Great video, I'm just in that situation. As I have no issue with my P6, my plan is to wait until next year for the P9 price to drop. And maybe wait a little more if the next SOC is made by TSMC in 3 nm...
I wanted to wait for the 10 because no more Samsung trash but TSMC, but then it'll be a "first generation" device of Google using TSMC so realistically they'll screw something up and it'll be the 11 or 12 that's actually going to be good. At least the 9 is the most refined version of Samsung-processor pixel you can get. Plus I got really tired of the 6 Pro overheating for everything. Despite people claiming it's been fixed with both the 7 and the 8, there's people claiming it's finally actually totally definitely fixed with the 9. It's better at least. This is the same logic I had. I really did want to wait for the 3 nanometer tsmc node, but then it would be, as you said, 1st Gen. So I went with the nine Pro smaller one and couldn't be happier. And I'll skip the 10 in favor of the 11 or 12 or even 13 if it's still holding up good for me
@@OmPant I had skimmed an article about that as well. I guess the 10 will actually be more powerful. But with 7 years of updates and 16 gigs of RAM, I don't think I would be looking to upgrade after just 2 years anyway. So the 12 or 13 would be much more likely. I had the 3 XL , 7 pro and the 9 Pro now. My first was actually the pixel 2, which I traded in for the 7 Pro, I got a brand new 3XL on Amazon because I wanted to test that test out how I felt about bigger phone sizes before I splurged on the newer Pro models. Actually, the 9 Pro seems smaller than the 3XL even though it's got the same screen size and no notch. I'm guessing it's the lack of bezels, but it's nice to have a phone that's pocketable once again, I've had less than a week so adaptive battery is still learning my usage but screen on time seems to be pretty consistent and I haven't hit 20% at all yet and that was with 26 hours off charge, only charging to 90% and about 5 hours of sot. In my experience, they get better after it learns which apps they don't need to keep in memory. Pixel buds Pro 2 and pixel watcher on my list next, and I need a new Chromebook because a niece dropped and crack the screen in so the touch screen is going absolutely berserk. I disabled it but then a new Chrome OS update re-enabled it and so I'm kind of frustrated LOL
Yeah, the G1 vs G4 is light and day in terms of stability and battery life. I am glad that they finally figured it out and they have a track record of messing up their first gen products. Pixel 5 was a fantastic product and the 6 series has problems and overheating issues and middling battery life. Here we are again where the 9 series is actually unabashedly the best devices google has shipped and we are on the cusp of another reset by switching to TSMC. Glad to be enjoying the 9 Pro XL and now I can comfortably wait for the Pixel 12 or 13 and still be getting android update.
Google has just announced an OS support extension for the pixel 6 and pixel 7 for an additional 2 years which means the pixel 6 will get the android 17 update. I don't see a reason to upgrade now.
That square like display on pixel 6 is 100 times better than iPhone lookalike rounded pixel 9 display. I even hated pixel 7 display which was slightly more rounded than pixel 6.
True, I don't like rounded corners on screen. The pixel 6 (I'm using it rn) have the perfect balance of rounded corner. I still want to wait for the 10th series because the pixel 6, except for the battery life. Is still great! I don't see a reason to upgrade! I just love that thing it's bulletproof! I was known to be the phone smasher, this phone took so much drops without a scratch and I NEVER used a screen protector.
Maybe pickup the 8 at the discounted price? 10 might continue with the iPhone esque design and that's not to everyone's taste. The 8 also is the first one to start the trend of 7 years of updates
I thought the 6 Pro was a well built phone until I recieved my Pixel 9. I didn't realize how much improvement could be made ESPECIALLY with how the camera bar was built the first time around. Yeesh.
I am happy with my pixel 6 but the microphone doesn't seem to work if I turn on the loud speaker while making phone calls, WhatsApp call and video call since Android 14 updates. I think it cannot use both loud speaker and microphones at the time. Anyone else having this issue? I just updated to Android 15 and will try if it will solve the problem.
I've used every Google phone from the Google G1.. and I can confidently say that the pixel 9 pro is the best phone I have ever used. Never really used an iPhone except for the time I used an iPhone 5 for 3 month and an iPhone 11 pro for about 6 months. Last Samsung I used was the galaxy S8 and it was cos of the iris scanner thing, it worked but it was shit in practice. I heard Google is trying to figure out how to get face unlock to work at night with an IR camera, if they can nail that it would be a perfect phone
My P6 is still working great. If I were someone who be needed better holiday photos I might think about an upgrade...but with 2 more years of security patches, I think I might wait and see what the P10 or P11 brings with them The kicker for me in this video was the lack of substantial difference between the Tensor 1 and 4 chips. Will wait 😊
Recent rumors suggest that the Pixel 6, 7, and 8 series will receive the 6.1 kernel upgrade next year. This more likely means the Pixel 6 series would receive two more years of full software support, beyond just security updates. This aligns with what seems to be Google's goal of providing extended support for Pixel devices. As a P6P, P8P and P9P owner, I can confirm that each generation of Tensor SoC has improved, especially the battery life and heat efficiency are better. P9P SoC typically operates below 30 degrees C, but after heavy usage it gets warmer like any other phones, but nothing like the first 2 Tensor SOCs.
