Isn't it time, greed ruins almost everything, the best product is usually the fifth produced. Phones, light bulbs, computers, cars etc until they figured out ways to engineer them to get more money. Its the human state.
I played both Life Is Feudal: Your Own and Life is Feudal MMORPG and I think they were good games but not for everyone: My experience with the last one was like this: I created the character and arrived in the world, next I started to build a house for me and maybe some in-game friends after I finish it (it took more than one day to make it I think) some guys that owned a castle arrived and told me and some guys that joined me that we needed to move to another place because that one belonged to their kingdom. We refused and they killed us and destroyed the house. Out of spite, we build the house every day and they will kill us and destroy it. After some time they gave up and because the only fun I was having was building the house out of spite I also gave up lol
My last server in YO was fun. Simple rule is everyone under the same guild as villager. Story start as new coastal settlement (admin did something to get “personal claim”work). Build your house, gathering resource to complete the baron(admin character) and priest quest and get reward. Baron mostly paid by coin. Server have 40 players and 20 admin. These 20 admin is barbarian that will spawn to f you if you try to settle to far from village or wander alone outside village area. They slowly start Player Vs Barbarian event. Group of 3 barbarian raiding mining area and only 1 miner manage to runaway and alert the guard player(hired by baron) to react. The story developed to “wall the village” and more deadly barbarian. 12 admins could fight 30 players even they equip poorly. They have no horsemen 😂. Players side have to reorganized to chase them. They took our food carts we can’t let them go. Winter is coming!
I own the single-player game Life is Feudal: Forest Village. It's a good game, very similar to Banished, though they stopped updating it in 2020. There is a solid modding community that supports the game.

