To me this is what Netflix should do. Drop the live action. Cavill home and fan don’t really want to see it anymore (some still do) but instead release an animated Witcher series with the game cast. Fresh start.
Maybe a different style of animation though. With EVERYTHING having the exact same “anime-inspired” art style we really need something new like the Grunge style of the Dark Horse Witcher comics or Witcher 2 cutscenes.
This better be careful in following the lore this time. Netflix can do an original story based on the series, but don't deviate from the well-written events and characters from the book. Like what everything past season 2 of the original series and blood origins horribly did. Hire a producer and writers that actually read and at least somewhat liked the original material, please Netflix

Henry was just as good if not better because he knew how to represent Geralt's inner vulnerabilities in ways the in-game version couldn't. But I also love Doug as a voice actor for him and I am happy they picked him for the project.

As much as I love Henry Cavill the Witcher always should have been an animated series. Like Castlevania there is more to explore through beautiful artwork, animation, and incredible voice acting.

I can already tell that Jaskier and Geralt's friendship is going to be SO much better than it was in the Netflix show. Granted, I love Cavill's Geralt, he was absolutely gorgeous, but nothing beats game Geralt, he treats Jaskier with respect.
This Jaskier and Geralt are still the same ones from the show.. and Cavill's Geralt respects Jaskier, he just doesn't take him seriously most of the time.

Reading Sword of Destiny right now. A major spoiler: Essie's fate is really sad. Dying of smallpox while also requesting Dandelion to bury her with Geralt's gift right before her death. Granted, I haven't read all the Witcher novels, but so far, it seems like she understands Geralt's drive more than Yennefier (can't spell her name), does.
Doug Cockle as Geralt with Joey Batey as Jaskier is literally the perfect casting. I'm glad to see Netflix FINALLY listening to what the fans want out of a Witcher series.
I believe this is trying to adapt "A Little Sacrifice". Judging by Essi being in the story, and Geralt and Dandellions fireside chat. If thats the case? OOF. This looks like it is going to be nothing like the books. The merpeople involvement was very minor.

The witcher is the perfect type of world for telling confined episodic stories (slay a monster, deal with a conflict, investigate a murder) with a slow moving larger story and this would hold especially true in animation as monster variety and setting changes would be easier to pull off (and frankly more beautiful when done right). So please netflix, utilise this IP in the manner it deserves. This movie looks like a good start

Joey Batey is one of the few good casting choices by Netflix. I wouldn't change him.

This tiny clip contains more meaningful dialogue than the drivel from the Witcher TV series. Meaningful, revealing, character driven, relationship focused, period lore accurate dialogue. Is it too much to ask?
Facts. Now the important question is, can it keep up the decent writing? I really hope so
This dialogue is not even close to the dialogues from "a little bit of sacrifice", there are really good dialogues there, unlike Netflix
Written and created by people who made that series, so not sure you should get your hopes up.
Honestly, I am just so happy to see Doug being well and hearing his voice as Geralt once again, in a new series is so uplifting.

I love the Witcher franchise, but Netflix has destroyed the IP and marred it horribly.
I had never cared about The Witcher until I saw it on Netflix.
Many new fans were created.

It's written by the same people who wrote some episodes of live-action. By listening to Jakier'sdialogue you should already figure this out.
