- Apart from the fact that the CEPT channels are pretty useless here, this radio is a really nice piece of useless kit, one of the last to come from Cybernet before Kyocera (the owners) decided to have the factory make solar panels instead of radios.. Unusually I had to turn down the transmit power to 4W rather than the usual struggle to try actually achieve 4W! After a full retune the rather deaf receiver was fine.
An on-the-air video will follow with Mr Chippie.

Mine was virtually the same. Everything virtually peaked except the last receive coil which was a mile out
that is a nice looking rig.
What you prefer Rich cybernet or uniden & why?
The Uniden's have a better reputation for selectivity (bleedover) than most other UK CB radios of the early 80's, but they have less sensitive receivers than most others at the time too. It mattered then, when every other house had a CB base. It certainly doesn't matter an iota here in the middle of nowhere where a Fidelity 1000 also works well. The Unidens reference crystal isn't adjustable on those sets...a bit like some of the new radios I keep doing. I don't like that. On the other hand, the Cybernet based sets were still reasonable on the selectivity, but more sensitive on the receive, and had adjustable reference oscillator crystals. Crystals drop frequency with age so it's handy to be able to pull them up as needed. Many colour TV's didn't have adjustable reference crystals either, Saves a few pence in manufacture. That's why I have the Harrier base for test purposes here rather than a Uniden built product. Anyway, I haven't forgiven Uniden yet for that dreadful President KP77 base!
Don't forget there are some other lesser makes of great CB's, Take that Lowe TX40 a did last week made by Worldsound

@@ukfmcbradioservicingTango21 very good explanation the first set I had was a cybernet Tristar 747 big old multi Bus, not your cup of tea but was a good reliable 😉
I got one of these around 1987, cost £165. Still got it and it still works 👍
I thought I'd got the date right. Nice quality set.

@@ukfmcbradioservicingTango21 yes a really good radio, very futuristic back in 1987. Just a pity it's mid-band only. I would love a modern equivalent with AM/FM and all the EU channel standards built in.
Here's a short video of my radio:

Looks like they had to make up pointless features to fill up the switches on the non export radio. Looking forward to the binatone breaker phone Richard
Do you reckon that set has been screwdriveredbefore with the power being hyped up over 4 watts and the deviation off the scale?
Most definitely yes. That's why the final RX coil was way out too...it is right next to the transmitter coils & the screwdriving numpty twiddled it thinking it was TX. Hope they enjoyed 33 years of poor performance.

@@ukfmcbradioservicingTango21 😂😂😂😂
You got a new video for today Rich?
No, I did some organ work today after failing to find the Binatone Breeakerphone...the box that has been grinning at me for weeks turned out to be a route 66. However, in looking I found my original Realistic TRC3000...and the Magpie Autoscan 5000

@@ukfmcbradioservicingTango21 not a bad looking set the 66 its the chrome knobs that sets it off.
That's a lovely looking radio.