Just avoid signing contracts with shady Russian companies, or adding crypto/nfts/predatory microtransactions and you should be fine. There's a big difference between a honest game that doesn't achieve the vision of the developer, and a scammy cash grab.
Man the self-hosted Life is Feudal ("Your Own") was so much fun with a few buddies just being peasants on an established server. Sad to see how things are going
Give it a try, there is so much content in it. Niche in this case is very good. None of the similar games offer the same depth and feeling like this game does. None of them and I have searched. Give it a try.
This game is one of the best in my life, so unique, so cool, but sadly in many places too hardcore what makes the population not big enough to feed the company with players money...
BTW, Xsolla changed their CEO in 2022. So the CEO that wanted to experiment with NFTs isn't the same guy who's currently the head of the company. He still works at the company at a high-level position though and is a lifelong friend of the current CEO with whom they initially founded the company a decade and a half ago so I don't expect much to change.
IV played over 1000 hours.. probably several thousand and have played through its entire lifetime. The original devs did NOT know how to code well. The history of LiF was lots of downtime and bugs, community was ignored, no Quality of Life stuff. I'm more then happy to see someone else giving it a go... you can't do much worse.
The game actually was pretty good when it still had the RP server. There was some proper RP going on. Used to have a small hunters/gatherers hut near a larger city where I could go sell my wares. It worked really well as RP platform, not so much as traditional MMO.
I remember Playing LiF:YO when it was pretty new back then and even then it really only was fun with a server bumped up to a 1000 and a bunch of people you knew. Ultimately the server died because nobody had the time and invest to keep the group running.
I don't think anyone was ever happy about the current state of the server on MMO when we were playing. Everyone complained about the bugs. We didn't say screw this game, and bounce. We had already stuck 100s and 1000s of hours collectively working on our own regional cities and building relationships with neighbors. We were all in love with the IDEA of the finalized and polished game. That's why everyone kept going. The amount of support needed from everyone was crazy. Many had a job, we were lucky down the road when the cities were big enough we didn't need so many extra people with a unfilled profession we eventually just had laborers and Man at Arms to run to the walls or do escort/recon. Bugged or not, niche or whatever. No game has ever required to spend so much time with people and communicate if you can swing the demand. I have friends still after years of playing on a random LIF server. It may have been trash sometimes and bugged, but damn we connected with a lot of people and made a lot of friends with LIFMMO. So thats a win at the end of the day.
I've had fun in Your Own a few times with friends and guildies, sometimes up to a dozen or so of us making our own little kingdom. But most of the time, the fun was short-lived, then actualy core gameplay was hours of grind, and the game itself was never anywhere near polished and user-friendly. Even modded, the UI and menus were annoying and in much need of an overhaul for QoL, the numbers and math with a lot of things weren't terribly balanced and "fun" and even changing the actual game files (instead of any other modern way to edit settings), it still didn't always do what you wanted or needed. Like you said, even on private YO servers, it NEEDS a lot of long-time players, and it NEEDS basic workers doing all the jobs, but no one wants to ONLY cut trees down, or make boards/building logs, ect, or punch a target for literally hours for a few levels and unlocks. People want to at least do multiple things, or have to go all the way down a long gruesome skill tree just to do what they wanted, and the game didn't really reward you for doing that one things for hours on end.
Years back, I bought the lowest pre-sale package to join friends, with some of them I used to play 7DTD. They settled down somewhere in the middle of snow plains as semi-independent shard of quite powerfull guild. It was not bad, I really liked character development mechanics, but I really disliked the building part, where you were merely summoning predesigned objects, rather then building them on their own. Surprisingly snow easily supported stone castle, on a slope more intense, than dirt would hold… On the other side, roadbuilding and the way how carts were moving through terrain, was great, same as designing roads through our territory…
I did play Life is Feudal MMo on Epleland when it first came out, i ahd a lot of fun but the game was pretty dead due to the second work grind, lack of content and players. After a big server war the population had goen from 2500 daily to like 1200, then griefers started to pla yas "bandits" killing every new player they found leaving the population at around 700. The entire nature of the game required a lot of players for a "kingdome" to function, a smith needed support from like 5 other "professions" to be able to smith everything needed.
Yeah we all remember the vision Bobik had for Life is Feudal and it ran most of the playerbase away because they wouldn't give us what we wanted. Looking forward to this new company hopefully they are able to crack the code and make this game into its full potential.
I played only my own version and it was epic! I got on roleplaying server with 1-2 PVP days a week. Build a litle noob settlement for new players to learn this game together and have good stending with all big clans for that. Then some Russian sweat edge lords clan got on this server and start fighting with anyone. They raze my settlement and slain my chickens ! I can't let it slide. After wipe i create new acc StanleyTweedle and join Russian clan. I was sweetiest member, helping everyone learn this game, teaching some tricks and hints, and i help with planning attack on other clans on first PVP day. But i don't lose my connections with other clans, i bring them all together, and at the moment when 70% of Russian numbers leave a settlement to attack others. Half of the server was ready for my command, pationatley waiting in the woods near our base. Chaarge ! They flooded our base, thats have only 4 men's and myself to protect it. I even try my best to defend ! Russian TeamSpeak was blown up with swearing, they was furious ! And in all this slurfest one of them even got a hint on what was happening, he said that this all look like setup and someone spy on them. But it was too late, base was fully raized to the ground and main army was clamped in pincers, they flee from the server after this. Traitor was never found, they even ask me to leave this server with them and continue on different one.
I would play it as a Free Game. But it's too broken to subscribe. After my character fell through the world twice and losing everything in one week, I submitted tickets for both. My trial period of 2 weeks ended before "Support" did anything. Persistent worlds can't randomly kill you, delete your items, then respawn you naked with lower skills as a punishment for 'dying.'
Pretty sad to see honestly. The game was... never good, but still had fond memories. I bet we all have that garbage game we love anyway, and for me that was LiF. No other game gave a satisfaction of overseeing the production of a bunch of armor and weapons for my clan while I manage like five furnaces at once to refine iron ore. Anyway yeah, the dream is dead, and probably for the best.
LIF:MMO had its time. I don't regret the time I spent in the game, it was a unique experience. It was never really going to be deliver on what they promised for a variety of reasons. There is no reason to go back with better games on the horizon.
