Part 15: • Cassidy on Being Down ...
Part 1: • Cassidy Doesn't Think ...
--------
In this clip, Coach PR started asking Cassidy to break down Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s rhyming styles, and Cassidy started off speaking about Drake’s versatility. Cassidy pointed out that Drake doesn’t even have to even rhyme words to come off smooth, and he added that he never rhymes one-syllable. Cassidy added that he sees rhyming one-syllable as “cheating,” and he explained that he’s critical of other artists because he’s so hard on himself. From there, Cassidy spoke about his podcast, where he will break down different songs by each bar. After a breakdown on the difficulty of rhyming words with multiple syllables, Cassidy stated that Fabolous, Griselda, and Eminem can do that, but he added that it’s rare.

Imagine if Cass taught poetry in high school:
“Ya’ll not getting any POINTS if Ya’ll not using more than ONE SYLLABLE..”
You’re not inspiring me. You’re not in your bag. I inspire myself.
😂 It’s gonna be like passing A Math Algebra
Cassidy be writting with the vein poppin out his forhead 😂
@@treedillinger5801 nah 😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
I would watch a Cassidy podcast where he breaks down rhymes
That would be fire
Fr
It would ruin music. Similar to how sport media pushes narratives on players.
He really needs to do that
Me too
Just picturing Cass listening to a Drake album by himself and thinking “Damn…where he get all these styles from? This is incredible” 😂😂😂
😂 yeah the hardest battle rapper listening to Drake singing is hilarious.
@@kayflip2233 😂😂 Then him making the mean face when he hit certain notes too 😂
Drwke is cell from DBZ
That’s how I feel when I listen to thugg
They’re called compound rhymes.
His is literally cutting a lane for himself. He has just broke down the science of rapping. He has just become a teacher. This is great for hip hop
I appreciate him breaking it down and teaching people what true lyricist do and how rare they are. “Drake got a lot of styles and I don’t know where he gets them from” 😂😂😂 am I the only one who caught that??
swagger jacking at its finest 🤣
👑🌟👑
He credited Drakes writing staff without outright dissing him back hand complimenting at its core
@@LastRealPlayaAlive exactly 😂😂
@@LastRealPlayaAlive that's why he's an elite battle rapper. He can communicate the point with it being the perfect sub.
fab was really the best at multi syllable raps - he would rhyme 7 syllable set for damn near a whole verse and it would never sound forced always effortless
FACTS! Especially early Fab on the clue tapes
MIKE is the best he’s just not as popular
example?
@@Music-tf1yn They ain’t gone say shit. You know how this goes, they just talkin…
@@iceman18ize 🤣
Cassidy is like the English teacher of rap!💯
Best analogy I heard all week 😮😊
Then who would Black Thought or Eminem or Canibus be?
High level multi syllable rap he’s breaking down right here 🫡
I think metaphors and punchlines matter way more than syllables, Cassidy just being a nerd and technical about lyrics. Drake has way more punchlines and metaphors in his lyrics than Kendrick. Drake and Wayne were showcasing that ability early in their careers. Kendrick just spits a ton of syllables and rhymes words fast to make it sound fancy but don't be really saying anything impressive other than conscious lyrics to make you think.
@@TheDamnFarao Yes but punchlines are important and if you punch without rhyming it's not good...Not everybody can punch but at least every rapper should rhyme better because it's easier...that's why Cassidy is mad because it's easy to rhyme with syllables but some niggas still can't do it
@Young Mesrine🤴🏿 Well Cassidy is talking about a niche type of thing that most people don't gaf about. Like papoose when he choose a specific letter and ONLY rhymes words starting with that letter, that's niche. Most listeners aint gon be like "damn that bar was hard he rhymed 5 syllables" but a clever bar or punchline will always do the trick.
@@TheDamnFarao nothing wrong with conscious lyrics that make you think… to me, it all matters.. I think there’s times where it calls for u to be witty with simple punchlines & metaphors & there’s also times to showcase your vocabulary & rhyme words on a high level.. I think everybody we consider great all have the ability to do all of those things at the same time.