@@gregthomas1907 Yes, it does. It's part of the Android 15 Q2 March feature drop. In beta Q2 all older tensors have been updated already. Michaal Rahman made a post about it. This move makes all older tensor phones slightly more valuable by this extended support, though. Despite all negative comments my P6P still works perfectly for my intended purposes, but I notice the performance difference between 6 and 9. P9P is way faster.
I was on P6P which I got for €330 refurbished and went for P9 for €549 which I hope to sell a year later to switch to P10 Pro or P10 Fold. Honestly not noticing radical day to day difference in experience other than significantly better battery but financially it still seems like a good choice for me but if I end up going for P10 Fold then it'll leave me with a big hole in my pocket. Happy with the upgrade anyway.
Things I've been wanting to know: Screen brightness compared to 6 Cellular connection compared to 6 Thanks for answering these, I don't know why reviewers seem to bypass the comparison of this. Specially the cellular connection issue, hate this about the 6
Finally, a real video that actually matters a video with value for the normal world and not the tech world. Imagine that thank you for doing such video.
Still rocking my p6 from day one release. Honestly i have zero complaints about the phone. The battery is degrading and thats about it. As its old now ive stopped using a screen protector and i have zero issues with fingerprints anymore. Which was really bad at launch. I like the look and design of the 9 alot. But honestly but for a brighter screen and better battery. Theres not a whole lot making me want to upgrade. Overall for my use case p6 just works fast and still takes great photos.
I was forced to upgrade from the pixel 6 pro and I chose the pixel 9 xl pro. I'd say do it. If the rumors are true and the pixel 10 does launch early. I will trade my 9 in if it's worth it.
Upgraded to 9 pro last week. My 6 pro wasn't going to last another year(dropped a few too many times). I wanted to wait till 10 but I'm still happy with the 9 pro.
Hah, I was thinking about the same - changing my 6 to 9 /9 pro. But besides the arguments from the video, the main reason why decided to wait for 10/10 pro is that my 6 is good enough for everything I need, the battery work is almost as good as it was 3 years ago, and my 6 still looks amazing and fresh.
I was planning on waiting for the 10 but then my P6Pro decided to just fail on me with ridiculous restarting and bluetooth completely broken. I upgraded to a lightly used P9PXL and my experience has been flawless. Amazing battery life, much better ultrawide, tele, and front camera, significantly brighter screen outdoors and the flat screen is amazing. Wish I could have waited for the TSMC Tensor 5 but I am definitely not disappointed in what Google has put out this year.
I technically upgraded from the 6Pro to the 9pro xl, I did have a samsung s23+ in-between though. It was a big enough improvement for me. While the s23+ had a really great build and display and the charging speed was faster I found that the core Google features that I really enjoyed were just not what I liked. So I sold off the S23+ and went with the 9pro xl. All around a much better experience. It is faster, the battery life was starting to show on the 6pro, and I really enjoy the flat panels and overall build.
I've got pix6 on launch day ... It was sooo bad on so many levels sold it after few months of use... Pix9 is way better and def. a good upgrade... Pro XL is even better .. but the AI is sooo underwhelming :/
My Pixel 6 I've had from new is still working fine & running Android 15 plus it has future security updates until October 2026. Yes the battery is starting to get tired but I'm waiting for the Pixel 10 official specs before I think about spending out upgrading my phone.
I'm upgrading my stepdads Pixel 6 this Black Friday. Pixel 9 will be on sale for $650. And then we get $300 for trading in his pixel 6. So about $350 for the new pixel 9. Not bad at all for that price!!
Pixel 6 currently, but the battery has started to diminish faster than I'd like 😕 Solid phone. Still great, just the battery that is an issue for me. Having said that i had an Essential Ph-1 before and I'd probably still be using that if it wasn't for the battery too... And lack of updates.
