under the apple devolper diagnostics console and apple does not like having outsiders see their repair techniques. The apple employee's name is clearly visible too

The error message regarding battery started happening on the iPhone X and above. I am honestly not sure if the iOS 15 upgrade will display that error message unfortunately. But, On Phone Repair Guru’s channel, he made a video on how to bypass that error if something happened.
The thing is: is that a viable option? Both from an economic and legal standpoint. Sure you can probably go to places and find copies of Apple's software or guides on how to bypass it. But that takes time and I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be feasable for a repair shop to do en mass. Then there is the legal issue: Using, for example, pirated or leaked component pairing software, especially in an commercial setting, is illegal and would result in your door being, very rudly, removed from its hinges.
i get it why apple is stopping ppl from fixing/ playing around witch face id and keeping their security standards, it is used to e.g. unlock your credit card and other sensitive information. But the camera, screen, battery etc should still be easily DIY fixable!
The problem is the screen has nothing to do with the face id module, they aren't even attached to begin with. This is as unrelated as disabling battery health for a swapped screen
Why do people keep buying Apple products? I haven't known anyone with an Apple device for years but apparently some people still pay 2 grand for a phone yearly.
Here's my problem with iPhones... I absolutely LOVE them... but, theres a problem. And that is that back in 2009, my mother got the iphone 3GS... and she LOVED it... it lasted untill 2015 with no issues!! 6 years. and it still worked then! it was just out of storage, so she chose to get a new one... she got an iPhone 5S... and it lasted about 4 years. and by then, the battery was almost at its final moments.. it died on about 70 percent and it didnt take long to get there lol. So then she got an iPhone 7, and loved it too! and it only lasted 2 years... it got payed off 3 days before it completely shut off and never came back on... and the battery health was still at 82 percent... so about 3 weeks ago she got the iPhone 13 Mini, and she loves it too... my point of this is, that... they dont make them like they used too... its just the hard hitting truth
That’s not even true? Your mom probably had water damage on the 7. iPhones last as long as they are not damaged for. I’m all for right to repair but an iPhone doesn’t just magically stop working after 2 years
@@blanchbacker It's 100% true. You're so blindly defending Apple and rushing to blame the end user that you forgot that the iPhone 7 is the one that introduced proper water resistance. Water damage? Fat chance. Poor quality batteries intentionally designed to die early and slow the phone down so the user wants to buy a new one while being amazed at how much faster it is. Apple even got in trouble and had to provide discounted battery replacements for a while to compensate. An iPhone does magically stop working after 2 years because that's how Apple wants it. There's loads of other engineering "flaws" (I'm sure Apple would say they're working as intended) that cause iPhone to die early through no fault of the end user. Watch some iPhone repair channels, you'll learn. It's all on purpose.

