Jack is so precious ❤️. Much love and blessings to you and your family from the USA 🙏. We stand with you and your beautiful Ukraine 🇺🇦💛🇺🇸💙🙏
Hello from Ukraine!🇺🇦💙💛
If you are not getting a spark off the coil, it may be the points in the distributer. They may either need cleaning or the gap might not be set right. I used to have the same problem in my old VW bugs.
I will offer two tips. 1) replace the wire that goes from the battery to the chassis/ground/earth. Not just the terminal but the whole wire. Make sure the connection is very clean shiny metalmat the chassis. 2) Get a distributor rebuild kit. I will bet the capacitor is shot and the points are burnt. Make sure you know the proper gap and set it with a feeler gauge. Bonus, when those are done and it runs pretty good use some carb/engine cleaner in the fuel and take it for a long drive (an hour or so) to run it steady at full operating temperature. That should burn out some of the crud from inside.
I wonder if the spring loaded carbon connector to the rotor was reseated while refitting the wires again; but sounds like distributor points could benefit from filing/resetting too. Good luck Jack, they will get you back to the river soon enough.
this sounds like ussual do thhis, than that, than again this. Untill yo changed all car parts
Glad you got the old motor going again Pavlo, Jack seems to love the car now. Stay safe guys, Slava Ukraine.
When you had no spark, I kept shouting at my screen……”Check the distributor!” Looks old enough that it’s probably using points and condenser (capacitor), they don’t like it when they get wet from even condensation 😉, and it might need a little attention to the cap and rotor too 👍. I’m impressed you can find parts for it 😃!
Yes, this is the way to go
When I picked my wife up for our first date together, my truck broke down just outside her parking lot.
The clutch had a linkage problem, which I fixed quickly and we were off.
I later laughed and asked if I lost points having an old truck that broke down
and she said , "No, you gained points by knowing how to fix it"
Hah, she’s awesome ☺️ but what if your truck didn’t break down that time, and you didn’t get those points?😀 Have you ever thought about that?😁
@@pavlofromukraine Yes, she is. She is a traditional type woman who knows how to cook very well, is smart with money and generally gets things done, instead of looking for someone else to do it for her.
Like you and Luba are too. The "Go- Go'ers" We don't sit still long.
Ahhh Jack is sooo precious, I really enjoy watching him take over your video like a star😂😂😂😂, good luck with your Soviet car. Take care you guys and stay safe. Slava Ukraini . ❤❤❤
So much love, patience and peace in this family; so much respect and cooperation; learning, laughing - living.
I'm glad you got it running. Jack wants you to run too. He's a fun and playful dog. So smart.
Hi Jack 🙋♂️. Just like our older American cars, they are easier to work on.....but have been known to leave us on the side of the road 🙂.
I like the way you speak English, your voice and dialect, it's like straight from one of my favorite now dead RUclips stars,
From Iohan Gueorguiev, the bike wanderer (Gosh how I miss him)
Hey guys, I hope you never change your way of life.
Stay healthy, and stay safe.
He was a Bulgarian, so seems our dialects are close, and the voice is a bit similar, it’s true.
RIP Iohan…
Perfect music 🎶. You have such a good music 🎼 instinct! 💛💙 A blue and yellow fuel pump 😄. Ukrainians are so patriotic!!!
Wow, Jack sure has grown bigger fast! He is a handsome dog.
You probably have a short or loose connection in the wiring being old that happens. Around where I live it’s no uncommon for squirrels, gophers or other small critters to chew wires especially if they sit for long periods and aren’t driven.
Very well could be
Persistence pays off. That car is Jack's private transport to the river and you are his chauffeur!
Pavlo check and see if you have power to the coil? It should be bright light one side and little light other side to points! the fuel pump is probably bad, or points and condenser bad, compression? Coil, if not than it’s a bad cam! Don Los Angeles California
Hey Pavlo next time check the breaker points (clean and reset .4 to .5mm and condenser small silver can in side). It would be so cool to have one of those jeeps being air cooled no frozen blocks to worry about in the winter.