Important to note that the rounded corner of the Pixel9 are quite annoying while gaming or using the phone sideways for any app because they happen to cover buttons. Also because the screen is flat now instead of 2.5D as they call it, you can feel the spot where display and frame meet, it can feel sharp sometimes, which again is a bit annoying while gaming. Also imo the screen to body ratio should be higher, the Pixel 9 might have symmetric display edges but they are still too big and look quite old. Screen to body is pretty much the same as the Pixel6a which imo is a no go.
is this pixel 6 on the latest android? I'm using it, I was looking for reasons to ditch it but when I updated it things got smoother and better esp the fingerprint reader so I might wait for the 2nd gen tensor from google and tsmc
Problem with my pixel 7 is that I have crazy lense flare that has been present for the past year. Maybe Google needs to work on the durability of their glass coating
I did and it was worth the jump especially with the trade in value. But if you're not in a rush then don't trade cause the 6 was great. You will have to wait on some of the AI stuff if you stay with 6. But you get another round of updates too thatll hold you down till the 10
Im using pixel 6 as my daily phone and pixel 3 as secondary. No issues till now other than pixel 3 battery. Received latest android update on my pixel 6. Both Still clicks high level photos. No im waiting for TSMC pixel 10 for my next upgrade
No wait for the Pixel 11. It will be much betten than the Pixel 10. To the Normal Pixel 6 I've owned before the Pixel 9Pro is nice and small, I like it.
Thanks for the forecast! Could you help me with something unrelated: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
A big downside is that the Pixel 9 can only take photos at 12MP on both rear cameras and no pro mode . And that sucks because we know it is a software limitation since the 9 Pro has the exact main camera , ultrawide and processor .
Im one of thise irritated with the optical fingerprint sensor on my pixel 6 but I may wait until the pixel 10 anyways because i'm interested to see the rumored in-house SOC from google. If I were to upgrade to a 9, it would be a pro model to get that vrr display.
@@anthonywilliams9415 I really don't understand the hate of the Pixel 6 Pro's fingerprint scanner. Mine has worked perfectly the entire time I've had this phone. I'm a very impatient person, yet I've never been bothered by the speed of it either.
@@Trevor274 tbh same for me, the speed was fine, although the P9 sensor is faster - what surprised me more is the speed of the face unlock on P9, sometimes it opens the phone even faster than when I put my finger on the display to unlock it via a fingerprint. Also to fight misreads (can happen due to a glass protector for example) you can try to remove the fingerprint and add it again or leave it and register the same finger again (so it's registered twice).
Quite happy with the 8a, so far a huge upgrade comparing to the 7a. I loved the size of the 6a, a small and good solid device. I do not see a big reason to upgrade to the Pixel9...unless for an insane Google offer.
I wouldnt call the 8a a huge upgrade over the 7a. Battery is a modest improvement, some might benefit more than others depending on usage. And the screen is brighter, but the 7a screen was already surprisingly decent - in pretty much every test it was brighter than the actual Pixel 7. The 7 years support is good, but anyone with a 7a has another OS update still to go so can wait until the 10a without missing an os version. Personally I just don't get the waste of upgrading even that quickly outside of broken/stolen/lost phones. Hopefully things will change, might need to force companies to make it happen though not enough people are changing habits naturally.
@@wyterabitt2149 I agree with you concerning the waste. But here in Europe now big shops are busy if your smartphone and you get a discount for it. Concerning to the 8a, said that I had 6a, 7a and now 8a, I personally noticed a huge upgrade. My battery lasts much more than the 7a. My 8a does not get warm for normal use like browser or RUclips (with 7a was doing always...not so much with the 6a). My personal experience with the 8a is really really good. I loved the 6a pocket size and I was glad and lucky that I did not purchase it immediately, due to many concerns. The 7a was a convenient purchase with an upgrade action...it coated my 100 euros basically. But I could not tollerate the dark screen under the sun...or the smartphone getting warm. Again a great and convenient upgrade offered from Google and now I am happy with my purchase. ;)
1:04 it's not counter intuitive at all to me. I've got the 6 pro and realized in the first week that it's like a wet bar of soap until you put a case on it.
I traded in my 6 toward the 8a.... kinda feels like a downgrade tbh but I'm stuck now 😂. Screen hard to see outside and the fingerprint still sucks and battery life is bad
The upgrade from 6 to 9 is obviously an advantage, but considering what's coming on 10 is not worth it. This video felt like a selling product instead of answering the question in the video title. There is no problem selling, but upgrading to Pixel 9 and knowing what is coming on the Pixel 10 is only worth it if you have any other Pixel that is about to die and can't wait.
Honestly, if your phone is 2+ years old, paid off, had many battery cycles, just upgrade. There’s literally no value in keeping it. This applies to all brands.
And if the US employs tariffs on China, Pixel 10 will be a lot more expensive. It's still going to be overpriced for what you get. I just am not impressed with S24 specs either. Base model sucks, + and U models are too big.
