Last week, I met David Heinemeier Hansson (aka @DHH) in Chicago. He is the creator of Ruby on Rails and the co-founder of Basecamp, a software-as-a-service company. Basecamp, formerly known as 37signals is one of the pioneering remote companies. It's a bootstrapped company that was grown with hardly any outside investment.
David is also an author and together with his co-founder Jason Fried has written a book on remote work called "Remote". I went to visit him in their office in Chicago to ask him about his experiences with remote work.

What he said made a lot of sense. Good video.
I really want that kind of job
I've been working remotely since June and I wouldn't do it any other way. I worked for a startup in SF for the last three years and I got tired of commuting and sitting in a box even though my job could be done from anywhere.
@4:10 he nailed it. Oh how I would hash over and daydream endlessly as my former employer. I couldn't have it my way so I struck out on my own and will never go back to the old school commute/boxcube/247Interruptions.
Great insights.
I love it! But unfortunately, I've never met the people to agree with remote working.
Even worse. It's ok for some not others. My boss remote works. Doesn't let his staff remote work. I'm secretly looking for a new job.
Great interview!
nobody in Africa ...
That's actually the case of a lots of business "around the world" and also a lot of artists on "world tour"...