Name me another MMO or even a multiplayer game that has some sorta terraforming system similar to what LIF did. I loved buildings roads in YO and the MMO and I will be signing up for this relaunch. The only other game I can think of that's provided a similar road building experience (a niche experience to look for I know) would be Eco, which is just multiplayer, not MMO.
I purchased the game back when they first started. Things were going well until (skip foward) they stopped working on LiF, and turned to making their real intended game which is LiF the MMO which of course pay to play, and took all of the money that they promised was going toward LiF but was secretly funneled it into the MMO, and lying about it over the years. Of course we all knew something was going on because the updates began to slow, and finally came to an absolute crawl, and when we found out why about 98 percent of us were very angry about it, and felt like lied too, and just not that stolen from. It was a bait, and switch. Mind you the game is fun but the pay to play MMO was not.
I put hundreds of hours into Life is Feudal My Own, the non mmo version, and the game was REALLY fun and hit an itch i had. Never played the MMO but heard it wasnt as fun as everyone was just Grieving 24/7
I am not sure the Current Developers have no Malice here. I know the Saying that one Should not Attribute to Malice what can be Explained with Incompetence. But in this Case. What they are doing is just more and more looking like a Money Grab. They are Demanding Up Front Money for something they have not Yet been Confirmed to have done even a Single Hour of Work on. Effectively. All they do right now is Cash in on the Melancholy and Idea of the Game. Claiming that Surely they will use that Money to then Fix and Improve that Game to the Glory it was Supposed to have. And so far. We have no Confirmation whatsoever that a Single Cent of what they got so far. Has gone into the Game. Meaning so Far they just took whatever Money they could Milk out of it. And have done absolutely nothing for the Game with it. Its looking more like a Scam each Day.
Imagine...we lost a medium sized Town we Made in 7 months with around 15 heavily active Players wich didnt stopped after this because WE knew this can happen anytime. WE had much fun building Houses,Streets,Farms and much more. Sure it was sad WE lost the Worktime but WE HAD fun while doing all of it. Being sassy about losing Something on official Servers is soooo.....No comment.
My friends loved Life is Feudal, but I've avoided it so far because I just see constant issues with lack of support and game breaking bugs and mismanagement. I'm sad it is still the case and hope a game like this can come forward someday. Hopefully one that doesn't feel 10 years old when it finally releases.
I remember seeing LiF way back in i think 2016ish looking for a survival mideval type game eventually it led me to Gloria Invicitus (i hope i spelled that right). Played that for awhile then quit and went back to DAoC and then Mideval dynasty came out played that.
I actually loved the game. I also play Haven & Hearth and Salem, hardcore survival with permadeath and open pvp so the tedium and mechanics were second nature to me. I was gutted when they said it was shutting down.
I just saw an ad for this game and it looked interesting. So I decided to look up some gameplay and this was the first thing to pop up. So definitely not something I'd consider
Played many many hours of the LiF:Your own portion of the game with friends it was great times and clicking hell at other times, when the MMO launched it went to crap.. large Chinese clans mass claiming land and building tree fences across the map more or less, cheating was rampant, etc.
Oh this brings memories. I remember working on flash promo games for this pile of trash way back in the day. Then it came out their installer "accidentally" installed malware so i hopped that wagon real quick.
Man I remmber when Captainshack did several vidoeos and it was one of the game his community played (6 years ago at least what youtube tells me his videos are from). and I wanted to join but my computer would not run it. that said Life is Fedual was one of the few games that forced people to play together because even if you had the time you could littarly not be the best in everything. there was a cap on the amount of skill point you could earn. so if you wanted to be your towns brewer and a decent one you could and also be farming the material to make brew but if you wanted to get to the 100% in brewing you had to forgo your skills in farming. and that was the same whit most skills. so a player town could start whit the farmer and brewer been the same person and later as the town grew and more peaple was around to take on diffrent roles. the brewer/farmer person become the fulltime brewer and someone else or more lightly in this case two or more peaple become farmers and they could also grow things that the brewer/farmer could not grow.
I spent a few hundred hours in the LIF:YO game and really liked it, but I didn't have a dedicated group of people to play it with and trying to do stuff solo really sucks.
You were right, but a lost of us suckers fell for it. There is no launch today or tomorrow just a wipe for anther play test which could go on for a year. Why keep paying for a subscription to play test. The dev's have been very deceptive and failed to communicate on their plans with everyone believing the wipe was going to be the launch tomorrow. Time to cancel that subscription and come back in a year or so.
I mean this is why everyone does their best to avoid anything Russia for IT/Tech and Xsolla. Xsolla is literally the "bad greedy investors/bankers" in the tech/gaming world.
Played this a while ago on the first launch, and put hundreds of hours in. I can't believe I did that, man. Got a bunch of skills to 100 and then every quot because the game was boring af, people didn't even fight. They built a house then never came back haha.
I've never played Life is Feudal, however if you want a similar game (Excuse me if its inaccurate) I would imagine Haven and Hearth would be up your ally.
So that's why my steam Library disappeared and then steam warned me saying that this game may not be available to you at this time I know is that the servers themselves are barely even played this makes so much sense why everyone stop playing this
I got this in a humble bundle or something like 5 years ago and it was absolutely terrible. everything took forever to do and it didn't work very well, making it just a slog to do basic tasks.
original life is feudal (your own ) was great if you had a team of atleast 4 people but if you were below that you would get destroyed i remember once there were 2 players who built a small castle we got inside slaugthered them like 20 times at the end they begged me on their knees to not destroy everything but lets just say all their time was wasted
Well Bobik and his company Bitbox, seemed like the most inept developers I have ever seen in a game, I am not sure what LTG can do, but It cant be any worse than what Bitbox did.
It sounds like this new company are just wanting to milk it for what they can get out of it, and once it's tapped out, just dump it. I'd be amazed if the game saw any real major updates going forward, cause it sounds like it's being set up for maintenance mode.
I came here after once again looking around for a new classic MMORPG. Since Pantheon is pretty much done (might be coverage for ya Kira) I have pu tmy eggs into the Monsters & Memories basket but am I pretty disappointed right now.
Man, "life is feudal your own" was so awesome. Completely broken and very hardcore but very fun and with great promise. But no. The devs had to fuq it up because they wanted an mmo.