IMO, there are only 2 practicalities that make for an upgrade worth change. 5G performance and 5G efficiency. Everything else that is better is "nice to have" but unnecessary
Pixel 9 smartphones are best Pixel ever. Pixel even those who don't buy, would be keen give a chance. Upgrading the design, the screen, the fingerprint scanner were great improvements. I'm not a fan of Pixel UI, too many features lacking, comparing to OneUi or Nothing OS but, only speaking about Galaxy and iPhone is more and more boring, when you live in the West. This new design is the main reason why i would buy a Pixel right now ( both front and back side )
Was running a P6 ... Mov f to a used P6pro... Wxcept for battery life atm on A15 its solid... The regular P6 had b tter battery life imho. Wife has the 8 pro and it has better battery, flat screen, macro mode and one function to swap faces. Res to me is meh

P6 User here! waiting for 10 Pro, just because of rumoured TSMC chips.
Me too
I keep hearing this what will that chip accomp
Google has just announced an OS support extension for the pixel 6 and pixel 7 for an additional 2 years which means the pixel 6 will get the android 17 update. I don't see a reason to upgrade now.
..waiting for the 10th. have the 6..
I do the same thing.
Every company wants to be like Iphone and they end up doing dumbs tuff like this. Sad to see
I'm waiting for the 10 yes I'm on the Pixel XL 2
Coming from the 6 Pro, the 9 series fixes a lot of the issues. The modem is significantly better finally and the new form factor is pretty sweet.
Maybe pickup the 8 at the discounted price? 10 might continue with the iPhone esque design and that's not to everyone's taste. The 8 also is the first one to start the trend of 7 years of updates
My thoughts exactly.
I did this exact upgrade, but I went from P6P to P9P and it's been amazing.
I have the 6a, waiting for the 10 pro
Same
I thought the 6 Pro was a well built phone until I recieved my Pixel 9. I didn't realize how much improvement could be made ESPECIALLY with how the camera bar was built the first time around. Yeesh.
Exactly this
I am happy with my pixel 6 but the microphone doesn't seem to work if I turn on the loud speaker while making phone calls, WhatsApp call and video call since Android 14 updates.
Are you going to compare the Pro's? I'm thinking of upgrading if the black Friday deals are good 👍🏻
150$ off of pixel 9 and 9 pro models as far as I know
My pixel 6 is still fantastic, with all the updates, and the camera is great too with still photos
@@janiv4553 it will be interesting to see if that happens. 6.1 kernel arriving in March I read somewhere. 👍
Things I've been wanting to know:
Screen brightness compared to 6
Cellular connection compared to 6
Thanks for answering these, I don't know why reviewers seem to bypass the comparison of this.
Specially the cellular connection issue, hate this about the 6
Just upgraded from 6a to a 9 today, so far the cellular is definitely better but it's only been a day
My 6a broke, so I can't compare brightness properly
I will trade my 9 in if it's worth it.
still happy with my 7a, but very curious about the 10 and what that 1st gen tsmc tensor will provide and if we get 1st gen problems again or not.
Upgraded to 9 pro last week. My 6 pro wasn't going to last another year(dropped a few too many times). I wanted to wait till 10 but I'm still happy with the 9 pro.
Pixel 6 Pro here. We'll wait!
Went from 6a to P8P this wk coz the P8P is 50% off MSRP - I was thinking of the 9, but this was too much of a bargain to miss 😊😊😊
Damn nice deal!!
I still rock the pixel 6 but with the prices of pixel .... Im more interested in the A series (comparable price to the pixel 6)
Still using P6. love the battery life on A15 Great cameras no lag only bad thing is the slowest charging takes 2 hours to fully charge the device.
I am actually waiting for 9a. Switching from 6a to 9a. Pixel experience have been superb!! I was a iphone user prior to pixel.
I owned a P6P and switched to P9P for 2 weeks. Overall a sensible upgrade - Better almost in every aspect I care about.
They should also add
1, Bluetooth dual audio
2, call recording
3, I think FM RADIO 📻
WATCHING FROM ZAMBIA 🇿🇲
Hi! I would like to know what screen protector that Pixel 9 has. I like how good it looks. Thanks!
Super good deal
Pixel 6 currently, but the battery has started to diminish faster than I'd like 😕
Solid phone.
3:17 oh my god. The Retroid Pocket 3 in the background!
I'm using the 6 pro and its amazing but my s9+ is better for gaming . pixel 6 pro has a better camera though hands down.
is this pixel 6 on the latest android? I'm using it, I was looking for reasons to ditch it but when I updated it things got smoother and better esp the fingerprint reader so I might wait for the 2nd gen tensor from google and tsmc
I did, and I love my Pixel 9 XL.