Where do u live, in Alaska?
@@paperbackwriter4145 in a small town in the Brazilian south region
I've seen some repair shop use a programmer to copy the old screen's credentials and transfer it to the donor one.
How does the two differ from each other?
I spilled water on my iPhone 13 Pro Max, then I tried to dry the top (at the gap between screen and frame) with a hair dryer for 20/30 seconds…do you think that the gasket seal has been damaged?
Other question, I can insert a paper in the gap at the top of the phone, I have already pushed the paper to the bottom of the gap to remove the dirt, can a paper damage the seal if it touches it?
My 13 pro has a hairline green line going down the side, would that a screen replacement fix that?
It's the same case on older models. For example iphone Xr on iOS 15 will also disable face id functionality if you switch display.
Does anyone know if there are any physical software retail stores that sell various software products and come with CD/DVD to install INSTEAD of requiring you download it (I am familiar with how to find and download products online). Thank you!
Face ID worked fine for older models when you replaced the screen, so there's no excuse for this
Same here having issues with my iphone 6s forgot to charge been fully drain the battery now having problems in touch ID my ios is 15.1 unable touch ID
No it isn’t. FaceID has nothing to do with the screen. It worked fine before the update with every other screen
Nothing inside this phone even comes close to being eco-friendly yet they have the audacity to not give the charger, very apple like
I think I have the stupidest question ... the name of the song ??
Hi! How Can i fixed my iPhone X??? I chances a a few years and Face ID worked, but after instálled iOS 15 not worked…
Does anyone know the name of the song that's playing in the background ?
I don’t know if anyone has said it, but what’s worse here is the global audience. There isn’t a Apple store in 90% of the world. Service then boils down to mailing phones to the states? Not being DIY is bad enough but this is a whole different level of issue. I stopped recommending new MacBooks for 6 years now, I guess it’s time to find a decent non-iWatch smartwatch to go Android? At least parts availability there is mostly problematic because of the nuances of fragmentation but this? This is insane. Screens will break. They always do. What’s the real option cause an Apple store visit isn’t a real one.
why dod you not write a software that can copy the chip. Would be much easier, similar to Pandora Battery on PSP.
really hard to revese engineer on hardware level and apple really really don't want people to be able to do that
because its encrypted... its almost impossible
ifixit needs to sell soldering kit now
those things are REALLY expensive, no sane person would buy those for DIY, repair shops just import those directly and not buy retail
It's a bureaucracy, not aristocracy.
I have watched video were people repair damage flex cables can complete chip can be changed by jointing flex cables
me being a person who buys 1 year refurbished Apple Products, is happy that i dont get counterfeit or swapped product. On other hand its a bit sad to spend much on repair.
While replacing a screen from your shop, will you provide exact quality 120hz OLED display ??
Am I the only one distracted by the cursor on the center of the screen?
Never owned Apple, never will. No loss to Apple, ...... or me.
You basically need to drain the heat away somehow from the oled screen while you are soldering, de soldering that chip.
This is why my last iphone was the 5s. Not even a pencil I would buy from them.
anyone noticed the crazy house music playing in the background?
Absolute trashy customer consideration, when you think about how much you pay Apple for these things. It pisses me off so much.
How about supply-chain attacks where a bad guy inserts spyware chip into your iPhone?
Meanwhile pixel 6 have the online tool necessary to calibrate the fingerprint sensor online (free)
I keep loathing that company more and more.
But why? Couldn't we just reporgram the IC ? Like using JC1000 or something 🤷♂️🤷♂️
Helpful video. Thanks for uploading
So not only does Apple continue to produce $$$$ phones with screens that crack if you sneeze near them NOW you are going to lose key features by having them fixed? Where can I get in line for that new iPhone???
What's a about the Quianli I copy?
why does the link assume i live in the us
Sadly this is only going to continue. Other phone manufactures will follow suit.
0:32 Guys you just ratted out poor Daniel. Blur that so he doesnt loose his job
What's the issue?
@@TimberWulfIsHere well its under the apple devolper diagnostics console and apple does not like having outsiders see their repair techniques. The apple employee's name is clearly visible too

Lol. Hello apple care. I have never use it before but I feel I will get it for my next iPhone.
We will get to the point were if you just scratch your screen, you will be blocked from using your phone
It’s not an accident. It’s deliberate and actively malicious.
If a 1500$ phone can’t last for atleast 4 years then it’s a shame on the company producing those phones.
I bought an iPhone se2 just for the sake of the software and if i cannot get replacement parts then its a bloody shame
Don't forget *fume extractor*! ;-)
I have an iPhone 7 which I put a 3rd party battery in..there's no error message and it shows the health properly...can someone explain this?
The error message regarding battery started happening on the iPhone X and above.
I am honestly not sure if the iOS 15 upgrade will display that error message unfortunately. But, On Phone Repair Guru’s channel, he made a video on how to bypass that error if something happened.
iPhone 8 and lower can be repaired without any problem. It starts happening from iPhone X.
@@Reiza72Owened even with iOS 15 upgrade, if I were to replace the battery on the 8 and below, the error won’t appear?
@@lilPopper no error with iphone x and earlyer... xr and later will have error massage
@@migru9988 ok thanks
This combined with Apple's stance on Sideloading makes it really hard to recommend them.
After this I'm sure apple will put a sensor that will disable the phone once it detects it was been opened
That saved me lots of money. Was thinking about switching to apple. Now wont bother.
Thanks for Help 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Hey human made it, human can bypass it. Anything made by human can be bypassed by human.
Let's bring back 60's and 70's security... smart........
What would happen if you put a 13 pro max screen on a 12 pro max?
I think it uses different ribbon Connectors
What kind of sick person leaves mouse cursor in the middle of the screen??? 🥶
Why do people keep buying Apple products? I haven't known anyone with an Apple device for years but apparently some people still pay 2 grand for a phone yearly.
More money than sense is the only reason that I can think of.
Because "security"
xD you sent the letter to Tim Apple? lol
It's all on purpose.
don't buy a iPhone if you want repairability
Don’t break your screen if you don’t want to pay Apple to repair it.I’ve never broken an iPhone screen in 11 years of owning them.I look after my devices and don’t abuse them.
can install iPhone 12 Pro display in iPhone 13
Suprised you guys didn't call Louis Rossmann