@@TheDamnFarao thats why I hate fast rap, I want to understand and catch the punchlines or even the story
Drake has mastered human behavior. He can rap in any style, but this generation doesn’t appreciate lyrics the same way. That’s why a lot of his songs have been more simple now. He adapts with the times.
As an emcee since 87 when i was 7 i easily get and agree with what he is saying. Im more surprised that many people don't naturally realize this and its the main problem as to why back in my day only us serious emcees said we rapped and nowadays anybody, literally anyone can say they can "rap" and get away with it.
And he didnt even start to talk about cadence and flow, the next part after flipping dope syllables.
Well done breakdown.
You don’t even post your songs. How can we hear you?
He definitely is a master wordsmith he can teach your class on this
Cass is so stuck on syllables - there's things that are just as complex like - Jay-Z with double entendres or Tupac holding notes and using his tone or Biggie's cadence or Ludacris' vocal inflections to add dynamics to a verse or Andre 3000 ending his lines with the first syllable and starting the next line with the second syllable or Lupe speaking in multiple points of views in the same song or Bone Thugs rapping fast with melody and harmony or articulating emotion like DMX
Facts!
We talking rap bars you talking music. Cass is a Rap artist. I dont think you get it.

Cassidy is describing true rap talent compared to being a good entertainer using rap
I'm glad somebody knows how to break this down...I get frustrated trying to explain this to the people around me
Since You understand do You agree that Drake is better than Kendrick when it comes to syllables?
The only thing Drake is better at than Kendrick is making albums with niggas he can rap circles around.
@@closure9938 who else agreed?😂
@@closure9938 u didn’t ask me, but this is a good question. Because Kendrick does use a lot of syllables but it sounds forced at times. Like he’ll add unnecessary words to make the syllables match. I would have to do a deep dive on Drake because his rhymes can be simple at times but he has a huge talent for connecting with the audience even if it’s simple. Sometimes the highest form of sophistication is simplicity.
Cassidy need to teach a class on BARS!
He said he will on his podcast
Kendrick is the king of rhyming with 4 or 5 syllables
Yep!
The way he broke this shit down is EXACTLY why I never tried to seriously rap’ I respect the art too much to just throw anything out there
Cass on point
Facts and that’s blithe problem now, people don’t care about the art of rap anymore
fact
Not every scheme have to apply to his TASTE...HE JUST HATING PERIOD
@@15997359 nah just speaking personally for myself, it’s not about being good enough for his taste, I myself respect the game too much to play like that
@@dajuanjackson8205 cassidy's only big Hit was Hotel with R.KELLY, lol dats what O can quickly recall and some song with a woman Mashonda..Bro to make music that sells u have to appeal to the majority of the purchasing clients tastebuds. Cassidy is projecting a NICHE of lyricism that is limiting.
Id say mixing certain schemes/styles is what makes hits..even is we talking jusT MUSIC chord progressions...
I was a big Cassidy fan as younin! BARS as his coming of age meant a lot to me what I went through. Love from South Africa Cass.
Syllables is the challenge so when its done right its impressive to hear. I always went for the most syllables especially when i was younger and just starting.
My guy gets it💪🏿💪🏿!!! I love the way he breaks things down!!!
Think about how hard it is for someone who raps like Cassidy who already raps in a way where there is a limited amount of pockets to find new creative lines to say that he hasnt said before and that other high level lyrical rappers havent used before. Being a lyricist these days is a thankless job. You work twice as hard and you appeal to only a margin of music fans who actually put time into deciphering the lyrics.
HE STUCK ON THE OLD, LEFT BEHIND...HATING A HELL OF A DRUG😂
@@15997359 left behind by who? Can't be intelligent people
You really think Cass is a good example of this though? Yeah, he’s an OG but he’s mid tier OG skill wise at best…
@@iceman18ize You can call him mid tier as an artist I'll concede that because conceptually and stylistically he hasn't made as much effort to change and evolve his style. He stayed in the same lane for practically his entire career without much deviation. But as a lyricist I'm going to disagree with you. He clearly is one of the chosen rappers who actually pays attention to detail in his bars. He's not just rhyming for the sake of rhyming.