LIF:MMO had its time. I don't regret the time I spent in the game, it was a unique experience. It was never really going to be deliver on what they promised for a variety of reasons. There is no reason to go back with better games on the horizon.

Name me another MMO or even a multiplayer game that has some sorta terraforming system similar to what LIF did. I loved buildings roads in YO and the MMO and I will be signing up for this relaunch. The only other game I can think of that's provided a similar road building experience (a niche experience to look for I know) would be Eco, which is just multiplayer, not MMO.

I purchased the game back when they first started. Things were going well until (skip foward) they stopped working on LiF, and turned to making their real intended game which is LiF the MMO which of course pay to play, and took all of the money that they promised was going toward LiF but was secretly funneled it into the MMO, and lying about it over the years. Of course we all knew something was going on because the updates began to slow, and finally came to an absolute crawl, and when we found out why about 98 percent of us were very angry about it, and felt like lied too, and just not that stolen from.
It was a bait, and switch. Mind you the game is fun but the pay to play MMO was not.
Did you ever cover the Amico? Man, you had some great opportunities for content there, before it died off!
I put hundreds of hours into Life is Feudal My Own, the non mmo version, and the game was REALLY fun and hit an itch i had. Never played the MMO but heard it wasnt as fun as everyone was just Grieving 24/7

But in this Case. What they are doing is just more and more looking like a Money Grab.
They are Demanding Up Front Money for something they have not Yet been Confirmed to have done even a Single Hour of Work on.
Effectively. All they do right now is Cash in on the Melancholy and Idea of the Game. Claiming that Surely they will use that Money to then Fix and Improve that Game to the Glory it was Supposed to have.
And so far. We have no Confirmation whatsoever that a Single Cent of what they got so far. Has gone into the Game.
Meaning so Far they just took whatever Money they could Milk out of it. And have done absolutely nothing for the Game with it.
Its looking more like a Scam each Day.

It's unfortunate because LiF had some promising concepts and was one of those games on my radar.
Imagine...we lost a medium sized Town we Made in 7 months with around 15 heavily active Players wich didnt stopped after this because WE knew this can happen anytime. WE had much fun building Houses,Streets,Farms and much more. Sure it was sad WE lost the Worktime but WE HAD fun while doing all of it. Being sassy about losing Something on official Servers is soooo.....No comment.

