  • The story began with curiosity and passion for a ball, and turned into a story of a great talent, stuck in a limited body, striving to prove himself and his abilities.
it's a story of mental and physical development together. a story of a young man who wants to please his countrymen after leaving them to achieve his dreams.
This is the story of the beginning of Lionel Messi's career, and how he ascended to the top of Football.
From Rosario and his small footsteps at Grandoli and Newel''s Old Boys, to his trip to Barcelona and his development within the famous La Masia academy. From gaining confidence under manager Frank Rijkaard, to blossoming into the best player in the world under manager Pep Guardiola.
All of this and more will be covered in this lengthy episode.

23:35 this is the difference between eras. Look at Mbappe, look at other nation teams and look at them playing 17, and 18 year olds in important World Cup matches or euros or Copa America matches. Messi was most definitely better if not equal to these players having chances in this big nations. But the fact that he wasn’t played because of the hierarchy system in football at the time was a massive mistake on the coaching staff. Seriously you can say: “he was young and didn’t have experience” but look at Mbappe, look at pedri, Gavi, and etc. Messi was good and he was game changing. This is really why I hate people even comparing Messi and Ronaldo to the likes of Haaland and Mbappe. Messi and Ronaldo are the goats, but they were never given the same chances as Mbappe at 18. When people say: Mbappe has more goals than Messi at 18,19,20 it’s like of course he had more goals, Messi didn’t get the same chances at those ages. This was also the same time as most players would slow down at 30 and would want to retire by 32. Yet look at Ronaldo, look at messi, look at Ibra. These were different eras even 15 years ago. Football is almost a totally different sport than it was even 8 years ago. Players are expected to be robotic and not play with flair, why do you think there hasn’t been another Ronaldinho? Ronaldinho was fun to watch but as a player he was never as effective at anything compared to literally any player. Technology has advanced so much that a striker will probably be bought solely on if they have a higher xG and if they convert it more than another player.

This documentary provides the whole story - yes, Messi is gifted. However, he was blessed with a strong family and parents who sacrificed so much because they believed in his abilities.
Ronaldo works hard, and didn't have the support structure Messi had. However, the documentary shows that Messi worked hard too, suffered many injuries, and because of his more quiet, humility - unfairly attacked.
It is obvious that Maradona was jealous. His criticisms and big mouth just showed how he feared Messi eclipsing his overall status.
As a person and as a player, Messi is better than Maradona.
America's MLS gets to enjoy an experienced Messi with all the perks attached.
I'm very happy to see Messi truly happy and enjoying his passion. He is a pleasure to watch, and an excellent role model for any athlete on how to conduct your life as a professional. Stay humble, let your achievements do your talking.

2010-11 and 2014-15 Messi are by far his 2 best versions, "FOOTBALL-WISE".
I liked him so much better than his 2011-13 seasons, he was statistically great (91 goals a year and what not), but more of a goal poacher providing assists here and there.
His free flowing dribbling style came back in 2014. And since, then he's just the best.

Very true. People always bring up his insane stats calling 2012 and 2013 prime Messk but football and especially Messi is way above stats.
For me in 2010 and 2011 he achieved peak status in the field paying so freely and devastating. And then of course 2015, 2019 he was the most complete version of him and probably any attacker ever.
So 10, 11, 15, 19 are peak versions of Messi. Of course 12, 13 he was great too.
