In this clip, Cassidy discussed being a ghostwriter and working with several artists whom he declined to reveal. He explained why he doesn’t believe rappers who use ghostwriters can be considered one of the greatest rappers, taking Drake as a prime example. Cassidy also outlined why it’s difficult to compare artists across eras the same way it is to compare athletes across eras in sport.

A Ghostwriter gets paid a set fee with no album credits as per their agreement. Just writers or collab gets credit on the album and royalties

I said the same thing though. Drake is a great Artist in every aspect of the word. But he can’t be the best rapper, goat, etc. He def sold the most and will continue to. He is one of the greatest performers of all time period. Every album and project is great in the sense of music and for the industry. But I look at drake like Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Bieber, Lil Nas, Frank Ocean, etc.. more machine than a single man
But Drake can write he has written for multiple artists like Dr Dre, Kanye West, PartyNextDoor, Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Beyonce, Rita Ora, Jamie Foxx, Baka, 21 Savage and Quentin Miller who was credited as a co-writer on 5 songs said he isn't his ghostwriter and that he seen Drake write himself

I don't think it's a big deal that singers don't write ANYMORE!! Emphasis on ANYMORE, because I loved Aaliyah, TLC, and so many other singers as a little little kid and their music touched my spirit. I wanted to be a singer. I would sing all day, and freesytle sing. I would listen to the the radio all day, listen to my tapes and then we had CDs, watch music videos all day I love love music all music, and I would go to sleep with the radio on. When I found my favorites had ghostwriter I was crushed. It broke my heart, but Missy Elliot never let me down that's why I fuk'n love her and she's dope as FUK!! So imagine how I felt when I discovered my favorite rappers could have had ghostwriters. 😩 I think a singer that writes their ownsongs is above singers that don't, and especially if their voice is immaculate. 20 or more writers on one song for it to go is preposterous!! I love Beyoncé to death, but she don't like to give credit. In fact she'll lie, she'll change one word and get a writers credit. That's flaw to me. They have to take these greatest rappers, titles, accolades away. I think it's mandatory. Sorry not sorry. You can NOT be considered the greatest. That's like an industry plant if you ask me, becauseit was always going to work for you, it was set up for you to win, it was set up for you to not have competition if you have ghostwriters, and if you have 20 people on one song how could you lose and how is that right to a person that write their own music...? I got a new found respect for Cass & he's absolutely right, but you also got to take some ppl into consideration even though they didn't have the same opportunities, emcees can be ghost writers & a lot of their shit could've been stolen. Like they never had that opportunity but music was taken from them, the difference with Cass is he had an opportunity.