Jack is waiting to have a ride !! Hope you get it sorted. Ukraine❤❤❤❤
Glad the jeep is fixed again!🤗
I work at a NAPA auto parts store here in the US . I hope to come to Ukraine during rebuilding time/era hopefully i could find a job selling parts in Ukraine and i have sold tractor and industrial parts along with regular auto parts. BTW I love your videos and Jack is a beautiful Sheppard.
Thanks for sharing this video with us. Jack is such a sweetheart.
Sounds like a fuel issue. Thanks for another great video. Peace be with you both.
Your mechanic is looking very stylish.😂
Glad it is fixed again 😊
3:21 - excellent surf rock music there!
I think Jack really wants a little sibling to keep him entertained. So much puppy energy in him still.
Чудове літо в Україні! Мирна сім'я. 🇺🇦
Sounds like your truck is not getting fuel. Try priming the carburetor with some petrol or starter spray. Oh and make sure carb is getting fuel. First thing to check is the fuel filter if not getting fuel. That truck is the coolest. See you in the next video.
That was fun. Thank you for sharing.
The erratic spark might suggest you've suspect points and/or the condenser...
Base plates in the distributor can also wear, causing terrible timing/rough running issues.
The carb also sounds like it needs a good service/tune up...
Jack wants car to run to go swimming again! He is such a good puppy!! He likes to play with his toys and ride in the car! Glad it is working again!💙💛
I'm glad all is well. Cool video bro. Stay safe.
I'm riding "old-ish" bikes, here in Germany. The one good thing is: you at least are able to acess all of the parts.
About the ignition coil: make sure it's perfectly clean on it's top end. And take a very close look at that material. It is possibly bakelite.
This material can burn. And then: be a pathway for the spark to go directly to the casing. Try to scrape the whole surface of the cap. Until it's perfectly clean with no black traces on it's surface. This might help! Otherwise: the slightest humidity will allow the spark to rather take it's "old way" towards the casing, again.
You will see a spark at your spark plug. But it will be weak. Not powerful enough to ignite in the combustion chamber.
At least, this is one thing you should do to have one more possible problem sorted out.
Ride well, bro!
I had a Chevy once that the only way it would start was to pop the clutch when you were trying to start it. Once it jumped forward it started right off. I never worried about someone stealing it. Glad you got Jack's ride fixed so he can go back to the river. Stay safe and thanks for posting it.
Hello to Ukraine !👌✌💛💙 It's nice that you got the old car running again. Great vehicle with simple technology. Best regards from Germany.
My husband was guessing maybe there is a problem with the points❔Cool car~~Yeah!...Jack gets a ride
(Points capacitor in the distributor?) Luba and Jack in the 4WD going to the river? - you may be the luckiest man alive!
hi folks..thanks for sharing...a good rule of thumb is check for ignition spark, fuel delivery at the on set....possibly a loose ground wire...in some cases the fuel cap vent can be clogged.....take care, god bless...
Another great vid! You 2 be safe!!
This is like the classic auto from the 50's-60's in US. The key to reliable ignition is checking points, plugs and ignition. Points refer to the rotating electical switch device (distributor cap) that routes the ignition wires to the the spark plugs (its complicated but it is a mechanical process). The spark plugs should clean and properly adjusted (the gap on end of plug where spark occurs must be clean and properly spaced) with good wire connection between it and the distributor cap. The ignition part of this the coil that generates the spark (you have already looked and replaced that). BTW old ignition coils can degrade just sitting around so get a new one.
MAN!, that rig is rougher than a night in jail,😖, awesome video tho, thanks for sharing.
I think using a multimeter would make troubleshooting so much easier. Thanks for the video, it's interesting to see how an old Soviet car looks like under the hood.
Three things needed for a car to run. Spark, air and fuel. Just guessing but it seems like the carburetor need's cleaned/rebuilt. I noticed you had to pump the gas peddle to get it running. If it does it again try putting some fuel directly in the carb to see if it runs for a second.
You guys are amazing, hey the music is cool!!!