Pixel 6 has a cooler visor. I think the winner is obvious 😎
My biggest gripe with my 6 is the cellular connection. Other than that it's still working great. Still waiting for the 10 though.
But you get another round of updates too thatll hold you down till the 10
Pixel 6 is still performing great. No need to upgrade just yet
I read that finaly, pixel was crashes free is it real ? I have pixel 6 and sometimes difficult on certain app. Fp is a nightmare
Pixel 6 design with a smaller screen and symmetrical bezels would look better than Pixel 9.
What about 7 to 9? Thoughts?
Went from pixel 6 base model to 9 pro 512 gb (preordered, and traded in the 6). It was worth it!! :)
Back design of Pixel are absolutely best. They should have kept that design and square frame
Im using pixel 6 as my daily phone and pixel 3 as secondary. No issues till now other than pixel 3 battery. Received latest android update on my pixel 6. Both Still clicks high level photos.
No im waiting for TSMC pixel 10 for my next upgrade
Still using my Pixel 6a, works perfect, still takes better photos than most iPhones
Mint Mobile's Pixel 9 Phone deal is tempting but will wait for 10 to upgrade.
A big downside is that the Pixel 9 can only take photos at 12MP on both rear cameras and no pro mode . And that sucks because we know it is a software limitation since the 9 Pro has the exact main camera , ultrawide and processor .
Tbh even though the 50MP photos may have more detail when zoomed in, in my opinion 12MP photos look better as a whole.
I'm excited for the 10, currently using a 7a
Im one of thise irritated with the optical fingerprint sensor on my pixel 6 but I may wait until the pixel 10 anyways because i'm interested to see the rumored in-house SOC from google.
If I were to upgrade to a 9, it would be a pro model to get that vrr display.
I have more misreads with my Pixel 9 fingerprint scanner than I ever had with my Pixel 6 Pro.
When the 6 Pro came out, I switched to Google Fi and got the phone for free. When the 9 came out, I switched to T-Mobile and got a 9 Pro XL for free.
I ordered pixel 8 pro yesterday.
It's 410£ .Black Friday deal.
I have cracked
my pixel 6 pro unfortunately 😔it's still a decent upgrade 🎉
My current Pixel 6 is showing its age and with the new lower prices on the 9 series, I will make the leap.
The camera bar on the 9 is a bit too low
I traded in my 6 toward the 8a.... kinda feels like a downgrade tbh but I'm stuck now 😂. Screen hard to see outside and the fingerprint still sucks and battery life is bad
is pixel 6a getting any android updates before july 2025?
I was going to wait for the Pixel 10 but could not walk away from upgrading my Pixel 7 128GB to a Pixel 9 Pro 256GB for $500 with T-Mobile.
this is exactly the video im looking for coming from a Pixel 6 Pro user, but my decision is to wait for Pixel 10 after watching this
The upgrade from 6 to 9 is obviously an advantage, but considering what's coming on 10 is not worth it. This video felt like a selling product instead of answering the question in the video title. There is no problem selling, but upgrading to Pixel 9 and knowing what is coming on the Pixel 10 is only worth it if you have any other Pixel that is about to die and can't wait.
no video sample😭
Honestly, if your phone is 2+ years old, paid off, had many battery cycles, just upgrade. There’s literally no value in keeping it. This applies to all brands.
And if the US employs tariffs on China, Pixel 10 will be a lot more expensive. It's still going to be overpriced for what you get. I just am not impressed with S24 specs either. Base model sucks, + and U models are too big.
I'm two years in with this pixel 6 and I'm going to try and get four years out of it. The battery is still 89%.
Thanks Damien, I have a Pixel 6. The cost has me not wanting to buy any new phones. My phone will just have to last.
Was running a P6
... Mov f to a used P6pro... Wxcept for battery life atm on A15 its solid... The regular P6 had b tter battery life imho.
Wife has the 8 pro and it has better battery, flat screen, macro mode and one function to swap faces.
Res to me is meh
Pixel 6 was the phone that made me try iOS 😂 Hated that massive brick, coming from the Pixel 5. Fingerprint sensor didn’t work, couldn’t make calls, and was just so much bigger. Love the look of it, but the size and performance was awful.
Pixel 9 definitely has technology advanced benefit, but design & looks wise Pixel 6 looks great, unique.
No need to upgrade a still perfect Pixel 6, if the phone s eventually starts getting wonky on me maybe then I'll go for the 9
one day I gonna buy a google pixel 6a