@@shawnhawes7545 I don’t see him outpunching Method, Los, Royce, Thought, hell even Elzhi to be honest he’s not catching or beating them in any pocket ANY day of the week. He never evolved, he stays in that same shell mostly. He pokes his head out to eat within his range, but he never moves his feet. He stayed in that same comfort zone and never ventured to other pastures. Which is why we get this slow redundant speech on bar construction and 1000 critiques for new artists, instead of doing comprehensive breakdowns of his individual projects as an artist. The fact is, the songs are scattered chickenscratch with little direction as a complete package. Cass is a rapper, I’ll give you that. But he’s so stuck in his ways, that that is all he’ll ever be, never an artist. He will be remembered as a technical pioneer, no more. Remember “Flawless, Real Talk”…? That’s Cass, just with a more refined/ polished exterior, but essentially the same formula...
Kendrick got a crazy flow and mad delivery plus he can switch his flow depending on the beat
Them 16 syllable runs are where it’s at. Shouts to cambatta. I did it a few times as well. Mental dexterity for sure.
This is so good!
🔥. The study , knowledge is dope. Never thought about syllables..
kendrick is dope in his own way...drake is dope in his own way
Talk 2 them💯💪🏿
Period
Cass way of thinking is Hip Hop Thru & Thru 🎯 💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥
Cas should have a series where he breaks down and reviews bars from other rappers. He is equipped with the knowledge to do it and he has a high bar when it comes to lyricism, no pun intended.
I just learned the concept on how to write a rhyme just off this video 😂
@49 Keyz Beats yea its wild how ppl be oblivious to true MCees having bars within bars .. thats why all the real heads listenin to Trust Griselda the cloth black thought pro dillinger n snotty OBH back in the days like thsts pressure kendrick not fw them niggas like shoota93 n shit
What did you say about kendrick didn't get it?
Cass doesn’t have a gift of breaking down syllables in a rhyme. It’s elementary to see those patterns. It’s Advanced Dr. Seuss.
That was incredible !!
That explanation was 🔥
Cassidy is the kind of MC to actually talk about rap skills on a hip-hop channel.
Cassidy aka Mr Chicken aka The Science
Talk that talk Cassidy!!🔥
When he said well drake he got alotta styles I knew where it was going😂😂😂
This guy a true student and master of MCing
that is the most technical subject about rap i have ever heard the content he was speaking buddy got knowledge on his art and craft.
I appreciate lyricism it made me a fan hearing dope artists like you follow the rules to be dope instead of front
I love hearing this.. BARS!! 💯💯💯
That was a dope segment
You've been rapping heavy when already u got things to say even when beats switch up or volume changes a good bit your shining
Drake is easily top 5 of all time. His style is so good and unique and this guy is right. Drake says things In such a fly way.
Foh He has no memorable bars or any lasting rhymes. They come and go. Nobody can even recite a drake bar off the top of their head and if they do it's only shit they heard a billion times on radio or some bullshit.
DRAKE_is there more
😭😭😭 nigga please he stole every style and don't even write his raps 🗑️
We def need that podcast from Cass of him breaking down rapper's bars
True wordsmith 💯✅💗✌🏿
Cassidy and papoose could teach a lyrical class
Even Cassidy explanations is funny as hell 🤣 😂 😆
Imagine him being a English or language arts instructor 😂
Man cass been a legend since forever bro a true Lyricist that gives a fq about his craft man. Not trippin off the money , clout, clicks, drama and shit. Cassidy about bars. A great.
Perfect person to do this. Always rocked with Cass thru the trials and all. His name is b.a.r.s for a reason man
If he does that podcast w/ deep world class critique bar for bar he might just spark a lot of intrigue
He really broke down this rap shit to a science. I enjoyed this part of the interview
Jay z once said
"If this shit is lies, may god strike me.
And i got a question, are you forgiving guys that live like me. Well never know"
Try piecing that up
Jay has so many dope syllable schemes ppl don't catch on top of everything else he's doing with words and flow.
As a former 3 syllable rapper he is so on point!