Love the end!! Jack's face in the car!! 😂

Hey Pavlo, you should check your ground wire from the engine block to the body(chassis). it happened to me on my mustang. i changed my ground strap cable and it fixed my intermittent starting problem. All you have to do is bolt a ground strap cable to the engine block that has no paint (so there is metal/metal contact and attach the strap to the body/chassis where there is no paint or scrape off the paint for metal-metal contact. it should fix the problem unless there is another issue like a bad carburetor. good luck. just keep following the Golden Rule of repairs which is to always start with the most inexpensive parts first and then escalate to the expensive last.
I want to give Jack a fish , makes me think I need to get my dog a fish, that’s a cute ending of the close up of Jack at yall side ,tight together in the working Soviet rocket ❤
Brother and sister have such a good 👍camera, they make such good 👍videos, thank you!✌️😊 🙏
I was waiting to see luba dear. Keep it up.
unfortunately I can't fix cars😂😃🫶🏻
@@lubafromukraine yes but I always want to see you. You are so so beautiful dear. I want a girlfriend same like you.
Jack is such a good pet. So beautiful too. ❤️🙏🙏🌟🌟👍👍❤️
Jack loves the car now😂❤
I love those old work horses.
But this one hasn't been handled kindly in the past. It now needs some 'Tender Love & Car' or it will give up. It sounds like it has bronchitis now, which obviously isn't good.
I'd get myself a workshop manual and plan for a good cleanup. These engines are easy to work on. Not over-engineered like today's cars.
It'll be fun, you learn a lot, and after that it will do service for years to come.
BTW : using too much gas pedal or choke during starting often results in trouble starting. (yeah, been there, done that to myself).
great video , i was praying to hear it just fire just once while the repair was going on !!! ( im a mechanic) on old cars you usually find one problem covering another and while working on it you create more after disturbing things that have sat for decades .!! you took the correct route and replaced the vital things does it have points ignition or electronic ? .... i suspect now a bad or corroded wiring contact or simple broken wire . you might need to get a multi meter to check continuity , making sure the electric gets or can flow from one end of ignition wire to the other ..... good luck , always enjoy your videos .
Pavlo is this a LuAZ 1302? It is pretty cool that is was designed and built in Ukraine during Soviet times.
I want one of those vehicles. And a cool pup like that.
Please check the Timing and ensure your Drstributor is not loose (moving by vibrations), and make sure there are no hairline cracks in your Distributor cap and adjust the Point and replace the Rotos.... That is what I would do and go from there.
Pavlo, replace the condenser on the side of the distributer, and replace the hose on the vacume advance module ( on side of distributer) this whii help with acceleration. Hope this helps. Best to you and family, I benn following for a couple years now, almost.
The fuel line on your jeep could be air locked. Disconnect the fuel line from the carberator and pump the fuel pump until fuel comes out, and then reconnect the fuel line
If that has ignition breaker points, clean or if pitted replace and re-adjust them, if it has a transistor ignition module like a 90's lada, replace the module, ignition problems can be sneaky (runs one day and doesn't the next) especially with the old transistor systems.
I have a German shepherd too, and he does the same thing.
Great dogs.
bellissimo video
That's a great old truck. My money says that fuel pump had been weak for years, and it needed to be changed. It looked like the wires at the ignition coil were not making good contact. They may be worn out so I would replace them. Also the problem could be at the ignition switch. Hard to tell. Have you replaced the spark plugs and points yet? Probably wouldn't hurt. Say Hi to Luba. Love her cooking shows.
Great ending, loved it, to the swimming hole, lol.
Your car probably has a distributor on it where center wire goes to a distributor cap .under the distributor cap there is probably a set of points and a condenser . The points may have Crousion on them or points burnt . Best to replace points and condenser . Point gap has to be set according to engine specifications probably .0016 to.0018 , 00406 cm to .00457 cm
This is only a estimate for Older American engines here
I didn’t know Jack loved cat’s 🐈?
