- A Flight Simulator released in 1989 by Digital Integration.
It's a quite good simulation of the F-16C as far as the flight model and various game functions are concerned. It is inferior to Falcon in some areas such as the HUD and Radar display, but superior in others, like flight modeling, mission planning, variety of targets and weapon systems.
The Amiga version has got beautiful graphics and nice sound.
It is one of the best flight simulators released for the Amiga. - Игры
Played the C64 version obsessively as a child. Proudest moment, flying home a missile took out my engine and I made a flameout landing 😆
I managed a wheels up landing when undercarriage was damaged. Didn't even know it was possible until I did it.
Remember night time flying was really beautiful in that game
that loading noise .... i`m back in time to 1993 ! :)
Heck yeah... disk drives ruled!
I used to play this with a Null Modem cable on 2 Amigas 500, defying my brother and friends in dogfight duels... Sometimes I brought my A500 at home of a friend who wanted to be a jet pilot when a young man and he had renouncing for health problems, and we played entire war campaigns with my A500 and his A2000. He was damn good shooting me down any mission... 😅
Man love hearing the Amiga disk drive stepping... I am going to fire mine up again soon... I love my 500...even to this day... one of the best machines ever.. I may have to revisit this game
Wow. Thanks for the memories. The hours I spent on this, attacking targets on the ground and trying to dodge missiles while desperately firing off chaff and flares, then the nerve wracking worry of trying to land in one piece. I'll have to dig out my Amiga sometime.
This game looked amazing to 11 year old me !
Sadly i didn't get an Amiga until 1992 and had a C64 at this time
Now I remember, there was 2 different versions of Falcon, the F-16 Falcon and the F-16 Combat Pilot, from different developers. Both was great, but F-16 Combat Pilot got a few features that was exceptional at that time, like preplaning waypoints.
I used to go to a computer shop and browse at the games. I couldn't afford an amiga but the game box graphics blew me away. Love it.
Loved this game on the Spectrum & it played a big part in my upgrading to an Amiga. Classic
Same here, mate. Spectrum ZX, to Amiga 500+.
I can't believe how transfixed I was to this video - thanks so much for uploading - F16 CP was my first real constant obsession.. All the video misses, is the classic red n green night missions!
Thanks again for bringing so much back for me 👍
KILLBILDERBURG Oh yes. Night flights were also my favourite part of the game back in the day. Very atmospheric.
Amiga was the gaming platform for 3D-games with vector graphics, long before Nintendo and Sega.
Nah the ST was the gaming platform for 3d.... Amiga eventually got to show off 2d games for a couple of years.
Very good and also ... very lucky. I remember (1993) when I was playing with this game, that the targets to be destroyed first were the "EW" radars. In fact, the enemy took great advantage, if you went up to more than 500 feet, the radar "EW", you were identified and you get on him a lot of enemy aircraft ... it was useless to shoot them down because once knocked down one, in others arrived, launching air-to-air missiles continuously. Generally this was enough to take down your plane, but if you could save them by luck, there were the ground-to-air missiles that could have destroyed your plane. When something hit your plane, this was enough to destroy it, so that you managed to survive an impact of an enemy shot was lucky in luck! Anyway, my congratulations on the end of your mission.
Remember the Amstrad port was obsessed mainly due to how difficult it was to achieve anything on it!
Used to play this 'linked up' with my brother on two Atari St's. Good times!
I had an Amiga & my friend had an Atari ST.
None of us had this game, although I did have FA/18 interceptor, which was out of this world back then!
This is on the A500 mini coming out, can't wait to replay it!
Best moment for me was landing with no hydraulics, no engine, and coming out of a tight face to ground, oh with no undercarrigge!! Best moment ever!!
Hours spent on this game/sim in my Amiga, i was amazed back then. Some decades later i´m doing this in VR. Go figure.
Had this game for our Tandy1000. Was a pain in the butt to get to work.
That was Epic!
Wow epic mission, well done! I'm trying to get to grips with the 16 bit version of this game, but find the enemy jets too much to handle - I use up all my AMRAAMs on them & still don't kill them normally. Any tips? They are so hard compared to the spectrum version...
+2DFlightSim Both versions are quite easy as far as I can recall, but last time I played was when I made the videos. Maybe you're firing out of range? Try firing them when you are closer.
What I remember is that you should not rely on the maximum range of those AMRAAMs and fire them at about 10km range.
Also, (IIRC) you can safely ignore enemy planes firing at you from the front as long as they're beyond that range.
We thought this was the best back then. Rs232 cable and we would fight all night. Haha
Spend days and days paying this game on ma Amigas 500 and 1200.
Great sim!
I had this game, but it wasn’t an original copy ;) and I could never understand if I was doing it right. I was only 12 or 13 so it might have been a bit too complex, as well. It was really quite advanced, with landing guidance instruments and navigation planning etc, compared to the F-18 game. I eventually gave up on it, but not for want of trying. I always felt that an original game with manual might have explained it a bit more (but we weren’t wealthy, and I couldn’t see it in the shops anyway).
A shame really. I’d love to give it another go, now that I am much older and went through military pilot training!
Used to play this system link on our Atari Ste's 👍
Oh yeah, the copy protection as IFF code. Genius! Remember that now
I need this game back in my life. Did anyone ever get a kill with the canon?
So, it's not just me imagining things. I've got clear recollections of emptying almost every round into an enemy aircraft with nothing happening to them. I eventually came to the conclusion the game was just flawed in that aspect.
I really want to have success at proper flight simulators like this. Could you give me any pointers?
I don't know what pointers to give. Generally, even though they were the best simulators in their days they're actually very basic. So if you know a few things about flying, you'll find they're very easy to play. If not, I'd recommend reading the manual and practicing a bit.
+spmrcv Yup. Read the manual (probably more than once). Play it a lot. There's not much else, really.
I remember playing this against a friend head-to-head on two Atari STs linked together. After firing off all our missiles and machine guns without success, we ended up crashing into each other and declaring a draw 😅
I used to play this with a friend too, but on Amiga 500s. He'd left his at my place as he was visiting every evening anyway, so they were always linked :-)
I might be misremembering here but I'm sure me and a friend linked my ST to his Amiga with this game.
...and it was so real.....at this time. 😎😁
Strange this came after Spectrum Holobyte’s Falcon - it looks to be vastly inferior
i know the pc version was inferior ,but was the Atari ST exactly the same as Amiga??
The pc version is fine only lacking engine sounds. I managed to clear operation conquest mission several times. You'll get promoted to new squadron with new map terrain. I stop doing that kind of mission anymore because you'll have to remember the terrain just in case a worst scenario
ST version is better as was always the case with 3d games.
@@mwaawm smoother yes
@1:46 At the top, they labelled the sidewinder as an AIM-120. Oooops.
Played this on atari st, thought it was pretty good.
Good old days of proper home computer combat flight sims. Where you just chose a mission, set your loadout and went for it, ranking up your pilot career.
Nowadays they spend too much on cinematics and tie the whole thing together in a daft storyline about some twit trying take over the world. Hello Ace Combat....
I also played the sh!t out of this, i loved it. Very immersive.
Sink rate too high...still hunts me to this day...