My friends loved Life is Feudal, but I've avoided it so far because I just see constant issues with lack of support and game breaking bugs and mismanagement. I'm sad it is still the case and hope a game like this can come forward someday. Hopefully one that doesn't feel 10 years old when it finally releases.
I play YO and it felt 10 years old 3 years ago.
I remember seeing LiF way back in i think 2016ish looking for a survival mideval type game eventually it led me to Gloria Invicitus (i hope i spelled that right). Played that for awhile then quit and went back to DAoC and then Mideval dynasty came out played that.

I actually loved the game. I also play Haven & Hearth and Salem, hardcore survival with permadeath and open pvp so the tedium and mechanics were second nature to me. I was gutted when they said it was shutting down.

Played many many hours of the LiF:Your own portion of the game with friends it was great times and clicking hell at other times, when the MMO launched it went to crap.. large Chinese clans mass claiming land and building tree fences across the map more or less, cheating was rampant, etc.
Oh this brings memories. I remember working on flash promo games for this pile of trash way back in the day. Then it came out their installer "accidentally" installed malware so i hopped that wagon real quick.
back in early access it had so much potential but then it went all downhill

Man I remmber when Captainshack did several vidoeos and it was one of the game his community played (6 years ago at least what youtube tells me his videos are from).
and I wanted to join but my computer would not run it.
that said Life is Fedual was one of the few games that forced people to play together because even if you had the time you could littarly not be the best in everything.
there was a cap on the amount of skill point you could earn. so if you wanted to be your towns brewer and a decent one you could and also be farming the material to make brew but if you wanted to get to the 100% in brewing you had to forgo your skills in farming.
and that was the same whit most skills.
so a player town could start whit the farmer and brewer been the same person and later as the town grew and more peaple was around to take on diffrent roles.
the brewer/farmer person become the fulltime brewer and someone else or more lightly in this case two or more peaple become farmers and they could also grow things that the brewer/farmer could not grow.

I spent a few hundred hours in the LIF:YO game and really liked it, but I didn't have a dedicated group of people to play it with and trying to do stuff solo really sucks.
You were right, but a lost of us suckers fell for it.
There is no launch today or tomorrow just a wipe for anther play test which could go on for a year.
Why keep paying for a subscription to play test.
The dev's have been very deceptive and failed to communicate on their plans with everyone believing the wipe was going to be the launch tomorrow.
Time to cancel that subscription and come back in a year or so.

Playing Life Is Feudal only just made me want to play Wurm Unlimited. An older and yet still better version of the same thing.
Played this a while ago on the first launch, and put hundreds of hours in. I can't believe I did that, man. Got a bunch of skills to 100 and then every quot because the game was boring af, people didn't even fight. They built a house then never came back haha.
I've never played Life is Feudal, however if you want a similar game (Excuse me if its inaccurate) I would imagine Haven and Hearth would be up your ally.

So that's why my steam Library disappeared and then steam warned me saying that this game may not be available to you at this time I know is that the servers themselves are barely even played this makes so much sense why everyone stop playing this
I got this in a humble bundle or something like 5 years ago and it was absolutely terrible. everything took forever to do and it didn't work very well, making it just a slog to do basic tasks.

original life is feudal (your own ) was great if you had a team of atleast 4 people but if you were below that you would get destroyed i remember once there were 2 players who built a small castle we got inside slaugthered them like 20 times at the end they begged me on their knees to not destroy everything but lets just say all their time was wasted

Well Bobik and his company Bitbox, seemed like the most inept developers I have ever seen in a game, I am not sure what LTG can do, but It cant be any worse than what Bitbox did.
Life os feudal, evolve (original) and bioshock infinite are probably the only games I ever regretted buying.
It sounds like this new company are just wanting to milk it for what they can get out of it, and once it's tapped out, just dump it. I'd be amazed if the game saw any real major updates going forward, cause it sounds like it's being set up for maintenance mode.

I came here after once again looking around for a new classic MMORPG. Since Pantheon is pretty much done (might be coverage for ya Kira) I have pu tmy eggs into the Monsters & Memories basket but am I pretty disappointed right now.