Because that thing is purring like a kitten 🐱💙💛
Crank no spark common on my truck but check the coil check the spark plugs… I hope u can get it running looks like a good old lil car
It's a bad earth somewhere 😂😂👍✌️ jack was funny
Reminds me of my childhood 😅
I thought it was an electrical fault from the start Pavio as I spent a lot of years working on ford cars that where old rusty vehicles back then 🤔 now they are worth a fortune MK 1 & MK2 Escorts 😱 and many others, but it was very interesting to watch 👍
🙏🇺🇦
I meant to add that center large wire from coil goes to center of distributor cap . Usually 2 clips or 2 small screws hold distributor cap on top of distributor, points and condenser are under the cap
Pavlo
Had an vehicle like yours once. Only worked when it wanted to!!
Regards
Jennifer and Duncan from Canada
You scare me haha that door was opening as you were driving. Please don't fall out!!!
Positive to the coil is losing power, run a wire from the Positive on the battery to the Positive on the coil ( bypass to confirm )
Did you check the points ?
Jack would have helped, but he has no thumbs. He had mentioned the ignition coil, but he couldn’t point to it!
Great video. Praying for all Ukranians during these.tough days.
Thank you.very much!n💙💛🇺🇦
Jack is always there to bully you! 😆
Awesome vlog much love to you guys !!!!!!
I like how your fuel filter just happens to be the same colors as the Ukrainian flag!! 🇺🇦 👍
Plenty of battery spark I reckon it’s the starter motor it’s not firing Pavlo 🔥
Praying for y’all to stay safe and your Country i just wish Russian with stop enough is enough
Your best video ever. 😀😀😀😀😀
Hopefully enough of us click on and watch your video that it pays for your auto repair plus more. Slava Ukraine.
you need a multimeter to measure the ohm which is the resistant of the wires and the whole electric system routs, or voltage, The whole ignition system is very simple, the ignition coil one side is connect to battery positive and another side connect to engine distributor (like a switch ON/OFF) and then connect to ground (battery negative terminal or car body), Just google do a little research you can easily find out the problem and where is the broken point. !! Don.t use multimeter to measure the high voltage side (the spark plug cable) !! It will damage the meter.
You have a leak from one of your lines. I saw it when you were trying to start it and filming the new fuel filter.
good eye there Watching, spray the distributor with some silicon spray so no shorting with moisture
You need to clean every electrical connector on the ignition system, there are spray cans with conctact cleaner that do wonders; that little car only seen maintenace when something broke; also, when you change the battery, put the biggest one that fits in the space, old cars start much easier with bigger amperage batteries, try for a 60+ amps one; it will charge slower but it will start better.
And please get a can of WD40 and spray over the rust spots to stop them from spreading.
Are you guys still selling Luba's grandparents house, or are you going to keep it now you've started renovating it?
👍👍👍💙💛❤ Pavlo, Luba, Jack and🇺🇦
🇺🇸
@pavlofromukraine I noticed Google results say gooseberries are not good for the dogs. All the best, from California.
My first thought was: Maybe the car will start again if you tidy and clean the passenger cabin inside? A really good idea I think. ;)
Pavlo, i'm not an expert on Soviet vehicles, but just by the sound I think the ignition timing is off. Loosen the distributor and slowly rotate when it is running and see if the idle improves.
PAVLO....next time try some Starting Fluid Spray. it comes in an aerosol can.
I’d guess distributor problem, and/or spark plugs need replacing, or check the gap. Would also clean out your carburettor
Clean the points, check the wires for resistance, the coil for correct parameters, the quality of your ground, clean all electrical contacts meaning switches and fuses. It looks like there is actually a light under the hood, make it work. Jack needs a pad in the back so he knows where to park his butt.
I really like this video.
I thought in the last video when you were driving to the River that it sounded like the choke was on while you were driving. Gives a kind of sputtering sound.
Check/ replace the condenser in the wiring / spark plugs
That's a cool looking car, or utility vehicle. I wonder how much it would be to buy one, bring it to the US and restore it. And then have Doug DeMuro review it 😀.
This infamous V4 is also called "Stalins revenge" including all vehicles, that it was fitted in, around it. ;-)