I would definitely watch Cass podcast on breaking down rhythms
I like this podcast idea
Cass is a hip hop professor, for real. 😂😂
Bro be preaching fr ‼️‼️
This one was hilarious 🤣🤣🤣
Drake_7 am bridle path
Drake_say what's real
Sometimes being too lyrical you start rapping from the brain instead of from your heart a little bit you got to have a balance
That’s a fact. That’s why the greats are the greats. I get what you’re saying, what good is a multi syllable rhyme that doesn’t connect with the listener
Will someone give this Man a Rap podcast ? Cuhz Sheesh! Dropping gems after gems
I love this type of talk. I'll pay to hear Royce Cass Em Lupe Wayne sit down and really talk about the craft.
Bruh really a unappreciated freestyle legend
I love Cassidy just cause he will explain things like this that’s why he the GOAT
“The goat” at what lad?🤔
Dope interviews with cass. Hes a real MC. 4sho💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿

First thing that came to mind.
I'm here playing a beat to Cassidy interview, and its on point like a mofo...🤔

The breakdown on Bars was 🔥
Epic texture
This video reminds me of a video I saw with Elzhi was breaking down rhyme patterns.
I’ve heard I’m pretty sure Drake and Kendrick both rhyme entire lines which I think is super cool
Cass really gonna be out here teaching the culture 😮💨🔥🤝
My Lord Everything he is talkin about I have mastered thank you 🙏🏾 .
😯Cassidy🙋🏽♀️that's my GUY!🙌🏽💎
That would be a great podcast if he can break down different rappers styles, he would be teaching the upcoming
Cassidy is a real dude it seems & he just funny as shit without tryin when he argues 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 he wins he makes sure he has some shit to say
That's what made me fell for Hov, he would use different styles in different songs and for me that's dope.
Early hov.. in my lifetime...is crazy
When Cass freestyle at the end😂🔫🔫🔥
The definition of a lyricist
About to watch Black Thought freestyle again with this in mind
Bro this shit was fire 👌🏾
He mentioned Fab and Banks... my 2 favs 💯
He’s 100% right on rhyming the syllables. I’m an 80s baby from NJ. So I get it. BUT, Cass isn’t making songs we want to hear. 😂
His bars been dope. So niggas like me looking for wordsmiths, we fuck wit his shit…
Stick to your 1 syllable rappers 🤣🤣🤣
Da Boll Cass!!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Damn! I feel like I was in class and I had to take notes.
Rhyming Architecture is crazy!
I was working on my architecture while chilling in the park-with-sketchers. 😂
This reminds me of Steve smith’s breakdown with the receivers
He never said his thoughts on Kendrick 💭
He doesn't like Kendrick
@@vicworldwide7568 I hope he ain’t on that cuz Lamar definitely not a one syllable rapper when he really flowing

Cause he know he can rap 😂
Cass a beast. Straight up.
Big homie just taught thousands how to rap just gotta put in the work at this point
Fabolous isn't my fav rapper but dude definitely played with those syllables on "Not Give a Fk". Bars were 🔥🔥
Respect to Cassidy for a clear description👍🏽
Not gone lie that was a good explanation of a break down
💯 mill
i'm a lyrical fan, my favs are hov, cole, kendrick, nas, joe budden type cats but this convo showed me why nba youngboy and them winning, ppl not trying to wreck they brain to hum some shit in they earbuds
I get what Cass is saying but rapping is subjective because at the end of the day rapping just means putting words together that Rhyme .. Cass just looks at it from a more complex level .. but know how to put the simple shit together and make it sound good on a beat is a skill still .. so I can’t take credit from nobody who can successfully do that .. cuz Cass can rap his ass off but he hasn’t mastered making a hit song .. same with papoose .. it’s a few of them ..
Read cat in the hat if you want simple rhymes.
He HAS mastered making a hit song but these radio stations and labels only push the weak low vibrational music everybody wants.
They don't want hits loll cass can literally get paid a bag from cypher
@@Macc504 exactly what cypher is going on right now? Lol those come once a year if that .. be serious .. if Cass got a hit right now he would love it .. Shid who wouldn’t ? You niggas just be talking
